Pregnant with the Alpha Best Actress's Child - Chapter 3
The Fan parents had a happy marriage and both an Alpha and an Omega child; anyone who saw them would sigh in admiration at such a perfect family.
Only Fan Wu knew just how unreliable this pair of parents truly was.
Because the two of them frequently abandoned their children to enjoy their “world of two,” Fan Yu was practically raised by Fan Wu’s own hands. During her rebellious student years, Fan Wu would swing by the elementary school after her own classes to pick up her sister, handily “cleaning up” the various boys and girls circling around her little Omega.
It was likely from that time onward that she developed a lingering habit: looking at everyone as if they were wild boars trying to root up her family’s precious cabbage.
One day, the cabbage told her that she had set her eyes on a unique wild boar and wanted to marry her when she grew up.
At that time, Fan Wu had long since shed her youthful recklessness and grown into the gentle, considerate “Alpha of everyone’s dreams.” Hearing those words, she still nearly ground her silver teeth to dust.
That wild boar was Sang Zhijiu.
The first time they shared a stage, Sang Zhijiu was just a fresh-faced rookie who held the award-winning Fan Wu in the highest esteem.
How could she have known that the great Best Actress Fan, known for being the friendliest toward newcomers, didn’t view her as a junior at all? Instead, Fan Wu’s gaze was filled with the intense scrutiny one might reserve for a future brother-in-law.
By the way, during that first “evaluation,” Sang Zhijiu failed every category except for her face.
Later, by a stroke of luck, Sang Zhijiu’s original company was acquired by Nanlu. Being in the same company meant they met more and more often, and Fan Wu became increasingly adept at bullying her.
Rumors swirled that Sang Zhijiu was arrogant and loved to snap at people; Fan Wu was responsible for at least fifty percent of that reputation.
Now that the news of Sang Zhijiu’s secondary differentiation into an Omega was confirmed, the crisis of the family cabbage being rooted up was resolved. Scoundrel that she was, Fan Wu began to reflect in her heart: had she been a bit too hard on the kid all these years?
Jiang Mengzhi rolled her eyes secretly, displaying her high emotional intelligence: “At least you helped her raise her guard and let her learn early about the cruelty of the entertainment industry.”
Fan Wu thought about it and nodded, feeling quite good about herself. “True. I’ll find some opportunities to compensate the little one later.”
Jiang Mengzhi was silent for two seconds. “I’m guessing the only ‘compensation’ Sang Zhijiu wants is for you to stay far away from her.”
Fan Wu rested her chin on one hand. “Sister Meng, that joke isn’t funny at all.”
Jiang Mengzhi glanced at the navigation and changed the subject. “Buckle your seatbelt. We’re heading to the hospital.”
They were currently at the Film City. Getting to Sang Zhijiu’s hospital would take nearly an hour and a half, and Jiang Mengzhi didn’t want to waste time.
As the car reached the outskirts, Fan Wu’s eyes were drawn to a figure by the roadside, and she frowned slightly.
It was a young girl pestering a middle-aged man, seemingly begging for something. Fan Wu recognized the man; he was an assistant director for a crew in the Film City.
She called out to Jiang Mengzhi and whispered a few instructions.
Jiang Mengzhi was confused but took a turn to pull the car up beside the two. She rolled down the window and, with a few words, helped the girl out of her predicament. As a famous agent in the industry, the assistant director was very respectful to her, bowing and scraping as he watched her leave.
Only after the car was out of sight did the assistant director look back at Zhan Yue柔. “Not bad. When did you get a connection with Nanlu?”
Zhan Yue柔 stood there thoughtfully. Hearing this, she couldn’t say anything and could only give a fawning smile.
The assistant director spat. “Keep up.”
“I’m warning you, if you dare skip work like this again… Heh, unless Fan Wu herself comes to bail you out, don’t even think about getting on set again.”
Zhan Yue柔 hurriedly jogged to follow. “Thank you, Brother Li. I promise it won’t happen again!”
At that moment, in the hospital.
Lin Jiahe had gone to the airport to pick up Sang Zhijiu’s two mothers, leaving Sang Zhijiu alone in the room.
The doctor came by for rounds to observe her condition.
The fever had long since broken. This morning, Sang Zhijiu felt as though her body was back to normal. However, her spirit was a bit listless, and she leaned against the headboard, answering the doctor’s questions weakly.
The doctor looked at the medical records with a surprised expression. “Your recovery speed is very fast. It might be related to being marked by a high-quality Alpha as soon as you differentiated.”
The amount of information in that sentence was staggering; Sang Zhijiu sat bolt upright.
She licked her dry lower lip. “It… it’s related to that?”
“Of course.” The doctor began taking notes. “Immediately after differentiation, the first estrus heat occurs. Uh… you were a Beta before, so you probably haven’t had Omega biology lessons, right?”
“When an Omega enters heat, the pheromones released will trigger a reaction in nearby Alphas. If you aren’t careful, it can easily lead to a public safety incident.”
Sang Zhijiu swallowed hard, her heart still thumping with fear.
She looked up and asked, “Doctor… this kind of thing won’t get out, will it?”
The doctor comforted her: “Don’t worry. The contents of your medical records are private. Unless you consent, no one else can view them.”
“Looking at your condition, you don’t need to stay for a week. If you want to stay a couple more days, you can; if you don’t, you can process your discharge tomorrow afternoon.”
With that, he closed the chart and prepared to go to the next ward.
Before leaving, he turned back to remind her: “By the way, if you don’t want children yet remember to buy some medicine to take after you’re discharged.”
Sang Zhijiu froze, and her cheeks began to burn.
Once the doctor finally left, she buried herself under the covers, rolling around in embarrassment.
When she finally vented that energy, she sat up with messy hair, staring blankly at the bed.
Memories of the night before last flooded her mind, and she painfully realized a fact: “So, what happened that night was me going to the wrong floor and accidentally triggering Fan Wu’s heat. This… this is how I got ‘bitten by a dog’…”
“Wuuu, and I even secretly left a signed statement. Does that count as extortion and blackmail?”
Thinking of this, Sang Zhijiu panicked.
She leaned over the bed, straining to reach her handbag nearby, and pulled out the statement with the lipstick thumbprint.
How smug she had been when writing it was exactly how much she regretted it now!
But before she could decide how to handle the paper, she heard the sound of hurried footsteps in the hallway.
The window was open, so she could clearly hear the conversation outside.
Lin Jiahe walked ahead, leading Sang Zhijiu’s mothers. “Aunts, we’re here. Room 602 is just ahead.”
Sang Xiaqing’s voice carried a hint of a sob. “Faster, the baby must be feeling so miserable right now.”
The final voice was cool and composed, sounding like a mature elder sister: “The hospital floors are slippery, don’t run. We’re almost there; those few steps won’t make a difference.”
Sang Xiaqing turned and glared at her wife. “Something so serious happened to our baby and you have time to nag me? You don’t care about her at all!”
Yue Shuyi was helpless. “Didn’t we already check? Secondary differentiation is rare, but it’s not an illness. Don’t be nervous.”
Sang Xiaqing suppressed her tears. “Physical health doesn’t mean everything is fine.”
In the blink of an eye, the three arrived at the door.
Sang Xiaqing moved past Lin Jiahe and grabbed the handle. “Baby, Mommy is coming in.”
Anxious, she didn’t wait for a response from Sang Zhijiu inside and pushed the door open.
With no more obstacles between them, their gazes met in the air.
Sang Xiaqing covered her mouth in disbelief, tears falling instantly. Even the originally calm Yue Shuyi frowned deeply after seeing the scene in the room.
Sang Zhijiu realized the stupid thing she was doing a second too late. She frantically pulled the wad of paper out of her mouth and hid it under her rear.
Unable to even wipe the saliva from the corner of her mouth, she greeted her mothers with a vacant stare.
“Mommy, Mother, you’re here.”
Sang Xiaqing turned and buried her face in the chest of Yue Shuyi who was a few centimeters shorter than her crying her heart out. “It’s over. The baby has gone stupid.”
Yue Shuyi patted her back to comfort her. “It’s fine. Maybe we can still use her if we get her treated.”
