Pregnant with the Alpha Best Actress's Child - Chapter 10
Sally was a senior makeup artist at Nanlu Entertainment, specifically specializing in designs for Omegas. Before today, she never imagined she would have the chance to collaborate with Sang Zhijiu.
Tonight’s luxury brand anniversary gala was a star-studded affair. Given that the heat surrounding Sang Zhijiu’s secondary differentiation had yet to die down, it was predictable that the popular starlet’s first public appearance after her transformation would be the gala’s biggest talking point.
Nanlu attached great importance to this event, so Sally naturally stayed on high alert. Although they had agreed to meet at four in the afternoon, she arrived at the hotel before half-past three.
Arriving early had its perks. Sally took a deep breath, checked her tools in the hotel lobby, and then took her assistant up the elevator to Sang Zhijiu’s floor.
The assistant, A-Kang, was playing with his phone in the hallway. Seeing them, he politely guided the two into the room.
At that moment, Sang Zhijiu was still struggling with the inscriptions she had to write.
She was momentarily stunned when she saw Sally. After reacting for two seconds, her face turned red, and she muttered a greeting: “Uh, hello.”
Sally took the initiative: “Zhijiu, we arrived a bit early. Are we disturbing you?”
Sang Zhijiu shook her head. “It’s fine.” She waved the pen in her hand. “Sister Sally, you two go ahead and prepare. I’ll be ready very soon.”
Sally smiled and nodded, and Sang Zhijiu lowered her head once more.
Of the three books, she had already finished two according to the requirements. For the last one, Being Single is a Blessing, Senior W had generously allowed her to use her own creativity, as long as the theme didn’t deviate from the two previous inscriptions.
Before Sally arrived, she had already thought it through. With no more time to waste, she stopped hesitating and wrote down the words she had in mind.
[Dear Valerie,]
[Happy Graduation.]
[Focus on your career. Family and money are your solid support. Stay single and live a long life~]
[From Sang Zhijiu]
After writing the last character, Sang Zhijiu let out a long sigh of relief.
She closed the book and was just about to have A-Kang find an opportunity to mail the items back to the senior when Sally leaned in familiarly.
“I didn’t expect you to enjoy reading in your spare time, Zhijiu.”
Before she could finish her sentence, she saw the large characters Three Moves to Teach You to Get Rid of Rotten Peach Blossoms on the cover. The second half of her sentence died in her throat.
Sang Zhijiu’s smile was weak. “No, it’s not for me. These are gifts for a fan!”
“Oh, I see.” Luckily, it was smoothed over. Sally breathed a secret sigh of relief. “That fan must be very lucky. I know your autographs are hard to get; getting three books at once like this, they’ll be thrilled to death.”
Sang Zhijiu lowered her head. “It’s nothing.”
If these three books had been even slightly more serious, she could have accepted Sally’s compliment righteously. But with those titles displayed so blatantly in front of her, she had no confidence at all.
Quickly stuffing the three books back into the original courier box, Sang Zhijiu called A-Kang over and gave him his instructions.
Only when the three books were taken away by A-Kang did the weight on her heart finally drop. Turning around, she gave Sally a well-behaved smile: “Shall we begin?”
Sally nodded.
The styling proceeded smoothly. Sally wouldn’t be working at Nanlu if she didn’t have real talent. Coupled with Sang Zhijiu’s full cooperation, the work went quite fast.
It wasn’t until Sally took a small brush dipped in blush and prepared to brush it onto the tip of Sang Zhijiu’s nose that Sang Zhijiu couldn’t help but lean back, dodging the movement.
She opened her innocent eyes and asked, “Does that have to go on my nose?”
Watching those rabbit-like eyes, Sally couldn’t help but scream in her heart: So cute!!!
Perhaps Sang Zhijiu herself hadn’t realized it yet, but due to the secondary differentiation, her original “arrogant young miss” aura had weakened. Her entire person had begun to lean toward a delicate and lovely style. Even when she stared at someone with a blank expression, she unconsciously radiated a simple yet alluring charm.
It made one really want to pinch her!
Of course, Sally didn’t have the courage for that.
She cleared her throat and explained, “Yes. Brushing the tip of the nose and the corners of the eyes slightly red makes you look pitiful and endearing. Zhijiu, you just went through the secondary differentiation, and the fans are very worried about you. Strengthening this direction will make more people sympathize with you and fall in love with you!”
Sang Zhijiu was resistant. “I don’t need people to pity me.”
Sally persuaded her, “Ahem, it’s not just pity. This makeup also makes you look more energetic and helps salvage the negative impression from the recent incident.”
Hearing this, Sang Zhijiu finally compromised: “Fine. Don’t brush it on too heavily.”
Sally nodded. As she worked, she couldn’t help but say, “Are you still not quite used to your new gender?”
Sang Zhijiu’s eyelids drooped. “It’s not just the gender. My entire self-perception is very blurred right now.”
Sally laughed. She gave advice as a “senior Omega”: “We Omegas are different from Betas. You can appropriately show your fragile side. Combined with your own charm, you’ll be invincible against those Alphas and Betas.”
Sang Zhijiu didn’t take these words to heart, muttering in a low voice, “Who wants to deal with those annoying Alphas?”
Soon, the sky outside darkened. Sally finished her work and left with her assistant.
A-Kang went downstairs to get the car. Inside the vehicle, Sang Zhijiu finally saw Lin Jiahe, who had disappeared for two days.
When Lin Jiahe saw her, her eyes went dark. “It’s over.”
Sang Zhijiu glanced at her sideways. “Hm?”
Lin Jiahe said sincerely, “Zhijiu, I’m sorry. It turns out I was holding you back all along. The style that suits you best is actually the ‘sweet girl’ style!”
Ignoring her formal dress, Sang Zhijiu knelt on the car seat with a swish of her skirt and reached out to grab Lin Jiahe’s neck. “I’ll show you today what a real ‘sweet girl’ style looks like!”
Lin Jiahe begged for mercy repeatedly.
After finally putting out Sang Zhijiu’s fire, she let out a sigh of relief and got down to business: “Did you memorize the script I sent you yesterday? This is your first appearance as an Omega, and a large crowd of media is waiting for you at the gala.”
Sang Zhijiu complained, “What kind of stupid nonsense did you write? ‘After differentiating into an Omega, I hope everyone dotes on me more.’ Is that something a normal person says?”
Lin Jiahe nodded boldly. “It’s something a normal Omega says.”
“But I’m not… uh, no, I am… hm…” Sang Zhijiu’s nerves were a bit jumbled. She wanted to refute Lin Jiahe but wasn’t sure if she should admit she was a “normal” Omega. After struggling for a few seconds, she gave up and gritted her teeth. “I just differentiated. I’m not a normal Omega at all.”
Lin Jiahe blinked. “That’s why I gave you the script, so you can try to ‘play’ a normal Omega!”
The logic was flawless. Sang Zhijiu’s eyes went wide, and she couldn’t think of a retort. She simply crossed her arms and leaned back against the seat, thinking spitefully, I won’t say those sappy things.
But the reality was far more severe than she could have imagined.
The gala had its own set of procedures; usually, media questions were arranged in the middle of the red carpet or after the event. However, as soon as Sang Zhijiu poked her head out of the car, an overwhelming number of lenses surged toward her like crazy.
Desperate for firsthand news, the media workers ignored event etiquette and gathered around Sang Zhijiu in defiance of the rules. At first, the rowdy group was only a small portion, but later, even those who followed the rules squeezed in, fearing they would fall behind.
The security guards tried desperately to maintain order, but their shouts were drowned out by the even louder roar of the crowd. Sang Zhijiu was blocked right at the entrance of the red carpet, “staring across the shore” at the gala’s host.
Helpless, she knew that if she didn’t deal with these people first, she would never walk the red carpet. She raised her hand to signal for silence, preparing to answer a few questions to calm the reporters down.
To her surprise, the questions were increasingly sharp.
“Miss Sang Zhijiu, are you truly a secondary differentiation? There are rumors that you have always been an Omega and only pretended to be a Beta to gain improper benefits. What is your explanation?”
“Miss Sang Zhijiu, has your sexual orientation changed after differentiating into an Omega? Do you prefer Alphas or Omegas now?”
“Miss Sang Zhijiu, you once said Omegas.”
“Miss Sang Zhijiu…”
Although Sang Zhijiu had mentally prepared herself, facing such a relentless assault from the reporters, she remained dazed for a long time. Behind her, Lin Jiahe tried to squeeze in to help, but the media personnel ignored her completely.
For a rare moment, Sang Zhijiu began to panic.
Just as she was losing control and wanted to flee, a firm arm supported her back, stabilizing her trembling body.
Fan Wu, appearing out of nowhere, stood before the cameras with a dignified posture and a generous expression. Her lips were curled in a smile, but a small, dangerous storm was brewing in her eyes.
“To interrogate a Miss Omega like this, isn’t it a bit lacking in grace?”
Fan Wu was indeed a little angry. She had never even bullied the little one to this extent; what right did these media outlets have?
