After My Flash Marriage with the Movie Queen - Chapter 8
As expected, the first thing Shi Nanbei thought of after hearing that sentence was the dark circles under Zhao Xunyin’s eyes when she had come to pick her up from school. The thought made her feel a pang of guilt—had she gone too far this time?
Not only had she lied, but she hadn’t even apologized properly. When her eyes fell on Zhao Xunyin’s slightly weary, makeup-free face, even Shi Nanbei—usually playful and thick-skinned—knew it was time to say sorry. Especially since her wife had already softened her tone; if she kept acting stubborn now, that really wouldn’t do.
So she obediently lowered her head and admitted her mistake in a small voice:
“I’m sorry, jiejie. I shouldn’t have lied to you. I didn’t actually have any makeup work. I just wanted to play games.”
Zhao Xunyin raised an eyebrow, latching onto the wrong part of the sentence.
“Jiejie?”
So now that she was thirteen years older, she had to be called sister? Really?
Shi Nanbei completely missed her point. Thinking Zhao Xunyin was still mad, she quickly changed her address to something more flattering:
“Wife, my dear wife.”
Zhao Xunyin: “…”
Wow. What a little bootlicker.
“Come on, to the bedroom.”
Zhao Xunyin knew exactly how to deal with disobedient kids.
Shi Nanbei finally lifted her head, blinking in confusion.
“Why are we going to the bedroom?”
But the moment she saw Zhao Xunyin’s cold, expressionless face, she felt a bit scared. Trying to lighten the mood, she smiled ingratiatingly and cooed,
“Wife”
Zhao Xunyin: “…”
She had never heard anyone say the word “wife” in such a syrupy tone before.
The sound alone gave Zhao Xunyin goosebumps. She finally understood—Shi Nanbei wasn’t the sweet, innocent girl she looked like on the outside. Behind that pretty face was a head full of mischief, and all of it seemed to spill right onto her.
“Speak properly.”
Zhao Xunyin grabbed Shi Nanbei by the collar like she used to when the girl was younger, and with clear disdain, dragged her straight into the room and tossed her onto the bed.
“Um”
As soon as her body hit the mattress, Shi Nanbei bounced up like she’d been burned. Looking nervously at Zhao Xunyin standing at the bedside, she stammered,
“You’re not planning to sleep with me right now, are you?”
What the heck, she was still a virgin here! Shouldn’t they, like, play some music or something to set the mood first?
Zhao Xunyin was speechless. This kid was going to be the death of her. No matter how good her temper was, she had her limits.
Finally, unable to stand it any longer, she snapped:
“Shut up! Just sleep properly with me. What do you mean sleep with you? You really think too highly of yourself! What on earth is going on in that filthy little brain of yours all day?”
Shi Nanbei looked aggrieved.
“Oh”
What did she mean by filthy little brain? Wasn’t it perfectly normal to have her wife on her mind? How could thinking about being close to her wife be considered “filthy”?
Hmph. My wife’s so fierce.
Zhao Xunyin: “…”
For some reason, watching Shi Nanbei’s crestfallen expression made Zhao Xunyin sigh inwardly.
What was wrong with kids these days? Couldn’t they focus on building socialist core values instead of thinking about “sleeping” all the time? Where was the spirit of the next generation of model citizens?
In the end, Zhao Xunyin dragged Shi Nanbei onto the bed and made her stay there until seven in the evening. At first, Shi Nanbei was determined not to fall asleep. It was her first time sleeping beside her wife—she had to hold her ground! She couldn’t let Zhao Xunyin think she was some cowardly little shrimp.
Yes, an Alpha must always project strength!
Even if she was younger and shorter, she could still well, do things Jinjiang wouldn’t allow her to say out loud.
At least that was what she intended.
But the moment she caught the faint, clean scent of shower gel wafting from Zhao Xunyin beside her, she relaxed without meaning to—and promptly drifted off to sleep.
When the alarm rang, Zhao Xunyin woke up instantly, her body trained by years of habit. Turning her head, she saw that Shi Nanbei was still asleep, the alarm blaring away. The noise must’ve gotten to her, though—Shi Nanbei mumbled something, turned over, and snuggled right into Zhao Xunyin’s arms.
Half-asleep, she murmured,
“Lili, turn off the alarm.”
Zhao Xunyin, who had never been called by the wrong name before: “…”
Was this girl deliberately trying to piss her off?
First it was brother and sister, and now Lili? She had a sweet mouth for everyone—but why couldn’t she ever call her name right?
Was Zhao Xunyin not good enough for her or what?
Smack!
In a flash of jealousy, Zhao Xunyin’s hand came down on Shi Nanbei’s butt. It wasn’t hard, but it was loud enough to startle her awake.
Still dazed, Shi Nanbei blinked at the beautiful face in front of her and muttered,
“Who’s this? She’s so pretty.”
It was a nice compliment, but for a woman as seasoned as Zhao Xunyin, it didn’t work anymore. Her expression remained calm as water.
“Your wife,” she said coolly.
Shi Nanbei froze. “…”
Wait—did the heavens bless her that much? She actually married someone this beautiful?
Then it hit her—oh right, she did have a wife. Her grandma had just told her a few days ago.
Heaven truly smiled upon her.
Shi Nanbei’s eyes curved into crescents, and she called out sweetly,
“Wife”
Zhao Xunyin: “…”
Ignoring the cutesy act, Zhao Xunyin asked,
“Who’s Lili?”
“My roommate,” Shi Nanbei yawned, still clueless that her casual words had made Zhao Xunyin jealous—and accidentally soothed her too.
She had stayed up late last night gaming with her dorm mates, so she was exhausted. But after sleeping beside Zhao Xunyin, she felt much better.
“What time is it now?”
Zhao Xunyin glanced at the clock.
“Seven-thirty.”
Shi Nanbei hummed and snuggled lazily into her arms again.
“Beibei’s still sleepy.”
“What, were you out stealing cows last night?” Zhao Xunyin said, sitting up and pulling Shi Nanbei up with her. “Studying so hard you’re exhausted?”
The reminder made Shi Nanbei guilty all over again.
“Uh, not really.”
Zhao Xunyin didn’t notice. Picking up a towel, she headed to the bathroom and asked,
“Wanna shower together?”
Shi Nanbei immediately perked up. She had admired Zhao Xunyin’s beauty for so long, but she still had to play the part of a proper young lady. Sleeping together on day one was already pushing it—showering together would be too much, right?
Even though she really wanted to.
But good manners demanded at least a couple polite refusals.
So she waved her hands hastily.
“No, no, I’ll just wash my face.”
She turned to leave, but Zhao Xunyin’s voice stopped her.
“Where are you going?”
“The public restroom—to wash my face,” Shi Nanbei said, trying to sound casual even as excitement bubbled inside her.
“There’s no cleanser or skincare there. Come here.”
Zhao Xunyin squeezed some cleanser into her palm and handed it to her.
“You’ve got nice skin, but it’s a little dry. Use this one—it suits you. Afterward, there’s toner and lotion in the cabinet. Use the SK-II set; it’s refreshing and not greasy.”
Living with another woman had its perks—sharing beauty products and swapping skincare tips among them.
Shi Nanbei was overjoyed. She obediently washed her face. The bathroom was spacious, and Zhao Xunyin showered in the stall behind her. To prove how proper she was, Shi Nanbei kept her eyes fixed on the mirror the entire time, not daring to look back.
Sure, she wanted to look. But her wife hadn’t given permission—and a respectful wife should honor her partner’s privacy!
No peeking! she told herself firmly.
Still, it was torture. Imagine—your long-time idol was right behind you, separated only by a thin shower curtain. One turn of your head, and you could see that perfect figure.
Could you resist?
Shi Nanbei could—though not out of virtue. She was just too shy. She was afraid that if she looked, she’d start a nosebleed on the spot.
Fortunately, Zhao Xunyin finished quickly. Just as Shi Nanbei dried her face, Zhao Xunyin stepped out, towel-drying her hair.
Shi Nanbei turned and opened the vanity cabinet—and gasped.
“Wow!”
The shelves were packed with luxury-brand cosmetics. Her eyes sparkled. What girl didn’t dream of owning a drawer full of name-brand makeup?
I could get used to this.
Marrying a celebrity was amazing. She was starting to think maybe she shouldn’t get divorced after all.
“What’s wrong?” Zhao Xunyin asked, walking over while toweling her hair.
“You have so much makeup!” Shi Nanbei’s voice was practically dripping with envy. The thought of all the “naughty” ideas she’d had earlier vanished completely. Looking at Zhao Xunyin, fresh and radiant from her shower, she thought dreamily—being a celebrity must be great. So many cosmetics you could never finish them all.
Sigh, tragic.
“You like them?” Zhao Xunyin smiled, her every gesture exuding effortless, mature charm. “They’re all yours.”
For a moment, Shi Nanbei just stared, speechless. Then, looking at the woman, she’d sworn as a schoolgirl she’d one day marry, she said from the heart:
“Zhao Xunyin, it’s really great being married to you.”
Even if Grandma broke her legs, she’d never agree to a divorce!
The shamelessly lovestruck Shi Nanbei swore this solemnly in her heart.
