Obsessive Love, The Possessive Real Young Lady - Chapter 1
“The daughter of a nanny, what’s there to be so cocky about!”
Su Sui ignored her, bent down to pick up her book, but was suddenly shoved.
She lost her balance and fell to the ground, her forehead hitting a stone platform squarely.
After a dizzying moment, a warm stream flowed slowly down her temples.
Yet, Su Sui’s face remained devoid of any emotion, and she didn’t even frown.
She brushed the dirt off her clothes, picked up the book beside her, and prepared to leave.
But the person who pushed her stepped on her hand: “Did we say you could leave?”
The speaker even ground her foot down hard.
Su Sui’s fingertips dug desperately into the dirt as she looked up at the person stepping on her.
Chen Qianqian was one of Shen Jiayan’s many friends, and her family was in the building materials business.
The two behind her had more or less ties to the Shen Group, so naturally, they all took their cues from Shen Jiayan.
Chen Qianqian was irritated by Su Sui’s gaze.
She just couldn’t stand Su Sui. Even though Su Sui’s birth and family were nowhere near as good as theirs, these rich young ladies.
She was pretty, and being pretty was one thing.
But the inherent aura of refinement she possessed was just utterly annoying.
Chen Qianqian raised her hand and slapped Su Sui across the face.
The distinct finger marks stung fiercely on her cheek.
Su Sui licked her throbbing teeth: “Can I leave now?”
Her beautiful eyes showed not a hint of submission, even harboring a touch of mockery.
This infuriated Chen Qianqian, who raised her foot and kicked Su Sui’s head.
With the leader making a move, the others naturally followed suit.
Sharp shoe tips aimed specifically at the most vulnerable parts of Su Sui’s body, with several kicks even targeting her abdomen.
Su Sui covered her head, curling her body as tightly as possible. Her gaze, however, drifted towards the pair of sneakers hidden behind a corner.
Su Sui silently began counting in her mind. She wasn’t counting how many times she was hit.
She was counting when that person would come out to help her.
The count stopped at 36.
The sneakers moved.
But the direction was opposite to Su Sui.
Su Sui’s heart was pierced, a sharp, lingering ache.
Is she still angry?
Before the pain could subside, the sneakers returned.
Closer and closer.
Su Sui’s tightly pressed lips curved.
“Enough.” Shen Jiayan pushed Chen Qianqian away: “Don’t you know you have to look at the owner before beating a dog?”
Chen Qianqian was confused: “Jiayan, we were trying to vent your frustration.”
A few days ago, the Shen Group held a cocktail party to celebrate the group’s anniversary.
On such an important day, Shen Jiayan’s father, Shen Wenshan, brought his family’s nanny’s daughter to the banquet and even introduced her to industry leaders, clearly intending to groom her.
The others saw it, felt indignant, but were mostly jealous that a ‘country bumpkin’ was somehow managing to do better than them.
“Vent my frustration?” Shen Jiayan laughed: “Are you sure you were venting my frustration?”
At this question, Chen Qianqian instantly lost her momentum.
“Fine, consider us meddling.” Chen Qianqian and the others snorted coldly, “But, Jiayan, as friends, we’ll give you a kind warning.”
“Be careful about getting a stepmother.”
Chen Qianqian left after saying this.
In the spacious garden, only Su Sui and Shen Jiayan remained.
One lay on the ground, the other stood tall.
The weather in April was neither cold nor hot, especially in the afternoon, the temperature was just perfect.
The sun lazily scattered across the ground, and the air was filled with the fragrance of flowers and grass.
After a while, Shen Jiayan moved first.
She used the tip of her shoe to lift Su Sui’s chin, staring at her for a long time: “Were you wrong?”
Others might not understand this question.
But Su Sui understood.
She knew from the start that Shen Jiayan was hiding in the corner, and she even knew exactly what the other person was waiting for.
She was waiting for resistance.
Resistance to humiliation, resistance to meek acceptance.
But Su Sui refused.
Su Sui curved her bloody mouth into a smile toward her: “I was wrong.”
“What was your mistake?” Shen Jiayan asked again.
“I am your toy, I shouldn’t have been touched by them.”
Shen Jiayan frowned slightly. This answer was correct in a way, but not entirely.
But looking at those eyes, as bright as starlight, Shen Jiayan felt a sharp aversion and didn’t want to waste more words explaining.
“Get back to where you belong.”
Feeling uncomfortable under Su Sui’s clingy gaze, Shen Jiayan turned and left without any hesitation.
Not until her figure disappeared around the corner.
Su Sui retracted her gaze, picked up the book, stood up, and skillfully headed to the wine cellar.
Behind the wooden door, however, was the darkness she feared most.
Su Sui tightened her grip on the book, but still pushed the door open and walked in.
The moment the door closed, the pitch-black darkness instantly swallowed her.
Su Sui trembled all over, leaning against the door frame as she sat on the floor.
Since she could remember, her childhood was mostly spent in a dark wardrobe. And all of this was bestowed by a woman called “Mom.”
The woman’s curses repeated constantly in Su Sui’s mind.
“You burden, why don’t you just die.”
“I shouldn’t have raised you.”
Su Sui hugged her head, trying to drive the voice out. But the voice became clearer.
She found it increasingly difficult to distinguish whether the fluid on her face was tears or sweat.
Shen Jiayan returned to her room and locked the door.
She sat in front of the vanity mirror, looking at her reflection.
Although not as naturally stunning as Su Sui’s face, her reflection was quite eye catching in a crowd.
Fair skin, beautiful face, and alluring eyes.
The only flaw was that she didn’t look like her father, Shen Wenshan.
The more Shen Jiayan looked, the angrier she got. She picked up the most expensive serum on the counter and smashed it against the mirror.
In an instant, the mirror and the glass bottle shattered, and flying fragments cut her hand.
In pain, she swept all the items on the counter onto the floor.
Clatter, clatter.
This soon attracted the attention of the live-in nanny, Aunt Su.
She practically ran to Shen Jiayan’s door, so anxious that she even forgot her manners: “Miss…”
As soon as the words left her mouth, a beautiful vase was thrown at her, hitting her squarely in the chest.
Flowers and water spilled all over the floor.
“Get out!” Shen Jiayan looked at her coldly.
She didn’t like Aunt Su. Even though Aunt Su treated her meticulously well, like her own child.
Shen Jiayan still disliked her.
It wasn’t because of Chen Qianqian’s “Stepmother” comment.
They lived under the same roof.
Shen Jiayan knew her father looked down on a vulgar woman like Aunt Su.
Aunt Su closed the door but didn’t leave.
Shen Jiayan knew: “Get far away from me!”
With a furious shout, Aunt Su walked away with a sorrowful expression.
Shen Jiayan smashed everything she could in the room. Anyway, her father would just buy identical replacements.
The Shen family wasn’t short on money.
Tired from smashing things, Shen Jiayan simply lay down on the floor and fell asleep.
When she woke up, it was already the next morning.
Aunt Su was waiting outside the door with breakfast. Seeing the door open, her anxious expression finally subsided: “Miss, you’re awake.”
Shen Jiayan ignored her, grabbed a piece of bread, bit into it, and walked past her, intending to go out and play with Chen Qianqian and the others.
The moment she arrived in the living room, she saw a travel worn Shen Wenshan and the driver preparing to enter the house.
Shen Jiayan dropped the bread: “Why didn’t you tell me earlier that my dad was back?”
Aunt Su was full of apologies: “Sir didn’t say…”
“Useless.” Shen Jiayan cut her off: “Go call your daughter over.”
After instructing Aunt Su, Shen Jiayan quickly went upstairs, changed out of her overly flashy and revealing clothes, wiped off her heavy makeup, and tied her hair into a ponytail.
Compared to her earlier glamour, this outfit looked more youthful and energetic.
She descended the stairs with light steps and, as expected, saw Shen Wenshan having breakfast with Su Sui in the dining room.
It was almost laughable that she, the Shen family’s daughter, had to rely on Su Sui’s presence to have a meal or a conversation with her wealthy and powerful father.
Shen Jiayan frowned, looking at the mere arm’s length distance between her father and Su Sui.
But quickly, she suppressed the discomfort in her chest. She put on a well-behaved expression and sat down across from Shen Wenshan.
Shen Jiayan smiled exceptionally sweetly: “Dad.”
Shen Wenshan didn’t turn his head, replying coldly: “Mm.”
Then he spoke to Su Sui: “Little Su, have you finished the book I sent you last time?”
“Yes, I have.”
Su Sui’s almost sickly pale face showed no expression. Her tone was completely normal, even distant.
But Shen Wenshan didn’t seem to mind, his eyes carried a smile: “I rushed back this time and didn’t buy any books, I’ll make it up to you next time.”
Su Sui: “Uncle Shen, you don’t need to.”
Shen Jiayan watched them with cold eyes.
She, his biological daughter, truly couldn’t catch his attention. No matter how much she pretended to be good, how much she tried to become the way he liked.
Her good father was unwilling to say one extra word to her.
The fingers of Shen Jiayan’s hand gripping her chopsticks turned slightly white, and her eyes stung fiercely.
After breakfast, Shen Wenshan left in a hurry.
As soon as he left, Shen Jiayan also went out. She drove recklessly, without a destination.
Before she knew it, she arrived at the cemetery.
She looked up at the cemetery gates; her deceased mother was buried inside.
She died on Shen Jiayan’s first birthday.
Shen Jiayan had no impression of her, only hearing snippets from the gossip of relatives.
They said she was shameless, getting pregnant with someone else’s child before marriage, marrying Shen Wenshan while hiding it from everyone. In the end, she preferred to die rather than take a paternity test.
In a daze, Shen Jiayan stood before the dark, desolate tombstone.
After her mother died, her father burned all traces of her, and there wasn’t even a photo on the tombstone.
Shen Jiayan looked at the lonely name on the tombstone.
Father must hate Mother, right.
So he also hates her, and wishes he could kill her.
Thinking this, Shen Jiayan took a deep breath and sat down beside the grave.
She pulled out a cigarette from her bag, lit one, and rested her head against the tombstone.
Shen Jiayan didn’t understand why her mother had to choose this way to prove her innocence when a paternity test could have slapped her father in the face.
It was too stupid, ridiculously stupid.
In this world, besides her child, who would care about her death?
Not even her blood relatives, her maternal grandparents, cared.
A business marriage what was kinship in the face of profit? Moreover, their daughter might have been the one at fault.
The number of cigarette butts at Shen Jiayan’s feet grew, until the air around her began to grow cold. Only then did she clean up the ground and stand up.
She touched the name on the tombstone: “Mom, if you were still alive, would you love me?”
After saying this, Shen Jiayan laughed mockingly.
Mom probably didn’t love her, right? Otherwise, how could she have chosen to commit suicide on her birthday?
After leaving the cemetery, Shen Jiayan went to a bar with Chen Qianqian and the others, drinking until the early morning before returning home.
She pushed open her bedroom door and saw Su Sui sitting at the desk, holding a book.
Hearing the door open, Su Sui consciously closed the book, took off her pajamas, and approached the slightly drunk Shen Jiayan with an object in her hand.
“I’ve washed up, we can start now.”
