Not A Stupid Beauty [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 18
The surroundings became noisy, couldn’t hear anything. The coffee slid down her cheeks, leaving a large stain on her dress. A few half-melted ice cubes were still clinging to her chest.
She looked up and saw the person who had thrown the coffee looking at her with an arrogant and disdainful expression.
Shi Yu had a vague impression of her but didn’t know much. She only knew her name was Pei Yi, and she was Pei Shuyu’s cousin.
When she was in the Pei family, Pei Yi never liked her, the illegitimate daughter. But she only showed it on her face and never got physical.
Jiang Qiuyan stood in front of Shi Yu, protecting her. She looked at Pei Yi with a sharp gaze.
“If you’re sick, go to the hospital. Don’t come to a public place and act crazy.”
Because of Jiang Qiuyan’s status, Pei Yi didn’t dare to snap back. She turned her anger on Shi Yu.
“It’s obviously Shuiyu, the home-wrecker, who ruined your relationship with Yuyu. And you’re protecting her? How is Yuyu not as good as her? How could you break off your engagement with her for Shi Yu?”
Shi Yu looked at Jiang Qiuyan’s back and pursed her lips with a complicated expression.
She had thought Jiang Qiuyan had only said that to anger Shi Huaixin. She never expected her to actually call off the engagement.
She has a crush on Pei Shuyu but quickly ended her engagement with her? Shuiyu couldn’t understand her.
“This is between us. Who are you to interfere?” Jiang Qiuyan’s expression was grim, and she gave off an air of oppression. “Miss Pei, do you know what the consequences are for sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong?”
Pei Yi’s face changed, but she didn’t want to back down.
“I’m doing the right thing! Everyone, look! This omega is a home-wrecker who intentionally ruins other people’s relationships. She’s a shameless gold digger!”
Shuiyu opened her mouth, realizing she couldn’t argue.
Even if Pei Shuyu had someone else she liked, it was still true that she had gotten involved with Jiang Qiuyan during their engagement. It was also true that she had taken the 200,000 yuan Jiang Qiuyan gave her.
In other words, what Pei Yi said was true.
Even though the restaurant staff had come out to stop them, many people were still recording with their phones. People were always interested in this kind of sensational news.
Jiang Qiuyan kept protecting Shuiyu, shielding her from the cameras. She didn’t waste any more words on Pei Yi and called the police directly. The police came in less than half an hour, along with Jiang Qiunian.
Shi Yu wore Jiang Qiuyan’s jacket and stood silently beside her. From her disheveled appearance, it was clear that she had been through something bad.
The police wanted them to give their statements. Jiang Qiuyan held Shi Yu’s hand and said softly, “Don’t be afraid. It’ll be fine.”
Shuiyu nodded and followed her.
Jiang Qiunian stayed behind to handle things. She threatened and persuaded the people who took videos to delete them. She didn’t leave until she was sure no one had a video.
After she left, a waiter came out of the kitchen furtively. In a secluded corner, he opened the video on his phone and showed a malicious grin.
Since Pei Yi was the one who started the fight, all the blame was on her. Jiang Qiuyan pressured the police to have her arrested.
A police officer said, “She just threw a cup of coffee. It’s not that serious, is it?”
“Not that serious?” Jiang Qiuyan’s eyes narrowed. She was radiating coldness. “We were just having dinner, and she suddenly ran out and went crazy, scaring this child so badly. Do you think that’s okay?”
The police officer looked at Shuiyu, who was hiding behind her, and had nothing to say.
Jiang Qiuyan clenched her fist, trying her best to control the frustration in her heart. If there hadn’t been so many people watching, she wouldn’t have called the police. If the police didn’t arrest Pei Yi, she would have dealt with her in her own way.
Shi Yu tugged on her sleeve and whispered, “Let’s just drop it and go home.”
Jiang Qiuyan looked at the little cat, who didn’t dare to look up. Her heart felt squeezed, sore, and swollen. She gently said, “Okay,” and gave Pei Yi a long, deep look from a distance.
Pei Yi shivered and hid behind a police officer.
When they got home, Shi Yu went straight into the bathroom. She was there for an exceptionally long time, more than half an hour. Jiang Qiuyan waited for a while, afraid that she was overthinking again. She pushed the door open in frustration.
Shi Yu was lost in thought and didn’t even notice Jiang Qiuyan had come in.
Jiang Qiuyan walked to the bathtub and knelt down. “What are you thinking about, my little one?” she asked softly.
Shuiyu turned her head and looked at her. Her big, round eyes were dull.
“Miss Jiang, can you buy me a ticket to Beicheng?”
Jiang Qiuyan’s expression instantly changed. Her hand on the edge of the bathtub instinctively tightened. She tried to ask in a calm voice, “What do you need a ticket for? Do you want to go there to have fun?”
Shi Yu didn’t say anything else and buried her face between her knees.
Without the answer she wanted, Jiang Qiuyan became anxious. She carried Shi Yu out of the bathtub and did all the things she had done for her before, but Shuiyu wasn’t as lively as usual. She was listless, like a soulless doll.
“Xiaoyu, look at me.”
Shi Yu looked up at her, and when the kiss landed on her lips, she obediently opened her mouth and cooperated. Jiang Qiuyan had never been so gentle, as if she were handling a fragile treasure.
When the long, soft kiss ended, Jiang Qiuyan held her in her arms. She wanted to tell her how she felt, to lay it all bare for Shi Yu to see. But the little cat had been scared today. She decided to give her more time to recover and tell her when she was feeling better.
The person was in her arms, and she could even feel the little cat’s breathing and heartbeat, but she had a feeling that she was going to lose her at any moment. It made her feel uneasy for no reason.
For the next month, Jiang Qiuyan stayed with Shi Yu.
As for Shi Yu, after sleeping on it, she seemed to have forgotten about the incident. The next day, she acted as if nothing had happened. She ate and drank normally and spent every day with Jiang Qiuyan, reading, watching movies, and taking walks—all the things couples do.
During this time, Jiang Qiuyan ignored calls from other people and even took Shi Yu’s phone away. They lived a simple life without any electronics.
Shi Yu really liked this kind of life. It felt simple and genuine.
She became more and more dependent on Jiang Qiuyan and got more and more used to having her around. As long as she was with her, even if they didn’t do anything and just sat there in silence, she was happy.
But happy times were always short. Jiang Qiuyan couldn’t be with her forever.
Jiang Qiuyan was called back to work. Jiang Qiunian and Lu Tong had personally come to get her.
She didn’t want to go at first, but something happened at the company, and she couldn’t just ignore it as the president.
After Jiang Qiuyan left, Shuiyu found the phone she had hidden. Without even needing to search, she knew what had happened.
The video had still been posted online and quickly went viral. Someone was likely fanning the flames.
Since taking over the company, Jiang Qiuyan had never had any negative publicity. This time, the gossip spread at an abnormal speed. With people adding fuel to the fire and slandering her, it directly affected the company’s stock price.
Shi Yu clicked on hashtags like #JiangQiuyanHomeWrecker and #HomeWreckerVideo. They had already been blocked. There was no trace of them on the entire internet.
Shi Yu put her phone down and said to the maid who was busy in the kitchen, “I’m so sorry, Auntie, but I don’t think I can go to work. Can you please tell the boss to me?”
The maid noticed she wasn’t acting right and quickly said it was okay.
She had lost her previous cashier job, and the maid had found her a new one. She was supposed to start in a few days, but now it seemed like she couldn’t.
The moment she made her decision, she felt a lot more relaxed. Her phone vibrated, and Pei Shuyu’s name appeared on the screen.
Shi Yuhesitated for a moment and then answered the call.
“Xiaoyu, let’s meet up. In this situation, don’t you think we should figure something out?”
