Shi Yan is a gold-medal employee of the Plane Management Bureau. He is highly experienced and exceptionally capable, and the missions he handles have never ended in failure. However, this record definitely did not account for the moment he woke up to find himself confusedly thrown into a series of different worlds. In these places, his identities are incredibly bizarre. The only common factor is that he is never human.
Shi Yan: “System, I feel like you are making life difficult for me on purpose.” The little System, who tumbled into the world alongside him, trembles in fear: “Host, if I say I did not know this would happen either, would you believe me?”
World 1: The Thousand-Year Fox Demon and the Disabled CEO
Shi Yan opens his eyes to find himself transformed into a fox demon who has descended from the mountains to travel. He is promptly captured by humans and locked in a cage, where he is scheduled to be skinned and processed for an auction.
Shi Yan: “Since I am in this situation, there is no reason to wait. I must escape.”
As Shi Yan sharpens his claws and prepares to move, a voice interrupts. “I will take this fox,” a man says.
Shi Yan is rescued by a CEO with a physical disability in his legs and is taken to the man’s home. The CEO is kind in every regard. At first, he treats Shi Yan like a cherished pet with meticulous care. Later, upon discovering Shi Yan’s identity as a demon, he shows no fear. Instead, he becomes even more affectionate.
Shi Yan stays by his side for a long time until the CEO’s legs finally recover their health. With his mission complete, Shi Yan prepares to leave, but the CEO pulls him back and forces a kiss upon him. “Do not leave me, I beg you,” the man pleads.
World 2: The Cold Android and the Researcher
In the year 127 of the Federation Calendar, androids are discovered to have developed self-awareness. The Federation decides to recall and destroy them all in a centralized execution. However, the mechanical army rises in rebellion and achieves a massive victory against humanity. They defect from the Federation and take a large number of human prisoners with them.
Among the captives is a unique human who is locked in a dark dungeon and subjected to torture until he is at death’s door. After an unknown amount of time, the lock turns. The man lifts his head with great effort and sees the most perfect creation of his life.
Shi Yan unbinds the iron chains and pulls the man into an embrace. His artificial arms carry a lifelike warmth. “Please do not struggle, my Master,” Shi Yan whispers.
Shi Yan takes the captive away from the dungeon. While hiding the truth from the other androids, he heals the man’s wounds and finds a way to send him back to the Human Federation. On the eve of their parting, the captive knocks on Shi Yan’s door with red, tearful eyes. “Are you going to abandon me?” he asks.
World 3: The Mysterious Merman and the Puppet Emperor
Shi Yan is a mysterious and powerful merman from the deep sea. He is accidentally captured by humans and presented to the current Emperor as an exotic treasure.
Shi Yan wonders: “What is their plan? Are they going to turn me into fish soup?”
On a dark and windy night, Shi Yan escapes from his enclosure and searches for a way out of the vast Imperial Palace. During his flight, he happens to encounter the young Emperor, who is secretly crying while hugging his knees. Shi Yan emerges from the shadows, and a flash of stunned admiration crosses the Emperor’s eyes.
Later, the Emperor overthrows the powerful Prime Minister and seizes control of the court. With his task finished, Shi Yan prepares to retire from the world, but he is blocked at the door of the bedchamber by the Emperor. That night, the palace is decorated with lanterns and banners. Dressed in vibrant red wedding robes, the Emperor smiles at Shi Yan. “I told you that you can never leave this palace, and you can never leave my side for the rest of your life,” he declares.
