Mysterious Beautiful Wife at Home (GL) - Chapter 34
All three luxury cars were still in the parking lot, proving that Chi Nian had been picked up by someone. Zhang Yuning’s motorcycle, unused for so long, finally came in handy. If it weren’t for Chi Nian’s emphasis on grandeur and travel comfort, she wouldn’t have chosen to drive a car in the first place.
After a passionate night together, was she now out having fun? Zhang Yuning was almost certain about Chi Nian’s sexual orientation, though she still wasn’t sure whether Moonlight was actually An Lin.
The voice on the phone had been unfamiliar—had it been someone she knew, she would have recognized it. What kind of relationship involved taking a bath together at a time like this? Subconsciously, she already saw the other person as a “rival.”
She had looked into An Lin’s records again later. There were no reports of her death, and even after hacking into foreign civil registry websites, her information was still there, showing that she had inherited the family business. Basic social details were available, but there was almost no trace of her personal life or romantic history.
In other words, An Lin wasn’t dead. If she was Chi Nian’s Moonlight, there must be some unspeakable secret either she was being hidden away or undergoing treatment. But was An Lin really Moonlight?
Zhang Yuning’s motorcycle cut through the crowded streets like lightning, weaving swiftly through the endless flow of traffic.
Ju’an Villa was a private club, said to cater exclusively to female guests. The identity of its owner had always been a mystery.
Due to the terrain requirements for hot springs, Ju’an Hot Spring Villa was built between two artificial mountains. After the mountains were mined and connected, seawater was filtered, heated, and channeled into the pools.
Zhang Yuning raced over on her bike, arriving in just 20 minutes. Surprisingly, the security didn’t stop her. After parking her motorcycle, someone even guided her inside.
“Right this way, Miss Zhang.”
It was as if they had anticipated her arrival, and the staff all seemed to recognize her. This had to be another one of Chi Nian’s arrangements. Was this a deliberate setup, some kind of trap? Or was there another scheme at play?
She viewed every one of Chi Nian’s actions with suspicion. She didn’t believe Chi Nian was trustworthy.
Ju’an Villa boasted breathtaking natural scenery, its sea-and-sky views rivaling those of Haitian Bay. Artificially crafted rock formations took on various shapes, with clear springs running through bamboo groves. Hot springs nestled between the rocks emitted curling steam, while pebbled paths paved with blue tiles led deep into the villa.
Zhang Yuning wore her riding gear. A short red-and-black jacket paired with mid-calf black boots that accentuated her long legs. Her silhouette projected against the sliding door was striking and heroic.
Out of habit, she scanned her surroundings, noting the surveillance layout and checking for any suspicious individuals. These were instincts honed from her time as a bodyguard. Though Chi Nian was no longer in any real danger.
She was led to a secluded courtyard, where a long, traditional corridor adorned the man-made landscape with an antique charm.
“Miss Chi is inside. Please go ahead.” A staff member slid open the door, and Zhang Yuning stepped in. Passing through two more doors, she reached the hot spring, where misty vapors rose like thin fog.
She could see someone sitting inside, their back to the entrance, facing an artificial waterfall cascading down a rock formation. Beside the pool stood a set of wooden furniture, where a woman was flipping through a tablet. To her left, a curtain of water flowed down with a soothing rush, blending with the soft background music to create a serene atmosphere.
“Dr. Zhang is here,” the woman seated nearby announced.
Zhang Yuning walked over, and the two exchanged a glance. A faint smile lingered at the corners of the woman’s lips, her eyes slightly lifted as she stood up and extended her hand. “Hello, I’m Yu Kexun.”
Yu Kexun’s beauty was a perfect blend of strength and grace. Her features were sharp and well-defined, exuding an air of solemnity that subtly emanated from her brow. The restrained smile seemed to mask her sharpness, yet when it deepened, it revealed a thousand charms. Her beauty was unique, brimming with defiance and pride, surrounded by an aura of formidable combat energy.
Zhang Yuning looked at the outstretched hand but didn’t take it, instead turning her gaze to Chi Nian.
“Third Young Miss’s person,” Chi Nian said, tilting her face slightly, her flawless jawline on full display. Her hair was tied up in a bun, and droplets clung to her neck and collarbones. Her tone was as calm as still water, as if nothing had happened the night before.
“Hello, Zhang Yuning,” she said, finally reaching out to shake Yu Kexun’s hand. To her surprise, the other woman’s grip was strong, the pressure causing a sharp pain. Zhang Yuning, never one to back down, immediately returned the force.
She knew the Third Young Miss often had women around her, but they were usually just fleeting playthings, never allowed into Butterfly Manor. She hadn’t heard of this woman before. There had been rumors that Butterfly Manor had once made an exception for someone—could it have been Yu Kexun?
Yu Kexun carried a wild, untamed femininity, her face glowing with vitality, her smile radiant. Yet beneath the surface, her grip was a silent challenge, a warning, even a declaration of dominance. She was undeniably aggressive.
She must be highly skilled—perhaps even more so than Zhang Yuning herself. Despite exerting all her strength, Yu Kexun remained unfazed, though she soon released her grip, withdrawing her provocation. Zhang Yuning let go as well, her hand aching.
“Thank you for the information, Miss Chi. We’ll be in touch if needed,” Yu Kexun said, seemingly ready to leave.
Finally, Chi Nian turned and rose from the pool, her body wrapped in a sheer white robe that left little to the imagination. Yu Kexun reached for a nearby towel, but Zhang Yuning stepped forward to take it, asserting a sense of ownership. “No need to trouble yourself. I’ll handle it.”
Zhang Yuning disliked others getting too close to Chi Nian, even if it was all just an act. Yu Kexun didn’t seem bothered, merely raising an eyebrow before picking up her trench coat from the chair. “Then I won’t disturb you two any further. I’ll take my leave.”
“Take care, Miss Yu.”
Chi Nian stepped out of the pool, and Zhang Yuning draped the towel over her. Yu Kexun nodded, her lips curling into a knowing smile as she walked away.
Alone in the courtyard, Zhang Yuning noticed a bruise on Chi Nian’s shoulder.
“This bruise…” She wanted to ask if it was from last night, but Chi Nian dismissed it casually. “Just an accident.”
“How could you have accidentally done this to yourself?” Zhang Yuning recalled the details, realizing it must have been from her own rough handling. Gripping Chi Nian’s shoulders too tightly in the heat of the moment.
“I don’t remember.”
“Fine.” Pushing further would only make things awkward. Zhang Yuning’s gaze drifted to the doorway, where Yu Kexun was glancing back at her. Their eyes met, and Yu Kexun left with a meaningful smile.
Following Chi Nian into the changing room, Zhang Yuning couldn’t help but wonder why Yu Kexun had been the one to meet them this time. Normally, matters involving projects or relaying messages would have been handled by Lan Chengjin. Since when did the Third Young Miss have another trusted confidante?
Xiao Changying had very little trust in anyone. Due to past experiences, she remained constantly guarded against those around her. The fact that Yu Kexun could stay at Butterfly Manor was truly a testament to her exceptional skills.
Yu Kexun possessed astonishing strength and remarkable combat abilities—could she be one of Butterfly Manor’s bodyguards? What was even more infuriating was why she had to arrange to meet at such an intimate place as a hot spring, insisting on staying by Chi Nian’s side the entire time, even answering her calls?
Chi Nian was showering in a private stall while Zhang Yuning sat on a bench, staring blankly at the partition.
The shower stalls had half-length wooden doors, leaving gaps above and below—enough to obscure the middle of the body but revealing glimpses of Chi Nian’s neck and collarbone when looking up, or her thighs and below when looking down. It created a teasing, half-hidden allure that stirred the impulse to step inside and uncover more.
Last night’s prolonged intimacy had left Zhang Yuning utterly enthralled. She had taken pleasure in possessing Chi Nian, kissing every inch of her body and lingering repeatedly in her most private places. Each movement had been like crashing waves, sending surges of heat through her entire being, igniting every cell in her body.
Chi Nian was as skilled as ever—flirtatious, articulate, and vocal—leaving Zhang Yuning hopelessly lost in her tenderness. She had even tried to switch roles, but Chi Nian seemed uninterested, and coupled with her own overwhelming embarrassment, the attempt had been abandoned.
The sensations of possessing and being possessed must be entirely different. There were moments when Zhang Yuning longed to experience what it felt like to be the one taken. After all, this wasn’t their first time in bed together, nor the first time they had bared themselves to each other, nor the first time they had offered their most uninhibited selves.
Yet, despite the intoxicating pleasure of their lovemaking, waves of frustration and resentment had washed over Zhang Yuning throughout. The mere thought that Chi Nian might be seeing someone else in her, or the reality of being treated as an experiment, intensified her emotions—and, in turn, the force of her actions.
Now, with the sound of running water in her ears and echoes of Chi Nian’s moans from the night before, Zhang Yuning’s heart was in turmoil. She felt not only a desire for revenge but also an overwhelming possessiveness. The physical intimacy had bred dependency, yet none of it was real—none of it truly belonged to her.
Lost in her thoughts, she didn’t even notice when Chi Nian finished showering and approached. Only when someone drew near did she look up to find Chi Nian already pressing close, settling onto her lap, looping arms around her neck, and smirking as she asked, “What’s got you so lost in thought?”
“You,” Zhang Yuning answered without hesitation.
“What about me?”
“Why did you have to go to the hot springs with Yu Kexun?”
Chi Nian narrowed her eyes, pulling Zhang Yuning closer against her chest. “Are you jealous?”
“I’m worried you’re being manipulated. She’s a highly skilled woman.”
“She graduated from a spy academy—of course she’s skilled.”
Zhang Yuning stiffened. “A spy academy? The BR Spy Academy?” This was a shadowy organization, long rumored to exist but never confirmed. It made sense that Third Young Miss would have operatives under her, but Yu Kexun seemed different from the rest.
“Mhm. She came for the project, too.”
Zhang Yuning knew Chi Nian wouldn’t divulge more, so she didn’t press further. Still, her displeasure lingered on her face. Chi Nian pinched her cheek teasingly. “What’s wrong? Still upset?”
Their behavior today was subtle. It felt like a couple’s, yet it wasn’t that kind of relationship. But if it wasn’t, then what was the difference between this extreme ambiguity and being lovers? She wondered again: Did Chi Nian even know who she was really facing?
But after the two of them had been intimate, seeing Chi Nian again did feel different. Chi Nian’s attitude toward her also seemed to have shifted. It was hard to grasp what this woman was thinking. Zhang Yuning would always maintain emotional restraint and a degree of suspicion toward her.
Perhaps noticing Zhang Yuning’s obvious displeasure, Chi Nian added an explanation: “She’s the Third Young Miss’s woman. What do you think could happen between us?”
“What?” Zhang Yuning looked up, then found it unsurprising. A woman with both power and beauty being favored by the Third Young Miss was only natural. “I see.”
“Anyone who can climb into the Third Young Miss’s bed is certainly no ordinary person. So, she’s the main executor of the new project—more valued than even Lan Chengjin.”
“To think someone could surpass Chengjin…” Zhang Yuning accidentally let slip this intimate address. Only after speaking did she realize her slip of the tongue. She glanced up at Chi Nian, who smiled faintly and said, “What a shame. Otherwise, that executor might have been you.”
“What do you mean?”
“Exactly what I said. Don’t you understand?” Chi Nian’s intense gaze dimmed slightly. Just as she was about to stand, Zhang Yuning pulled her back into her arms. “Explain yourself clearly.”
Chi Nian didn’t struggle or resist, merely tilting Zhang Yuning’s chin up. “Don’t think I don’t know who you are. The Third Young Miss and I are in a strategic partnership now. There’s no need for you to keep pretending.”
So she knew—Zhang Yuning had always been the Third Young Miss’s person.
Zhang Yuning wasn’t sure how Chi Nian felt about this. Part of her wanted to explain, part of her didn’t. But she worried their relationship might end right here. After a moment of silence, she pulled Chi Nian closer by the waist and whispered, “I’m yours.”
