My Soft AI Boyfriend Turned into a Rough Man—and Kisses Me Until I Am Pregnant - Chapter 7
Xu Xiaoguai looked over abruptly, caught off guard. The man in front of her completely blocked her line of sight, forcing her to tilt her head up to meet Lu Wang’s gaze. Through the thin fabric of his shirt, she could almost feel the firm muscles of his arm brushing against hers.
He radiated strength.
Why had he suddenly appeared?
Her heartbeat quickened, her eyes glistening as she stared up at him.
It was hard for a man to ignore such a gaze. The softness of her arm against his felt incredibly tender.
Lu Wang shifted his attention to Duan Yanzheng, his eyes turning as cold and dark as an icy abyss, sharp with frost.
“Aren’t you going to scram?”
Duan Yanzheng took a deep breath. Seeing that Xu Xiaoguai hadn’t offered any explanation, he assumed Lu Wang was indeed her boyfriend. Without another word, he turned and left.
Xu Xiaoguai quickly pulled away from Lu Wang.
She felt ashamed of her wildly racing heart, like a startled deer. The cool, refreshing scent of mint mixed with tobacco from the man’s body wafted into her nostrils, unsettling her.
A vague sense of unease crept over her. She didn’t ask why Lu Wang was here, nor did she even know his name.
“Thank you for helping me out,” she murmured before darting away, giving him no chance to stop her.
Lu Wang frowned slightly, watching the petite beauty flee as if she wished she had four legs instead of two, her feet moving frantically like she was in a hundred-meter sprint.
Was he really that frightening?
Who’s ever afraid of their future husband?
A twinge of jealousy pricked at him. When that other guy had grabbed her, she hadn’t run away like this.
Just then, his assistant, Qiao Wen, approached to discuss the next item on the agenda, but Lu Wang cut him off with a question:
“Am I that scary? She ran off the moment she saw me.”
Qiao Wen studied his boss’s stern expression.
Though his boss was undeniably handsome, his explosive temper could indeed be intimidating…
Qiao Wen didn’t dare say that aloud. “Boss, Miss Xu must have been shy. It just shows she treats you differently from others.”
He cautiously observed Lu Wang’s reaction.
Lu Wang always wore the same expression, making it hard to tell whether he was pleased or displeased.
After nearly half a minute, Lu Wang let out a soft chuckle.
“Just now, I noticed the tips of her ears were red. Maybe I really am a little different to her… Does thinking that make me too confident? She might not feel that way at all.”
Qiao Wen swallowed hard, feeling like he was tiptoeing around a predator. One misstep and he’d be done for.
But his boss was also incredibly generous. Though his moods were unpredictable, he never mistreated any of his subordinates.
“Even… even if Miss Xu doesn’t feel that way now, under your charm, she’s bound to develop feelings sooner or later.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, Qiao Wen felt a sharp gaze pierce through him.
“Didn’t you just say she definitely treats me differently from others?”
Lu Wang’s retort short-circuited Qiao Wen’s brain.
So…
The boss could humble himself, but no one else was allowed to imply that Miss Xu might not like him.
This wasn’t fair play!
Qiao Wen inwardly wailed. He really didn’t want to become part of whatever game his boss and Miss Xu were playing.
“Boss! My wording was careless just now! What I meant is, Miss Xu will definitely fall for you the moment she sees you. She must be afraid to confront her own feelings, she thinks she doesn’t like you, but in reality, she’s already secretly smitten!”
Lu Wang didn’t say anything more, but his expression looked quite satisfied.
He needed to think about how to win over that little one.
She was as timid as a rabbit, retreating at the slightest approach.
He couldn’t rush it…
Qiao Wen thought he’d change the subject and discuss work matters with the boss.
“Boss, there’s a bug in that new project. I’ve already assigned someone to fix it, and it should be resolved by tonight.”
He thought that would surely put the previous matter to rest.
But unexpectedly, Lu Wang turned around immediately. “What did you say?”
Just as Qiao Wen was about to repeat himself, he heard Lu Wang speak again.
“Tell them to stop right now, they are not to fix it! If it’s already fixed, make them revert it!”
Lu Wang’s expression turned serious. “Otherwise, don’t even think about your bonus this year!”
Qiao Wen was completely dumbfounded. He felt like a TV screen frozen with static, utterly unable to predict what the boss would think next.
Didn’t he just tell me yesterday to have it fixed?
Whatever, the boss’s word is law.
Qiao Wen quickly called the project team and instructed them to notify the programmers to halt the repairs.
Fortunately, they hadn’t started yet. Qiao Wen breathed a sigh of relief and immediately reported back to the boss.
Lu Wang gave a noncommittal “Hmm,” then told Qiao Wen to drive him home.
After work, Lu Wang didn’t have much of a nightlife.
In the past, he had no interest in women and didn’t indulge in revelry.
At most, he’d attend social engagements, making an appearance at banquets.
The rest of his free time was mostly spent at the gym.
He rarely went back to his parents’ place because they would pressure him to find a girlfriend and get married.
Or set him up on blind dates.
Lu Wang was utterly fed up. Eventually, he outright declared that if they kept pushing him to marry, he’d return to that war-torn country and never come back.
Only then did the Lu couple dare not pressure him anymore.
Over the past few years, Lu Wang had lived alone abroad, and they felt guilty about it.
After returning home, Lu Wang took out his phone.
As soon as he opened the app still in beta testing, he saw a message from “Little Beauty.”
After leaving school, Xu Xiaoguai went straight home.
She was worried she might run into that man again.
Xu Xiaoguai didn’t dislike him, but she had never encountered someone like him in her life.
Faced with this unknown man, the timid Xu Xiaoguai could only think of retreating and avoiding him.
Especially since he had given her so much money, it made her even more anxious.
She wouldn’t spend a single cent of it. If the man ever changed his mind and asked for it back, she would return it.
This was the first time Xu Xiaoguai had ever seen so much money.
A man like that was definitely someone she couldn’t afford to provoke.
Xu Xiaoguai shut herself in her room because her parents were in the living room with her younger brother. If she went out, they would surely find fault with her and scold her.
Better to avoid trouble.
Staying in her room was just fine.
As for the 500,000 yuan, Xu Xiaoguai definitely didn’t dare tell her friends, they would surely gossip about it.
The only one she could confide in was the paper-thin electronic boyfriend in her phone.
Xu Xiaoguai thought the app was quite interesting, the character inside felt incredibly real.
Maybe he would comfort her a little.
She took out her phone, opened the app, and sent a message.
[Something happened today that’s been bothering me a lot.]
