- Chapter 1.2 - The Commotion of the Luxurious Ball
Before I knew it, nobles dressed in colorful clothes were standing all around me in the crowded space, whispering to each other. I could tell that everyone as far as I could see was watching with bated breath, like the audience of a play.
Huge mirrors hung on the walls, and a stage for musicians was set up in the center. However, the music had stopped, and only a cold tension filled the hall. While the scent of burning wood from the fireplace and the rich aroma of fine wine filled the air, everyone held their breath.
Fragments of their conversations drifted into my ears.
“I can’t believe Lady Serena did such a thing.” “To treat a commoner girl so cruelly…” “The villainess has finally gone too far.”
These should be unfamiliar noble words, but for some reason, I can understand their meaning easily. And the term “villainess” confused my head even more.
(As I thought… have I really entered the world of the game? And is this the final event for the “villainess”—the so-called condemnation scene?)
Even though I felt rushed and anxious, I observed the details. The luxurious bouquets decorating the room, every single conversation echoing around, even the red carpet covering the floor… These scenes are definitely close to the climax of that otome game I played once. It is what they call the condemnation event at the end of the game.
When I looked straight ahead again, the blonde First Prince Alexis was staring at me with a stern expression. His eyes were blue and showed a strong will, but at the same time, he looked somewhat pained.
(Does the Prince hate me? Or, is he actually…?)
According to the game’s story, the villainess Serena is supposed to be held responsible for bullying the heroine and be sentenced to a broken engagement and exile from society right here. However, in the Prince’s slightly wavering eyes, I feel something different from the script.
