My Possessive Boss Is Unexpectedly Needy - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Ever since returning from the hospital, Yu Zining had remained in a heavy silence.
Upon arriving at the villa, he didn’t linger in the living room for a moment, heading straight back to his room. Too much had happened over the past few days. He sat at his desk, staring at his reflection in the mirror, his eyes gradually reddening.
Click. The door opened.
Lu Yeyan walked in with a dark, somber face. Yu Zining stood up abruptly, keeping his head low, not daring to meet Lu Yeyan’s eyes. He didn’t know how to face this man.
Lu Yeyan sat across from him. After a long silence, he finally spoke.
“What happened to Yan Yuchen had nothing to do with me.”
Yu Zining kept his gaze down, offering no reaction.
Lu Yeyan’s brow furrowed, and he stood up suddenly. He stood a head taller than Yu Zining, and his overwhelming presence instantly bore down on him. He seemed volatile. “You don’t believe me?”
Yu Zining’s heart trembled. He shakily reached out to gesture: No, I don’t. These things… it isn’t my place to harbor suspicions.
Perhaps something was lost in translation, because in the next second, Lu Yeyan lunged forward and grabbed Yu Zining’s neck, slamming him into the corner.
Terrified by Lu Yeyan’s sudden erratic behavior, Yu Zining desperately clawed at the large hand constricted around his throat. Lu Yeyan’s bloodshot eyes stared at him without a hint of mercy, as if looking at a mere toy.
“I said, I didn’t do it. They don’t believe me, and now even you don’t believe me! I’m telling you, in this world, you must always stand by my side. Do you understand?”
Lu Yeyan’s voice boomed at the end, making Yu Zining’s entire body shudder. He looked at Lu Yeyan in terror, his eyes welling up with tears as he nodded frantically.
Looking at the person before him, Lu Yeyan’s eyes flickered with an unidentifiable emotion. Then, he tossed Yu Zining onto the bed.
Once released, Yu Zining gasped for air, his neck burning with stinging pain. Lu Yeyan glanced at him and left him with one final instruction: “Tomorrow, Shen Ziqi will take you to the hotel to prepare for the wedding.”
Watching the man’s retreating back, Yu Zining’s tears fell onto the bedsheets. He is a monster. No matter how I try to run, I can never escape this fate.
…
The Next Day
Shen Ziqi arrived on time to pick up Yu Zining. This time, Lu Yeyan did not go to the office.
He sat beside Yu Zining, watching the scenery pass by as the car moved. Yu Zining felt incredibly uncomfortable, his hands clenched tightly together on his lap, remaining motionless.
They soon arrived at the Dujin Hotel, the most prestigious hotel in all of H City. Yu Zining followed them inside. As usual, wherever Lu Yeyan went, a crowd of people was there to serve him.
The hotel manager greeted them expertly. “Mr. Lu, the Presidential Suite has been prepared for you.”
Yu Zining looked around. True to its five-star status, even the lobby was magnificent, with a priceless piano tucked into a corner as decoration. There were wine bars, restaurants, and cloakrooms occupying various areas of the first floor. The greeting staff stood in rows, hair neatly pinned back, wearing sharp uniforms and towering heels that accentuated their long legs.
The manager led them into the elevator and pressed the button for the eighth floor—the designated area for the Presidential Suites.
Ding—
The elevator doors slid open. With a professional smile, the manager held the door for them and bowed. He then led them to the door of Room 818.
The door opened, and the first thing Yu Zining noticed was a massive floor-to-ceiling window. The room was spacious, featuring a brown openwork wall with a large LCD TV.
“Guest check-in detected. Adjusting to the optimal indoor temperature based on outdoor conditions.” A mechanical voice emitted from a small white box in the corner.
Yu Zining startled, looking at the device with wonder.
The manager quickly explained, “This is our new smart climate assistant. it adjusts the room’s temperature for maximum comfort.”
The entire suite was decorated in a European vintage style, complete with a wet bar, a smart refrigerator, and a service robot—it felt like a miniature villa.
Lu Yeyan remained silent, simply walking over to the white sofa and sitting down. Shen Ziqi understood that Lu Yeyan was satisfied with the room. She turned to the manager and said, “We’ll take this one. You may go now; I will handle the payment shortly.”
The manager beamed, unable to hide his delight. “No rush at all! Having Mr. Lu here is truly our honor.” He then quietly exited the room.
Lu Yeyan looked at Yu Zining, who was standing nearby, and patted the seat next to him, signaling him to sit.
Yu Zining lowered his eyes and sat obediently beside Lu Yeyan. To avoid another outburst of anger, he managed a small smile. Lu Yeyan seemed to fall for it; he appeared quite pleased. After Yu Zining sat down, he actually took Zining’s hand and began to play with it idly.
Witnessing this, Shen Ziqi felt like she was being force-fed a dose of PDA. She silently retreated out the door.
“Do you like this room?” Lu Yeyan asked.
Yu Zining nodded.
Lu Yeyan looked up at him and said, “The wedding planning is finished; everything is in motion. If you want to see the details, I’ll have Shen Ziqi send them to you.”
At this moment, Lu Yeyan was so gentle that it made Yu Zining feel disoriented. He even began to doubt if the man from last night was the same person.
“If you want, you can stay here and watch them decorate the bridal suite!”
Yu Zining was stunned. He looked at Lu Yeyan in surprise. He had assumed he would never have another chance to leave the villa and would simply be shuffled from one place to another. He hadn’t expected Lu Yeyan to actually let him out for some fresh air.
“What? You don’t want to?” Lu Yeyan noticed the lack of response, and his brow began to furrow.
Yu Zining hurriedly gestured: No, no, I do! I’m willing!
Only then did Lu Yeyan show a faint smile. “There are many wedding matters to attend to. I have many people to notify and much to be busy with. If you need anything, just tell Shen Ziqi.”
Yu Zining nodded. It seemed Lu Yeyan trusted Shen Ziqi deeply, leaving both big and small matters in her hands.
After that, Lu Yeyan fell silent, and they just sat there together. Yu Zining began to feel a wave of drowsiness—likely because Lu Yeyan’s scene from the night before had kept him from sleeping well.
His eyes slowly fluttered shut, and without realizing it, he fell asleep, his head coming to rest on Lu Yeyan’s shoulder.
