My Possessive Boss Is Unexpectedly Needy - Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Lu Yeyan sat by Yu Zining’s bedside, watching as the doctor took out the medicine to clean Zining’s wounds.
Lu Yeyan’s eyes darkened. Before the doctor’s cotton swab could touch Yu Zining, Lu Yeyan grabbed the doctor’s wrist.
“Get out!”
The doctor bowed, left the medicine behind, and retreated from the room.
Lu Yeyan picked up a cotton swab and began to gently clean Yu Zining’s wounds.
As the medication touched his skin, bursts of stinging pain seeped in. The unconscious Yu Zining furrowed his brows and let out a faint groan of pain.
Lu Yeyan paused. Looking at the person before him, a flicker of heartache actually appeared in his eyes.
Yu Zining didn’t know how long he had been unconscious. When he finally woke up, the sky was already dark. All he saw was Lu Yeyan leaning his head on his hand, asleep by the bed.
As expected, he was back here. Watching Lu Yeyan’s sleeping face, Yu Zining found himself momentarily mesmerized.
Lu Yeyan’s thin lips were pressed together; his well-defined face lacked its usual gloom, and his long eyelashes rested against his skin like butterflies on a flower.
A smile involuntarily played on Yu Zining’s lips. He thought to himself: You’re not so scary when you’re asleep.
As he watched, Yu Zining reached out his fair hand and gently stroked Lu Yeyan’s cheek.
Lu Yeyan slowly opened his eyes. Those eyes, which seemed to see through everything, met Yu Zining’s gaze. For some reason, Yu Zining felt that Lu Yeyan’s eyes held less violence and more tenderness than usual.
Embarrassed, Yu Zining quickly pulled his hand back.
Lu Yeyan lowered his gaze and stood up, looking at Yu Zining.
“Since you’re awake, go downstairs and eat something.”
Yu Zining didn’t speak. He gestured with his hands: Why? I lied to you.
Yu Zining didn’t know what Lu Yeyan was really up to, so he continued to hide the fact that he could actually speak. After all, if Lu Yeyan found out he had lied twice, he didn’t dare imagine what his fate would be.
The corner of Lu Yeyan’s mouth quirked. “You mean the fact that you’re a man?”
Yu Zining kept his eyes cast down and nodded.
To his surprise, Lu Yeyan burst into a fit of wanton laughter. “Hahaha…” The laughter stopped as abruptly as it began. Reverting to his usual self, Lu Yeyan pinned Yu Zining against the bed.
Lu Yeyan studied Yu Zining, narrowing his snake-like eyes. “Yu Zining, do you take me for a fool? I knew from the very first day you entered this villa!”
Yu Zining froze, staring at Lu Yeyan in disbelief.
“Don’t look at me like that. After all, the first time you lay on this bed, your physique made everything perfectly clear to me!”
As he spoke, Lu Yeyan shamelessly poked Yu Zining’s flat chest.
Seeing Yu Zining’s look of utter shock, Lu Yeyan stood up playfully and looked down at him.
Yu Zining got up and gestured: Then why did you…?
“Why did I still announce our marriage?”
Yu Zining nodded. He hoped Lu Yeyan would give him a straight answer.
But Lu Yeyan still avoided a direct reply, simply saying, “Others are too much trouble!”
Too much trouble. So, he was chosen because he was easy to control? It made sense. His family’s fate was already in this man’s hands; he had no right to refuse. For a businessman like Lu Yeyan, profit was always the priority.
Seeing Yu Zining’s silence, Lu Yeyan continued, “So, I want you to continue dressing as a woman! You know that you’ve already appeared before all the major media outlets.”
Dressing as a woman again. Another “woman.” Yu Zining had escaped one cage only to fall into another identical fire pit. He let out a cold laugh in his heart.
He never had a choice. Lu Yeyan had saved him, and for now, staying here and pleasing him was the only way to remain safe.
Lu Yeyan looked at Yu Zining’s pensive expression and started to say something, but the words died on his lips. He simply turned and walked out of the room.
When Yu Zining went downstairs, Lu Yeyan was already seated at the table eating.
“Mad—Yu—”
Facing Yu Zining in male clothing, the maid truly didn’t know how to address him.
Gu Yuan was quick-witted; he walked over and tapped the maid on the head. “You must be so happy to see Madam that you’ve forgotten how to speak. Madam, please have a seat.”
With that, Gu Yuan pulled out a chair for Yu Zining.
Yu Zining stole a glance at Lu Yeyan, who was drinking soup with his head down, and noticed that he actually had a smile on his face.
What are you laughing at? Laughing at my embarrassing situation? Yu Zining couldn’t help but roll his eyes at him.
…
At the Yan Group
“This is bad, Chairman!”
Yan Changzheng was in the middle of a meeting when his assistant rushed in frantically.
Yan Changzheng cleared his throat and said steadily, “What is it? Why such a panic!”
At his age, Yan Changzheng had seen it all. He gave his assistant a disparaging look.
The assistant hesitated before stuttering, “The eldest miss… Miss Yan has been in a car accident!”
“What?”
Yan Changzheng’s pupils shrunk. Without a word, he bolted out of the meeting room. It seemed reality had slapped him in the face rather quickly.
…
At the Hospital
Yan Yuchen’s face was wrapped in layer upon layer of gauze. The accident was severe; she had been sent to the ICU, hooked up to various machines. When Yan Changzheng saw her through the glass, he nearly fainted.
“Chenchen!”
Yan Changzheng had no sons, only this precious daughter. Beside him, Yan Yuchen’s mother, Mu Zhen, was already weeping uncontrollably.
Mu Zhen grabbed Yan Changzheng desperately. “What happened? How did this happen?”
Yan Changzheng slowly regained his composure. He roared at the people following him, “What happened!”
One person from the group that usually followed Yan Yuchen stepped forward.
“Chairman, the Miss hasn’t taken us with her for the past two days. However, I heard that she seemed to be looking for Mr. Lu and his new wife.”
Hearing this, Mu Zhen clutched Yan Changzheng and wailed, “Chenchen must have gone to find Lu Yeyan out of heartbreak. Oh, and the driver involved in the accident wasn’t one of ours. Someone recognized him—he was Lu Yeyan’s bodyguard, but now there’s no way to prove it since he’s dead! Chenchen might have been a bit arrogant, but she must have provoked that monster. My Chenchen!”
Yan Changzheng froze, his hands clenching into fists. “Lu! Ye! Yan!”
Meanwhile, a figure hid in the shadows, seemingly holding all the strings. A contemptuous smile played on his lips as he turned to leave. His tall silhouette slowly faded away into the distance of the hospital corridor.
…
The Next Morning
Yu Zining looked at himself in the mirror. He had changed back into women’s clothing. Fortunately, the medicine Lu Yeyan used was effective; the swelling on his face had mostly subsided.
