My Possessive Boss Is Unexpectedly Needy - Chapter 2
Chapter 2: The Price of Survival
Yu Yuemin provelled at Lu Yeyan’s feet, kowtowing violently. “Mr. Lu, please have mercy! I will definitely pay the money back, but I truly don’t have it right now.”
Lu Yeyan raised an eyebrow, looking down at the man as if he were a mere toy. “Oh? Why should I believe you? What can you possibly leave behind as collateral?”
Yu Yuemin suddenly turned to look at Yu Zining. His eyes were hollow; Yu Zining could not see a single shred of emotion in them.
Desperate, Yu Yuemin lunged toward Yu Zining, grabbing him as if he were a lifesaving straw. He looked up at Lu Yeyan and blurted out, “I’ll give you my daughter. How about that?”
Yu Zining froze. His eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at Yu Yuemin. Was his father not afraid that Lu Yeyan would discover he wasn’t a girl at all, but a man?
Yu Yuemin leaned into Yu Zining’s ear and hissed, “You little brat, you better cooperate. If I go down, that old geezer paralyzed in bed won’t survive either.”
Yu Zining’s brow furrowed in pain. He was talking about his grandmother—Yu Yuemin’s own mother. She was the one who had raised him; she was the only person in that house who had ever been kind to him. She had been bedridden for three years, and if not for Zining’s constant care, she likely would have passed away long ago.
Yu Zining’s eyes reddened instantly. In that family, his grandmother was the only one who could still move his heart.
Yu Zining lowered his gaze. Knowing he had won the boy’s compliance, Yu Yuemin excitedly hauled Yu Zining up and shoved him toward Lu Yeyan’s feet.
This was the first time Yu Zining had been so close to this man. A simple glance from earlier had caused him to break into a cold sweat; being this close made his heart leap into his throat.
Lu Yeyan looked down at the figure at his feet. His long fingers suddenly gripped Yu Zining’s chin, forcing him to look up. Tears had already filled Zining’s eyes. To him, the man before him felt like he was standing atop a mountain, while Zining was as fragile as an ant.
Lu Yeyan turned his head and said coldly to Yu Yuemin, “Get out!”
Relief washed over Yu Yuemin. With a smile that looked uglier than a crying face, he nodded frantically and scrambled out of the suite.
Lu Yeyan didn’t linger. He stood up, cast a fleeting glance at Yu Zining, and said to his secretary, Shen Ziqi, “Back to the villa.”
He walked out of the suite without looking back.
Shen Ziqi helped Yu Zining up, but Zining suddenly grabbed her wrist, his eyes filled with pure terror.
Shen Ziqi’s expression remained neutral. She simply offered a small smile. “Miss Yu, you are quite lucky. Mr. Lu has never brought anyone home before.”
Lucky? He was nothing more than a bargaining chip. What would happen when they got to the villa and Lu Yeyan discovered he was a man? And what would happen to his grandmother?
Throughout the drive, Yu Zining sat beside Lu Yeyan, his fists clenched so tightly his palms were soaked with sweat.
…
Upon arriving at the villa, rows of servants were already standing at the entrance.
“Mr. Lu!” They bowed in unison as he entered.
Lu Yeyan walked inside with his usual cold demeanor.
Shen Ziqi stood by Yu Zining and called out, “Butler Gu…”
A middle-aged man stepped forward. “Miss Shen…”
Shen Ziqi glanced at Yu Zining. “This is Miss Yu. I’ll leave the rest to you.” With that, she turned and left.
Yu Zining’s body trembled. The rest? The rest of what? Why is this Butler Gu looking at me like that?
Gu Yuan summoned two maidservants. “Help Miss Yu wash up and change into clean clothes.”
Terrified, Yu Zining backed away, waving his hands frantically to signal that he didn’t need help. However, he was still led into the bathroom by the two maids.
He couldn’t afford to be exposed this quickly. He desperately pushed the two maids outside and locked the bathroom door. Leaning against the door, he clutched his racing heart and let out a sigh of relief. He looked at the red dress laid out in the bathroom; it felt incredibly eyesore.
Standing before the mirror, he looked at his reflection as if staring at a stranger. Slowly, he removed the wig and shed his clothing…
…
A long while later, Yu Zining opened the bathroom door.
When the two maids saw him, their eyes lit up. They had never seen someone so beautiful. Dressed in the red gown with long, dark hair flowing down, he looked like a celestial being—though he appeared painfully thin.
The maids led him into Lu Yeyan’s bedroom and then withdrew.
Lu Yeyan wasn’t there yet. Yu Zining sat on the edge of the bed, his mind racing. What am I going to do?
Just then, the door opened. Lu Yeyan walked in, freshly showered. His white bathrobe was hanging open at the chest, revealing firm, toned muscles.
Yu Zining’s face flushed red at the sight, and he quickly lowered his head.
As Lu Yeyan approached him step by step, Zining’s heart hammered harder against his ribs. Without a word, Lu Yeyan suddenly pinned Yu Zining down onto the bed, his serpent-like eyes staring at Zining’s flushed cheeks.
Yu Zining shut his eyes tight, his brow furrowed in fear.
Suddenly, Lu Yeyan let out a short laugh. “You didn’t really think I was going to do something to you, did you?”
Startled, Yu Zining opened his eyes.
Lu Yeyan stood up, picked up a box from the table, and tossed it to Yu Zining.
“Wear this ring tomorrow. You’re coming to the press conference with me.”
Confused, Yu Zining opened the box. Inside was a ring, the diamond sparkling like a star in the night sky.
Yu Zining stood up and gestured: Why?
Lu Yeyan seemed to be in a better mood. He replied simply, “To marry me.”
Yu Zining’s pupils dilated. Who was the man in front of him? This was Lu Yeyan! Why would he marry a woman at random? Moreover, he wasn’t even a woman!
“Remember,” Lu Yeyan’s voice turned cold again, “you have no right to negotiate with me. Otherwise, you know what will happen to that gambler father of yours.”
Lu Yeyan walked out. His final words and that chilling gaze left Yu Zining standing there in a daze. This man was terrifying. To him, Zining was just a plaything; his life or death depended on the man’s whim.
Yu Zining slumped onto the corner of the bed and exhaled. He felt a sense of grim relief—at least Lu Yeyan wasn’t interested in him “that way.” At least he had survived the night.
He looked down at the ring in his hand. He had no choice. From the moment Yu Yuemin handed him over, he had lost all rights. Since the first lie had been told, he would have to weave one lie after another to keep it going.
He had no other desires now. To live another day was a blessing.
