My Possessive Boss Is Unexpectedly Needy - Chapter 15
Chapter 15
Before Yu Zining could even stand up, Lu Yeyan burst into the room.
Zining froze. It was happening again. Looking at Lu Yeyan’s bloodshot eyes and his barely suppressed rage, Zining’s body instinctively retreated backward.
“Lu Yeyan, you… you’re back.”
Before the words could fully leave Zining’s mouth, Lu Yeyan lunged at him. A large hand clamped around Zining’s waist, and with a sharp pivot, they both tumbled onto the bed.
Lu Yeyan stared down at Zining and asked, “Were you waiting for me to come back?”
Lu Yeyan’s warm breath brushed against Zining’s skin, causing his cheeks to flush a deep crimson. Yu Zining nodded slowly.
But a flash of murderous intent suddenly flickered in Lu Yeyan’s eyes. He gripped Zining tightly, his voice turning vicious.
“Waiting for me? Or waiting to pass a message to He Yilun?”
He Yilun? What does this have to do with He Yilun? Yu Zining struggled desperately, his eyes instantly welling with tears as he looked up at Lu Yeyan.
This man—there wasn’t a trace of emotion in his eyes. Perhaps to Lu Yeyan, Yu Zining had never truly mattered.
Just as Zining’s vision began to blur, Lu Yeyan suddenly released his grip. Zining gasped for air, staring up at Lu Yeyan as the man stood by the bedside.
Lu Yeyan looked down at him, appearing like a demon from the depths of hell. “Speak. What did He Yilun tell you to look for in the study?”
Yu Zining was stunned. So this was about him going into the study.
He scrambled to sit up and tried to explain: “I… I only went to the study because I wanted to use your laptop. I was bored in the room and wanted to look up some information and check some forums. I have absolutely no relationship with He Yilun!”
“You’re still lying to me!”
Lu Yeyan delivered a sharp slap to Zining’s face. A streak of red immediately trickled from the corner of Zining’s mouth, and a searing heat spread across his cheek.
Yu Zining froze. When he met Lu Yeyan’s gaze, he saw a wave of profound disappointment. Was he disappointed in me? Why… why does my heart ache so much?
Anxious, Yu Zining pleaded, “I really didn’t. I knew He Yilun before, but he lied to me and said he was hiding from debts, so I let him stay at my place. I had no idea you two were competitors. Aside from seeing him at the wedding, I haven’t seen him since. You have to believe me!”
Seeing Zining’s frantic state, Lu Yeyan exhaled slowly. “How do you expect me to believe you?”
Yu Zining paused. He slowly rose and looked at Lu Yeyan, his fair hands gently cupping the man’s cold, stern face. He leaned in slowly and pressed a soft kiss to Lu Yeyan’s lips.
Lu Yeyan stiffened in surprise; the gesture was completely unexpected. Then, he wrapped his arms around Zining’s waist. A deep blush spread across Zining’s face…
This was the first time Yu Zining had taken the initiative. In this moment, he finally realized the truth: it wasn’t just that Lu Yeyan had imprisoned him—it was that he was becoming increasingly unable to leave Lu Yeyan.
…
Later, Lu Yeyan looked at the sleeping Zining beside him, noting the crimson mark on his cheek from the slap. He gently pulled Zining closer.
Thinking back, he realized he had been impulsive. He Yilun hadn’t exposed Zining’s identity at the wedding, but instead used this method to sow discord, making Lu Yeyan believe Zining had betrayed him. What was his end goal?
Lu Yeyan suddenly stiffened as a thought occurred to him. He rose slowly, tucked the quilt around Zining, quickly straightened his clothes, and walked out.
In the Car
Shen Ziqi looked at Lu Yeyan in surprise. He had called her the moment he left the house. Shen Ziqi, who was about to get off work, had to have the driver pick up Lu Yeyan instead. Without a word of explanation, Lu Yeyan simply said: “To the factory.”
They arrived at the garment factory where the custom designs were produced. It was a remote location that few people noticed. Shen Ziqi knew that for Lu Yeyan to come here personally, something must have gone wrong.
China was hosting a major design competition this year. The winner would secure a visa-free contract for export trade routes—essentially representing Chinese design on the world stage. Even though YIY was already a titan in China and Lu Yeyan was a legendary figure, this competition would be judged by an international panel of designers.
Therefore, every company was eyeing this prize, especially the Ou Group. To ensure the safety of their designs, Lu Yeyan had kept his designers working in secret at this inconspicuous factory.
“CEO Lu!”
Everyone stood up as Lu Yeyan entered the design studio. He ignored them and walked straight inside. “Where is Dai Lin?”
He frowned at the empty room.
A woman stepped forward. “Sister Dai Lin suddenly said there was an emergency at home and left in a hurry.”
Lu Yeyan glanced at Shen Ziqi, who understood immediately and stepped aside to call Dai Lin.
Lu Yeyan turned back to the room. “Who was on the design team with Dai Lin? Where are the drafts?”
The staff exchanged nervous glances. Finally, someone spoke: “It’s Feng Nuan. She was just here a moment ago.”
Sensing something was wrong, Lu Yeyan’s eyes turned cold. An icy aura filled the room. “Lock down the factory. No one leaves.”
A group of bodyguards instantly swarmed in, sealing off the area.
Shen Ziqi returned to Lu Yeyan’s side and whispered, “Dai Lin’s husband was in a car accident. She’s at the hospital now. She said the designs are in the second drawer of her cabinet.”
Shen Ziqi went to open the cabinet, but her brow tightened as she looked at Lu Yeyan and shook her head.
Just then, a bodyguard ran over. “We can’t find Feng Nuan…”
“Investigate,” Lu Yeyan said, turning to leave. “Until this is resolved, no one is permitted to leave!”
The staff trembled. Without the designs, they were all liable. Losing their jobs was the least of their worries—offending Lu Yeyan was far more terrifying.
…
At the Ou Group
He Yilun sat on his sofa, idly playing with a tea set. His secretary walked in.
“President He, it’s done!”
He Yilun’s hand paused briefly while pouring tea, then he slowly finished filling the cup. He took a sip and looked up at the secretary. “Anything else?”
The secretary bowed. “It’s Feng Nuan. She says that offending Lu Yeyan is no small matter and wants more money. She’ll hand over the designs once she has safely arrived abroad.”
He Yilun’s eyes darkened. “Do as she says.”
With a sharp clack, he set the teacup down heavily on the table.
