The sister next door was the definition of gentle and considerate. When she smiled, her eyes rippled like autumn waves, those peach-blossom eyes always seemed to carry a faint, lingering flirtation whenever she looked at Bai Yizhi.
While tutoring Bai Yizhi, the faint, elegant scent lingering on her crisp white shirt would drift over. Bai Yizhi’s ears would flush crimson, her eyes cast downward, not daring to look directly at her.
A slender, well-defined hand tapped the desk. “If you get it wrong again, there will be a punishment.”
Bai Yizhi adored her. With a headstrong, reckless passion, she managed to chase her down and win her over.
However, after they got together, Bai Yizhi discovered that “Sister” wasn’t as gentle as she once seemed. She filled their life with lies and grew increasingly cold by the day.
After Bai Yizhi had been emotionally and physically drained, she realized the woman’s heart was made of ice. Stroking Bai Yizhi’s head gently, she remained as beautiful as ever bright eyes and white teeth, but the words she spoke were cruel beyond measure:
“It was just for fun. Don’t take it seriously.”
In that moment, the pampered Bai Yizhi cried harder than she ever had in her life. She sobbed uncontrollably, pleading for her to stay, but the woman never looked back. The two severed ties completely.
Years later, they met again. Bai Yizhi was at the lowest point of her career.
In an attempt to find love, she went to meet an online crush. But could someone please explain why this person looked exactly like her ex?!
Bai Yizhi’s face darkened. She thought she was heading toward a romantic encounter with a beautiful boss, but instead, she had rushed headlong into a reunion with her ex-girlfriend.
The lean, beautiful woman stared at Bai Yizhi. Her expression was calm, but her eyes flickered with emotion. “Zhizhi, even though we broke up, I will still take care of you like a sister.”
Bai Yizhi remained unmoved. If she didn’t already know what a cold-hearted person Nian Zhao actually was, she might have believed her.
The gentleness and consideration were all an act. In reality, she was thin skinned and indifferent. When she was in a bad mood, those tea colored eyes looked at people as if they were dogs.
And yet, it was hard for anyone who met her not to fall for her. Even the aura of detachment she radiated keeping everyone at a thousand miles’ distance was a fatal attraction.
Fuming, Bai Yizhi snapped back: “Who the hell is your sister? Sisters don’t kiss each other.”
Bai Yizhi refused to “eat old grass” (return to an ex). After their reunion, she intended to keep her distance, but she couldn’t withstand the other woman’s persistent pursuit. Nian Zhao seemingly lived up to her word, looking after her with utmost care.
If Bai Yizhi lacked money, Nian Zhao gave it.
If Bai Yizhi was angry, Nian Zhao coaxed her.
If Bai Yizhi was hurt, Nian Zhao felt the pain.
Inevitably, this “care” eventually led them back to the bedroom.
Bai Yizhi, who had sworn never to go back, finally admitted defeat. Although she hadn’t actively done anything, she felt a sense of relief, thinking she had finally melted Nian Zhao’s frozen heart.
To her shock, Nian Zhao ran away again. Bai Yizhi had been played for a fool again.
But this time, Bai Yizhi grabbed Nian Zhao’s slender wrist and dragged her toward the bed, her voice laced with an unmistakable fury:
“Sister, try running again. I don’t mind locking you up.”
