My Ex’s White Moonlight Omega Has a Crush on Me - Chapter 1
“Let’s break up.” Chao Wan lowered her gaze, her voice soft and faint.
The living room was dimly lit, the main light deliberately turned off, leaving only a hazy, ambiguous peach-colored ambient lamp.
Inside the villa she shared with Qin Siyu, the air was thick with the scent of an unfamiliar Omega.
Qin Siyu glanced at the woman in the blue silk evening gown before her and spoke indifferently, “Weren’t you supposed to be at the awards ceremony? Why are you back at this hour?”
She held a sweet, innocent Omega girl in her arms, not even bothering to hide her affection in Chao Wan’s presence, tenderly kissing the little Omega’s nose.
Chao Wan pursed her lips, pretending to casually adjust the hem of her dress. When she spoke again, her voice carried a hint of resolve: “I said, let’s break up.”
Qin Siyu didn’t hesitate. “Fine.”
Her tone was as casual as if she were approving a routine proposal at a corporate board meeting.
Chao Wan felt a pang of self-mockery but inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief.
She was slow-witted by nature and not adept at handling such dramatic messes. If she were to truly clash with Qin Siyu, she’d likely be left speechless and defenseless.
Her high heels had rubbed her ankles raw, swollen and aching, much like her heart at that moment.
Chao Wan bent down to undo the straps, stepping barefoot onto the wool carpet. Without a trace of reluctance, she turned to leave immediately.
She had rushed back from the Golden Qiong Awards ceremony, not even having time to change out of her gown, all to surprise Qin Siyu here.
Because today was their anniversary.
Of course, after the breakup, the anniversary ceased to exist.
And with Chao Wan’s keen awareness of her own grudging nature, she would most likely cross out the “anni” and mark this day as Qin Siyu’s death anniversary instead.
As she glanced around at the familiar furnishings, a wave of melancholy washed over her.
She had only just arrived, and now she had to leave, and today, of all days, seemed to be an auspicious one. Not only had the Golden Qiong Award been snatched away by the triple-crown actress Ji Tanyue, who had swooped in like a predator, but her nearly two-year relationship had also come to an end.
Just as she was about to turn the doorknob and leave this uncomfortable place, Qin Siyu suddenly called out to her.
“Chao Wan.”
Expecting to hear an apology or something similar, Chao Wan was instead met with a cold remark.
“You were never like her.”
Like? Like who?
Chao Wan turned around in a daze, suddenly meeting the scrutinizing gaze of the female CEO.
Those eyes were looking through her, fixated on someone else, filled with longing and unrequited desire, burning like a fierce flame.
But moments later, Qin Siyu’s gaze shifted to the high heels Chao Wan had just taken off on the carpet. The fire in her eyes quickly died down, replaced by a chill.
“She would never lose her composure like this.”
Chao Wan lowered her eyes, her long lashes casting small shadows on her face.
Today was not only dramatic but also utterly ridiculous.
After nearly two years together, she had never realized that, in Qin Siyu’s eyes, she was merely a substitute for someone else.
No one responded, but Qin Siyu didn’t seem bothered. She tilted the chin of the girl in her arms, her thumb stroking it as if playing with a young bird.
The gesture was appreciative, yet tinged with ambiguity and pity.
The Omega girl’s eyes were dazed, her arms wrapped around Qin Siyu’s neck, her breath warm, looking utterly pliable and ready to be taken.
“See,” Qin Siyu said, holding the girl in her arms, her voice gentle. “Doesn’t she resemble Ji Tanyue more than you?”
Her words were soft, yet they sent a chill down one’s spine.
“…Ji Tanyue?” Chao Wan’s voice was hoarse.
The very person she had just seen at the awards ceremony.
The one who had effortlessly snatched the Golden Qiong Best Actress award from her hands as if it were child’s play.
Spotlights crisscrossed and flickered, the red velvet carpet stretching across the entire banquet hall. The air was filled with the scent of perfume and the sight of elegantly dressed guests, their laughter light and charming.
Chao Wan had just taken her seat and was leaning down to adjust her skirt when a shadow suddenly fell over her.
“Excuse me.”
A faint, bitter fragrance brushed past her senses. As she stood up to make way, Chao Wan instinctively glanced up.
The woman approaching wore a striking red mermaid gown, her tea-colored curls cascading over her shoulders. Her long lashes were lowered, and her pale, slender fingers lifted the hem of her dress with an elegant and captivating grace.
When their eyes met, Chao Wan was struck by the woman’s phoenix-like eyes, which shimmered under the shifting lights, breathtakingly beautiful.
Chao Wan had always been a bit face-blind, and as a newcomer to the industry, she struggled to distinguish the subtle differences among her so-called “peers.”
But beauty could be deceptive, and at first sight, she was utterly captivated.
Under the flashing spotlights, the cameramen continued their work, framing the woman in their viewfinders as she prepared to take her seat.
“Chao Wan?”
Unexpectedly, the woman paused, nodded slightly toward her, and extended a hand.
Her nails were perfectly rounded, her fingers long and delicate, well-maintained, enough to make one wonder how it would feel to hold them.
Chao Wan returned the nod politely. “A pleasure.”
The woman’s beauty was so overwhelming that Chao Wan dared not look too long. Her gaze quickly swept over the woman’s exquisite face as they shook hands.
The touch was cold, like icy jade pressed into her palm.
Lowering her head, Chao Wan happened to notice a string of sandalwood prayer beads hanging from the woman’s pale wrist.
They seemed out of place in the opulent setting of the awards ceremony, clashing even with the vibrant red mermaid gown. Yet, they inexplicably matched the restrained aura that surrounded her.
The woman looked down at Chao Wan, her voice distant yet gentle. “A pleasure.”
After a brief, polite handshake, they parted ways.
Returning to her seat, Chao Wan unconsciously curled her fingers.
The touch had been as cold as ice, not particularly pleasant.
Why had the woman shaken hands only with her?
Puzzled but unable to find an answer, she dismissed it as a minor, harmless incident.
Chao Wan settled into her seat, quietly waiting.
Half an hour later, the Golden Qiong Television Awards commenced as usual.
By the time the Best Actress category was announced, the ceremony was halfway through. The large screen displayed the faces of the nominated actresses.
Two newcomers were so nervous their lips had turned pale, while the two seated on either side remained calm, as if the outcome had nothing to do with them.
One was Chao Wan herself, and the other was…
Chao Wan turned her head slightly and noticed the woman was also looking in her direction, a faint smile gracing her lips.
The other woman seemed genuinely friendly, so Chao Wan nodded slightly in return, an unconscious smile forming on her own lips.
The large screen silently captured the moment.
“The winner of this year’s Golden Qiong Television Awards for Best Actress is…”
The suspense built as the esteemed veteran on stage prepared to announce the winner.
Chao Wan clenched her fingers discreetly, her heart pounding.
“Love’s Complexity, Ji Tanyue.”
Unsurprised, the woman rose gracefully, lifting the hem of her gown as she accepted congratulations from those around her and made her way toward Chao Wan’s direction.
Chao Wan forgot to applaud or offer her congratulations.
It wasn’t out of envy, Ji Tanyue was far more accomplished than her, a triple-crown actress who truly deserved the award.
But why did she have to take this particular trophy?
A wave of disappointment washed over Chao Wan, leaving her feeling dejected and unable to put her emotions into words.
She had wanted to bring the award home to show off to Qin Siyu.
On stage, the woman held the trophy, her acceptance speech gentle and humble, her smile flawless under the spotlight.
She was as radiant as the sun and moon, a height Chao Wan couldn’t reach even on tiptoe.
With elegant poise, the woman made her way back to her seat, crystal award in hand, passing by the other nominees with polite smiles until her gaze settled on Chao Wan’s face, gradually turning meaningful.
A fragrant breeze brushed past, and Chao Wan stared blankly at the woman’s retreating figure, a sudden bitterness welling up inside her.
No wonder she had only shaken her hand before the ceremony began, was it a hint that she was certain to win tonight’s Best Actress award?
This scheming, wicked woman.
…
“You’ve met her before,” Qin Siyu’s voice was flat.
Shadows concealed the fleeting mockery on Chao Wan’s face. She pressed her lips together and remained silent.
Yes, they had met. Not only that, Ji Tanyue had snatched the Golden Qiong Award for Best Actress right from her grasp, a prize she had been certain was hers.
It had been effortless, as if Ji Tanyue were merely going through the motions rather than competing.
After all, with a name as prestigious as Ji Tanyue’s, where was there room for someone like Chao Wan?
The irony was, she had once dreamed of returning with that Golden Qiong trophy, ready to surprise her lover.
Her eyes uncontrollably reddened. Chao Wan lowered her head, letting her hair obscure her vision as she subtly wiped the corner of her eye.
Not wanting to stay a second longer, she stepped around the overturned high heels on the carpet, barefoot, and turned to leave, closing the door behind her.
Would Ji Tanyue ever lose her composure like this?
But then, she was never Ji Tanyue.
Fu Xi picked Chao Wan up close to midnight.
On the outskirts of the villa area, a slender woman in a cool-toned silk dress stood alone under a streetlamp, her dark hair flowing like satin, her gaze downcast.
Fu Xi sighed softly, honked the horn, and drove closer.
The car’s headlights gradually swallowed the darkness, stopping just as the light fell upon the hem of the woman’s dress.
Chao Wan looked up at the sound, meeting Fu Xi’s eyes through the windshield, a faint smile curving her lips.
“You’re here?”
Late at night, a breeze swept by, quietly lifting the lightweight fabric of her skirt.
Revealing a pair of bare feet, red and raw from scraping against gravel and stones.
“…” Fu Xi took a deep breath.
Good grief, why did she run out barefoot?
Her pleasant evening had been interrupted by a baffling call from a friend, and her mood was already sour. But as her exasperated gaze swept over the figure by the car, she fell uncharacteristically silent.
After a moment, she spoke, “Get in.”
Under the car’s lights, Chao Wan’s eyes were swollen and red, tear stains marring her face, a picture of utter disarray.
By three in the morning, Chao Wan’s cheeks were flushed with drink. She wobbled unsteadily in the disposable slippers Fu Xi had dug up from somewhere, stumbling out of the private bar.
“Fu, remember… it was me… I was the one who dumped Qin Siyu…”
Fu Xi had also had her share of drinks but was still clear-headed. Holding Chao Wan steady, she couldn’t help but laugh.
“Did you throw your shoes in Qin Siyu’s face?”
Otherwise, why run out barefoot?
“…” Chao Wan looked bewildered.
In her earlier rage, it hadn’t occurred to her to do something like that.
“Alright, dumped is dumped. The next one will be better,” Fu Xi consoled.
Suddenly remembering something, she glanced around and sighed in frustration. “How are you getting back? Give me your agent or assistant’s number.”
“No.” Chao Wan buried her face in Fu Xi’s shoulder, her voice muffled, the scent of alcohol wafting over.
“Their phones… none of them are answering.”
She knew why, those assistants and agents who usually catered to her every whim with smiling faces were all Qin Siyu’s people.
But now that her owner had let her out of the cage, it wasn’t as if she was running a charity, why should she keep giving handouts?
“Alright, you still have me here,” Fu Xi reassured. “I’ll call you a ride. Go back and get some proper rest.”
Chao Wan gave a soft, barely audible hum in response.
Fu Xi sighed quietly and didn’t press further, focusing instead on her phone.
But it was already too late, and the private bar was too remote. Fifteen minutes passed without a single taxi being available.
The cold night wind howled, and Chao Wan yawned, drowsy and mumbling some drunken nonsense.
Exhausted, Fu Xi considered simply dragging Chao Wan back into the bar to rough it for the night.
Just then, headlights pierced through the narrow alley.
A silver-gray Land Rover slowly pulled up in front of the bar. Moments later, the window rolled down, revealing a woman in the back seat, her striking features half-hidden in the deep shadows of the night.
“Miss Fu,” she spoke, her red lips parting. “You can entrust Chao Wan to me.”
