My Dating Sim Just Got an Update - Chapter 11
“Can you let me be the one to kill him?”
The moment the words left the girl’s mouth, the punk with the mohawk whipped his head around, glaring at her with a savage intensity.
You bitch! You think you can kill me? Hah! Come on then! Let’s see who dies first—you or me snapping your neck!
The girl was an ordinary human. Scum like this only dared to act tough when facing those who were powerless to fight back.
The girl didn’t even bother responding to his taunts. She kept her eyes fixed on Ren Chenxi, waiting for a simple nod. But Ren Chenxi knew she was waiting for more than just permission.
“Go ahead. Is 20 seconds enough?”
As she spoke, Ren Chenxi pulled another Flash Card from her bag and waved it tentatively in front of the girl. However, the girl didn’t seem to see the card tucked between Ren Chenxi’s fingers at all; she merely took it as a 20-second hand gesture.
Twenty seconds is too quick for this animal! The girl replied, her voice thick with resentment.
“Hey, you don’t have to kill him in 20 seconds. Just chop off his limbs first, then you can take as long as you want to mess with him,” another girl chimed in. She was marked with a green dot and had just stepped off the bus, carrying a second large machete—likely one the “Corpse Collector” had left on board earlier.
These girls discussed dismemberment and torture with a chilling naturalness. But this was the apocalypse; any “holy mother” or “saint” who refused to kill had likely been purged by the wicked long ago.
Ren Chenxi noticed that this green-dot girl also didn’t see the Flash Card. Instead, she looked at Ren Chenxi with wide-eyed admiration. “Big sister, I didn’t even see you use a flashbang or anything. There was just a burst of light and those guys went blind. I was inside the building earlier and that light blinded me too! Are you a Light-type Evolved?”
Ren Chenxi studied the girl closely, confirming she truly couldn’t see the card, before giving a vague hum of agreement. “Not exactly. I can’t use the light indefinitely.” Once the cards are gone, that’s it.
“Then sis, is your other ability ‘Head Explosion’?! I saw it! That guy named Long had a head like solid rock, and you just made it bloom like a flower~” Sensing that the danger had passed, a second green-dot girl hopped off the bus to join the conversation.
“And the way you sniped that bald guy with stones, every hit was a bullseye~” The two green-dot girls grew increasingly excited as they spoke.
Ren Chenxi couldn’t help but feel that compared to the stoic girl with the yellow dot, these two were a bit… airheaded. They definitely weren’t from the same social circle.
Her hunch proved correct. Unlike the two chatterboxes, the yellow-dot girl had zero interest in Ren Chenxi’s powers. Her only goal was revenge against the punk. She impatiently cut off their babbling and looked at Ren Chenxi with stubborn resolve. “Then I’ll trouble you. Blind that beast for 20 seconds! I’ll handle the rest!”
Ren Chenxi didn’t know the exact details of her trauma, but in this world, the reasons were always the same: either a friend had been murdered, or she herself had been brutalized.
While the girl wanted revenge, the punk had no intention of sitting still and letting it happen. He had been behaving while he was terrified of Ren Chenxi’s power, but seeing her support the girl’s vendetta, he panicked. Before Ren Chenxi could throw a Flash Card, he lunged forward, swinging a machete he had managed to snatch off the ground.
At the same time, Ren Chenxi noticed the red dot on her mini-map moving. The girl by the bus door was charging at her from behind.
“Bitch! Die first!” the punk screamed.
“Don’t kill Brother Huang!!!” another voice cried out.
Ren Chenxi was ready. She grabbed the yellow-dot girl and yanked her back several steps. Simultaneously, she hurled a fist-sized stone with pinpoint accuracy, shattering the punk’s ankle. He was too close to use a Flash Card without blinding herself, and using an Explosion Card on a mere Level 2 Strength Evolved felt like a waste. A well-placed rock was enough to make him eat dirt.
As for the red dot behind her.
When the second green-dot girl had stepped off the bus, Ren Chenxi had already signaled the “Corpse Collector” to keep an eye on the girl by the door. The “Corpse Collector” caught the hint; before the red-dot girl could land a sneak attack, a cold machete was already pressed against her throat.
“Cai Huiyan, you are seriously sick!” the “Corpse Collector” barked.
The other two green-dot girls moved quickly to snatch a hammer from the girl’s hand. It looked like a standard tool hammer found on the bus, hardly effective against Evolved humans.
Ren Chenxi realized that, aside from the yellow-dot girl and the red-dot Cai Huiyan, the three green-dot girls were all Evolved humans. However, they hadn’t used their abilities yet. The “Corpse Collector” had even charged into the store using only a physical blade. Do they not even realize they have powers?
She didn’t get a chance to ask. The fallen punk was struggling to stand up, still clutching his machete. Ren Chenxi promptly “rewarded” him with another brick, smashing his wrist. With a scream of agony, the machete clattered to the floor.
“No! Stop hurting Brother Huang…” Seeing him in pain, Cai Huiyan didn’t dare move against the blade at her throat. She could only wail at the “Corpse Collector.” “Jian Dan, let me go, I…” She paused, realizing pleading with Jian Dan was useless, and turned her tearful eyes toward Ren Chenxi. “Big sister, please, let Brother Huang go! He… he’s actually not a bad person, he’s been so good to me…”
“Psh! He’s ‘not bad’ just because he’s nice to you? What about the girls he tortured to death?” Jian Dan—the “Corpse Collector” curled her lip in disgust, ruthlessly exposing the lie. “Cai Huiyan, you used your looks to hook up with this scum, so you just don’t care about the sisters who died at his hands anymore?”
“No. They were just my classmates, we weren’t even that close.”
“Bah! You have the nerve to say you weren’t close!” Those words snapped something in the yellow-dot girl. She lunged at Cai Huiyan and delivered a thunderous slap across her face. “What about Tao Tao? She was so good to you! When you were sick with a fever, she risked her life to find medicine for you. Do you know how she got that medicine? She let a pack of bastards degrade her just to get you those pills!!!”
Life was hard for everyone in the apocalypse, but for women, especially ordinary women, it was a nightmare. Ren Chenxi looked away, unable to bear the sight of the yellow-dot girl’s agonizing grief or the cold indifference in Cai Huiyan’s eyes. She vented her own frustration by throwing two more stones at the struggling punk, breaking his other leg.
Even though this was a game, Ren Chenxi couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of empathy for these NPCs.
The yellow-dot girl’s voice continued, cracking with tears.
“Cai Huiyan, do you have a conscience?! Tao Tao gave everything for you, but what did you do? The first time these animals wanted to ‘have their way’ with us, you pushed Tao Tao forward to save yourself!!!”
“I never asked her to do those things for me.” Cai Huiyan avoided the girl’s piercing gaze, looking guilty but defensive.
“Heh… hehe… Hahahaha!” The yellow-dot girl stared at her, her expression turning frantic and wild. “Tao Tao did so much for you, and you say you didn’t ask for it. This scum killed so many of us, yet you cling to him like a parasite and even beg for his life? Since he’s so important to you, then you can go to hell with him!!!”
That final sentence triggered a violent reaction in Cai Huiyan. Ignoring the blade at her neck, she struggled to break free and run. “No! You can’t! Huo Keyu, you can’t do this… we’ve survived together all this way. You can’t kill me…”
“Who wants to survive with a white-eyed wolf like you!!!” The yellow-dot girl—Huo Keyu—eyes bloodshot, grabbed for Jian Dan’s machete. Jian Dan let her take it.
The other two green-dot girls coordinated perfectly: one blocked the exit with her own blade, while the other gave the fleeing Cai Huiyan a shove. Cai Huiyan stumbled forward, falling directly onto the blade Huo Keyu was holding.
Squelch.
Staring blankly at the bloodied blade protruding from her stomach, Cai Huiyan turned back to look at Huo Keyu in disbelief. But Huo Keyu responded only by coldly pulling the blade out. She walked over to the collapsed Cai Huiyan, grabbed her by the hair, and began dragging her toward the supermarket.
“Don’t worry. I’ll make sure you die right next to that piece of trash inside!”
Ren Chenxi understood Huo Keyu’s intent. She glanced at the punk and, for good measure, threw a few more rocks until all his limbs were decisively shattered, leaving him for Huo Keyu to deal with. Exhaling a long, heavy breath, Ren Chenxi turned toward the bus.
Ignoring the shrill, agonizing screams beginning to echo from the supermarket, Ren Chenxi began to inspect the double-decker bus. It was massive, with sleeping berths on the upper deck, perfect for long-distance travel. She also noticed the front of the bus had been modified. The gang had somehow bolted thick steel plates to the grill. The metal was stained with dark, dried blood and bits of shriveled flesh.
If they encountered a swarm of zombies on the road, this bus could plow right through them.
As it turned out, the steel plates were indeed designed for ramming. The two green-dot girls, who had followed Ren Chenxi back to the bus, explained that the gore on the front was the result of countless road-clearing runs.
