The thing Lu Yue loathes most in her life is the CEO of the company next door—who also happens to be the ex-girlfriend who dumped her, Zhou Ran.
Lu Yue competes with her both openly and covertly, vowing never to rest until she has brought her rival down. However, things begin to take a rather unexpected turn.
During a trip to a bar, Lu Yue drinks until she is dizzy and dazed. Through a hazy blur, she seems to see the figure of her ex-girlfriend. She murmurs, complaining in a low voice:
“Do you know what I regret most about these past few years?”
Lu Yue drapes her arms around the other woman’s neck, unable to even stand steadily. The skin beneath her fingers is fine and soft, carrying a trace of warmth that she deeply yearned for.
“I regret it so much,” Lu Yue mutters, “that back then, I couldn’t bring myself to hold onto you.”
Zhou Ran lets out a soft “Mhm,” her voice cool and clear: “It’s not too late now.”
Lu Yue: “…” What?!!
She was instantly jolted sober from the shock.
“You have been gone so long, you didn’t know someone has been waiting for you all along.”
“You are my only preference; the one ‘selfish desire’ I want to declare to the world, yet am unwilling to let anyone else know.”
