Misty Nights in Hong Kong - Chapter 6
What If It Affects President Fu’s… Performance?
Fu Sinian didn’t respond. He simply stood up, grabbed his coat, and walked out.
Gu Xiangsi had no choice but to follow.
It wasn’t a long drive to the Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital, just half an hour.
She trailed behind the tall man in front of her, stepping into the private elevator that took them straight to the 36th-floor suite in the Li Shu Pui Block.
The suite was spacious and exquisitely luxurious.
Floor-to-ceiling windows offered a panoramic view of Happy Valley.
Gu Xiangsi clicked her tongue, her gaze involuntarily flicking toward his crotch again.
All this fuss just for a check-up.
That thing of his must be really precious.
Soon, a doctor in a white coat entered and greeted, “President Fu.”
Fu Sinian glanced up, his tone indifferent. “Give me a thorough examination. She’s covering all the costs.”
The doctor raised an eyebrow, his eyes darting between the two of them before nodding in understanding.
No response came.
Behind the curtain, the crisp sound of a belt buckle unfastening was unmistakable, followed by the quiet rasp of a zipper sliding down.
Gu Xiangsi froze in place, her fingers unconsciously digging into her palms.
She shouldn’t be listening.
But the suite was eerily silent, amplifying even the faintest rustle of fabric.
“Hmm, some muscle bruising, but nothing critical,” the doctor said matter-of-factly. Then he paused. “Though… President Fu, this physiological reaction of yours… Have you been under a lot of stress lately?”
Gu Xiangsi’s ears burned before she even processed the words. Then came Fu Sinian’s cold scoff.
“Are you here to examine the injury or to gawk?”
The doctor chuckled awkwardly. “Ahem, youthful vigor is a good thing, but prolonged suppression can affect blood circulation-”
“Get to the point.” Fu Sinian’s voice carried a warning.
“My recommendation is… to relieve the tension appropriately and observe if there’s any impact.” The doctor lowered his voice. “Holding it in for too long can lead to stagnant blood flow.”
“…”
The curtain was abruptly yanked aside.
Gu Xiangsi was caught off guard, her eyes locking onto Fu Sinian’s half-unbuttoned shirt, the firm lines of his abdomen, and the mocking curve of his lips.
“Manager Gu.” He fastened his belt with deliberate slowness, the metallic click echoing in the silence. “Had your fill?”
Her gaze dropped in panic, only to land squarely on his long, well-defined fingers.
“I—I’ll wait outside!” She spun around to flee.
“Stop.”
Fu Sinian’s voice was icy. “How do you plan to settle this debt?”
Gu Xiangsi cringed so hard she could’ve dug a hole with her toes. “Uh, how much does the doctor charge?”
“The fee isn’t the issue,” the doctor chimed in, clearly picking up on Fu Sinian’s intent. “It’s the potential psychological damage that needs compensation.”
Fu Sinian sat on the suite’s sofa, fingers tapping against his knee as he watched Gu Xiangsi clutch the freshly printed examination report, rooted in place.
“Go to the third floor for an ultrasound first.” He lifted his gaze, tone flat. “Take the results to Dr. Chen on the fifth floor. He’s only waiting half an hour today.”
The moment Gu Xiangsi bolted out of the suite, her phone rang, it was Assistant Li. “The doctor forgot to mention earlier. We need a semen analysis. The lab’s in the basement. The sample must be delivered within an hour.”
Clutching two slips of paper, she sprinted through the elevators. Just as she finished the basement run, her phone buzzed again.
This time, it was Fu Sinian’s call. In the background, the sound of him casually flipping through documents could be heard: “Dr. Chen said it’s best to add a chromosomal karyotype analysis. Only when the results come out can we make a comprehensive judgment. The lab is on the seventh floor, and the last sample submission today is at 4 PM.”
By the time she rushed back to the suite with a stack of reports, he was leaning against the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at the racetrack. He glanced back at her flushed cheeks and sweat-dampened temples before leisurely taking the documents from her.
“Oh, I forgot to mention. Just now, my assistant contacted Professor Zhang from the urology department. He said you’ll need an overnight erection monitoring test, which means staying for observation tonight.”
He pointed to the call button by the bed. “Let the nurse arrange it. I’ve already signed the expense sheet, you can settle it later.”
The bill listed an “expedited service fee” of 100,000 just for the three urgent tests, plus 23,000 for the suite and another 50,000 labeled as “expert consultation coordination fee,” totaling nearly 200,000.
All because she’d accidentally brushed against that part of him, and now she was being subjected to a series of seemingly necessary, high-end medical examinations.
Yet she had no choice but to comply.
By the time Gu Xiangsi had everything arranged and returned to the suite, it was already past 1:30 PM.
Her stomach let out an embarrassingly loud growl.
Fu Sinian, seated at the dining table, paused mid-scoop of his soup. Without even lifting his eyes, his gaze sharp as a hook landed on her abdomen for half a second.
“Sounds like your stomach’s about to bring the roof down.”
He set down the silver spoon, his tone flat but laced with unmistakable mockery. “If you’re hungry, come eat. Wouldn’t want you accusing me of starving you.”
Gu Xiangsi: “?”
So all the running around she’d done all morning didn’t count?
Perhaps due to lack of sleep the night before, combined with the exhausting errands she’d been sent on all afternoon, Gu Xiangsi had eaten too quickly. Now, sitting by the sofa, she propped her chin on her hand, eyelids growing heavy as she began to doze off.
Fu Sinian had just finished a phone call when he returned and saw her half-lidded eyes, her head nodding forward as if she might topple over at any moment.
His brow furrowed almost imperceptibly, a hint of derision curling at the corner of his lips, as if he found the sight somewhat ridiculous.
He stood motionless, watching her for a long while.
“Tch.” He let out a low scoff, his voice tinged with disdain. “This tired? Who’s the patient here, really?”
Despite his words, he didn’t move. Instead, he shifted slightly to block the harsh sunlight streaming in through the window.
After a few seconds, noticing her head drooping even lower, he frowned again. Reaching over, he yanked the thin blanket from the sofa not gently but draped it over her with precise accuracy.
“Sleep so soundly you wouldn’t even notice if someone carried you away.”
He tossed out the cold remark, then deliberately softened his footsteps as he turned away. Walking to the bedside table, he pressed the remote, and the curtains silently closed.
When Gu Xiangsi woke, the world outside was pitch black. The digital clock on the wall read 7:00 AM.
She stirred, only then realizing a thin blanket had been draped over her. The curtains, which had been open earlier, were now drawn, and the suite was bathed in the soft glow of warm-toned wall lamps, gentle on the eyes.
Sitting up, she rubbed her still-heavy temples. The suite was silent, save for the quiet sound of her own breathing.
Stepping out of the suite, there was still no sign of Fu Sinian.
Walking down the corridor to the rooftop garden area, a man’s voice called from behind, “Miss Gu?”
Gu Xiangsi turned around, surprised.
“Dr. Lu, you’re back in the country?”
Lu Wang walked over, his tone lifting slightly, “It really is you, Miss Gu.”
“I just returned not long ago.”
Gu Xiangsi nodded, a hint of a smile in her eyes. “So, are you working at this hospital now?”
“Just collaborating on a project here,” he replied. “And visiting a neighbor’s younger sister while I’m at it.”
Gu Xiangsi extended her hand. “Dr. Lu has finally decided to come back home.”
A fleeting emotion flashed in his eyes. “No matter how bright the moon is abroad, it can’t compare to the moonlight of home, right?”
Gu Xiangsi nodded. Back then, when she had fallen ill in an unfamiliar place, it was Lu Wang who had taken her to the hospital.
She was grateful to him, he was one of the few friends she had.
At the corner of the garden, a man on the phone glanced over, his expression darkening instantly.
The woman sitting on the stone bench beside him followed his gaze and let out a soft “Huh?” She first glanced at Fu Sinian, who had just hung up the phone, then turned to look in the other direction.
“Brother Sinian, isn’t that the lady from earlier? The man next to her is quite handsome, is he her suitor?”
Fu Sinian didn’t respond. Instead, he strode straight toward Gu Xiangsi, stopping right in front of her. His gaze swept over the man beside her, his tone icy.
“Found yourself a new target already?”
