Marry First, Love Later With The White Cat Princess - Chapter 60
As she restrained Qi Ran, Luo Binglun felt the pain in her body intensify. Not daring to prolong the fight, she pulled out a cloth bag containing catnip powder. She took some in her hand, mixed it with conjured water, and hurled the liquid orb directly at Qi Ran’s face.
Qi Ran’s painful cry was cut short as the strange tasting catnip water poured into her throat.
Spitting and cursing, Qi Ran saw Luo Binglun spreading her wings to flee. Enraged, she exerted her strength to snap the ice spikes. Ignoring her blood stained hands and body, she transformed into her demon form to give chase.
The pressure of the Great Demon suddenly vanished, and the assassins breathed a sigh of relief. They grabbed their weapons to follow, but the aggressive black leopard only ran a few steps before her body began to wobble. Moments later, she collapsed to the ground with a loud thud.
Terrified, the assassins stopped their pursuit and rushed to her aid. One assassin shook the black leopard urgently, asking, “My Lord! My Lord, have you been poisoned?”
Everyone had seen Luo Binglun’s move. With water stains still around Qi Ran’s mouth and her current state, it seemed she had indeed swallowed poison.
Qi Ran didn’t know what was happening; she only felt that the people surrounding her had turned into a circle of vegetable sponges, sponges with eyes that could talk. She hated eating those. Lashed out with her tail, she roared, “Get away from me!”
The “sponges” scrambled back. As Qi Ran stood up, the circle of sponges transformed into walking roasted pigeons, emitting an irresistible aroma. The sandy ground became a giant grill, and the pigeons danced joyfully upon it, glistening with oil.
Qi Ran snapped back to reality, realizing what kind of “poison” she had consumed. Steeling her nerves, she ordered the assassins to rest in place while she lay on the sand, closing her eyes to fully refine and neutralize the “toxin.”
The Transformation
After shaking off the assassins, Luo Binglun flapped her wings and sped toward Qishengze.
She had never imagined her body could be so compatible with a Great Demon’s inner alchemy. However, she hadn’t had time to meditate after swallowing it. Her internal condition was dire, waves of pain crashed against her consciousness. Swallowing the blood rising in her throat, she took a healing pill and pushed forward.
Following her transformation, her vision could now span dozens of miles. She spotted Liu Fenyun and Lian Yi hiding in a swamp, the very place where Yu Qingyue was supposedly trapped.
The swamp was complex. Even if Qi Ran knew the area, being dazed by catnip meant she wouldn’t catch up anytime soon.
Luo Binglun was still unaccustomed to her demon body. She struggled to control the massive azure wings on her back, rising and falling unevenly as she approached. As she drew near, the scent of the two women was so strong it nearly made her cough.
Liu Fenyun and Lian Yi had just found a safe zone when a shadow loomed overhead. Though startled, Liu Fenyun knew of the alchemy consumption, and Lian Yi recognized the scent from the previous night.
Luo Binglun was safe, but covered in wounds. Not knowing when the backlash of the alchemy would begin, the two helped her into a small vine hut.
“Can you still turn back into a human?” Liu Fenyun asked, handing her a celadon bottle.
The System began scanning Luo Binglun’s vitals. The conclusion shocked Liu Fenyun: [Host, detection shows a 100% compatibility between Luo Binglun and the alchemy. Once the fusion is complete, she will become a pure blooded demon.]
“The High Priest is being turned into a demon?!” Liu Fenyun looked at Luo Binglun in shock. “Isn’t she human?”
The System explained: [She is human, but the Qingyuan is an ancient divine bird. A human who consumes its alchemy indeed has the possibility of being transformed.]
Luo Binglun shook her head, feeling her own body. “Why do I have the illusion… that I was born to be a demon?”
Liu Fenyun thought: Has her brain been transformed too??
“If Priest Luo can’t turn back, she might not be able to be the High Priest of Zhuhuang Country anymore,” Lian Yi added mischievously.
Luo Binglun could only manage a bitter smile. She had intended to borrow the power temporarily and expel the alchemy once safe. Instead, it had fused into her flesh and meridians. Rather than discomfort, she felt her body slowly adapting, and the pain was fading.
The Search in the Swamp
While Luo Binglun healed, Liu Fenyun and Lian Yi chatted via telepathy.
“I bet Luo Binglun is in a terrible mood,” Lian Yi joked. “Someone who hated demons so much becoming a half-demon.”
Liu Fenyun didn’t tell her that Luo Binglun was becoming a pure demon. Lian Yi would probably die of laughter. Lian Yi looked at the azure wings, they were the color of a clear sky, looking soft enough to touch.
“Hey Yun,” Lian Yi whispered, “if the Priest and your Master… you know… wouldn’t it look like the blue sky desecrating a cloud?”
Liu Fenyun thought of her Master’s dominant aura. “I think it’s more like the cloud occupying the crescent moon.”
As they gossiped, Luo Binglun was refining the alchemy. Her hatred for demons was being replaced by a lingering fear, fear that she’d never be human again, and fear that Yu Qingyue wouldn’t recognize her.
Suddenly, a violent fluctuation of demonic energy erupted from the depths of the swamp. A cry for help.
The energy was familiar but faint, like a candle about to go out. Luo Binglun immediately extended her senses and found the person she longed for in a mud pit.
Yu Qingyue was submerged, pale and eyes closed, as if poisoned or under a spell. Her white wings were matted with mud. Several water serpents circled her, mockingly splashing mud on the unconscious Great Demon.
Luo Binglun was furious. She cut her meditation short and charged out.
The Reunion
Luo Binglun’s aura was uncontrolled. The pressure made Lian Yi gasp and slump into Liu Fenyun’s arms. “Control your aura! You’ll provoke other Great Demons!”
Ignoring her, Luo Binglun dived. Her demonic energy blasted a hole around Yu Qingyue, and she pulled her out, wings and all.
“Qingyue! Qingyue!” Luo Binglun cried, ignoring the filth as she conjured water to wash her.
Liu Fenyun checked Yu Qingyue’s pulse while the System scanned for toxins or seals. Yu Qingyue was covered in mud from head to toe, her pristine feathers ruined. Luo Binglun’s eyes welled with tears as she pulled the silent woman into the embrace of her own wings.
Yu Qingyue remained unresponsive. Her protective demonic energy sensed Luo Binglun, but because Luo’s aura had changed so drastically, the energy began to reject her, leaving bloody scratches on Luo Binglun’s skin.
Seeing her again, Luo Binglun realized just how much she had missed this Gyrfalcon.
