Married the Abandoned Puppy Alpha - Chapter 2
Chapter 2: Pretending to be Strangers
After all, it was just entertainment; rubber bullets hitting a person’s body doesn’t hurt, it only leaves a light gray mark.
And now, on Shi Qingze’s heart, a mark from being hit by a bullet was left conspicuously.
The boy beside him tilted his head to look and shouted toward this direction: “Who is it? You hit my brother!”
Song Xiao subconsciously looked at He Xinglou; seeing that his expression wasn’t very good, she took the initiative to respond: “Sorry, sorry! Maybe there were too many monsters just now”
The end of her sentence fluttered, appearing with a comical rising tone; she clearly recognized who that extra face belonged to, and subsequently inhaled a breath of cold air.
She began to frantically use her elbow to poke He Xinglou’s armpit.
He Xinglou didn’t make a sound.
That damn watch was still making a “beep-beep” noise; expressionlessly, he lowered his eyes and pressed down hard on the source of the sound.
But the alarm sound and his heart rate were jumping wildly together; it wouldn’t quiet down no matter what.
Why was Shi Qingze here? Hadn’t he left the Imperial Capital Star to settle down? And why would he appear together with his blind date?
A belly full of questions naturally received no answers, and He Xinglou no longer dared to look over.
He only needed one glance to recognize that it was Shi Qingze, but looking a second time made him, conversely, not quite sure.
The newcomer’s figure was tall and slender, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist; his already matured features had sharp and unrestrained contours. Even without smelling the pheromones on his body, one could conclude he was definitely a top-tier Alpha.
But the Shi Qingze in his memory was simply the polar opposite of this person.
Three years ago, Shi Qingze was still an undifferentiated child, his height even a bit shorter than his own, following behind him like a puppy, looking at him with moist eyes, both obedient and well-behaved.
Until later, when he accidentally saw Shi Qingze’s communicator and discovered that the favorites folder was entirely filled with photos of himself.
There were group photos of the two of them, and also sneakily taken photos from behind; sliding further down, there would appear close-ups of his profile, sleeping face, and… lips, back of the neck, fingers, and other parts.
He Xinglou was so scared he didn’t dare continue flipping through.
How terrifying, the child he raised was actually gay!
But thinking carefully about the setting of this world, He Xinglou forcibly compelled himself to engage in perspective-taking.
In this world, he was an Omega, and Shi Qingze hadn’t differentiated yet; if Shi Qingze differentiated into an Alpha or Beta, he indeed could pursue him, or even marry him.
But He Xinglou had been an Earthling for over twenty years; stereotypes made him unable to quite accept the setting where he had to marry a man and even give birth to the other person’s child.
Thus, he could only silently pray, hoping Shi Qingze would differentiate into an Omega so the two of them could continue to love each other.
Then two months later, the Alpha in heat directly locked the door and pinned him to the bed.
He used all his strength trying to crawl out from under the other person, but was grabbed by the ankle by the Alpha using just two fingers, and dragged back with ease.
That dead watch’s noise grew even louder; He Xinglou hurriedly cut off his thoughts.
On that end, Shi Qingze’s face was calm, with no intention of greeting He Xinglou at all, as if the two were truly meeting for the first time.
He lowered his eyes slightly, looking at that noisy-as-death watch on He Xinglou’s wrist.
“Are you afraid? The watch has been ringing.”
He Xinglou never looked at him, finding a random excuse: “No, maybe I got tired from clearing the progress just now.”
Shi Qingze nodded and stopped talking.
Song Xiao leaned close to He Xinglou’s ear: “Has he already forgotten you?”
He Xinglou turned around to steady his breathing, finally managing to lower his heart rate.
“Probably, after all, we… I didn’t spend much time with him either,” he answered in a small voice.
The two were of similar height, and now the distance was close, like their cheeks were pressed against each other.
The color of the eyes Shi Qingze looked over darkened by a few shades.
“That’s good then.” Song Xiao was still feeling lingering fear.
“Otherwise, if the old matters of back then were mentioned again, the two of you wouldn’t be able to untangle yourselves for a lifetime.”
He Xinglou gave a light laugh but didn’t answer.
What was there to be untangled? They weren’t even in the same social class; even if they happened to run into each other this time, they wouldn’t meet again afterwards.
Thinking of this, he became somewhat irritable had he known his blind date today would run into Shi Qingze, he might as well have just turned himself in to be arrested.
Only the other two newcomers failed to notice the strange atmosphere, standing hand-in-hand in front of He Xinglou.
“I told you not to come to the playroom, I’ve been most afraid of this since I was little.” Among them, the exquisite-looking Omega was incessantly complaining in a low voice.
He Xinglou snapped out of it and keenly discovered a loophole: he had only asked Song Xiao for the gender of the blind date, but hadn’t asked for the gender of the childhood friend returning to the country!
What the hell? Is this going to be a plot where the returning “White Moonlight” (first love) slaps the face of the “Cannon Fodder”?
He threw an “eye-dagger” (glare) at Song Xiao; Song Xiao awkwardly pretended to be very busy.
The other stranger Alpha indeed had quite good looks; he looked rather young, with a baby face.
The Alpha didn’t spare half a glance toward this side, still comforting: “There’s no choice, since it was agreed upon beforehand. How about I treat you to a meal later? To calm your nerves?”
The Omega then slowly revealed a smile.
The two of them acted as if no one else were around, being as intimate as if they were a married couple.
He Xinglou: “…………”
Song Xiao couldn’t stand it a bit and deliberately cleared her throat twice, but it didn’t catch the duo’s attention at all; instead, she saw them chatting even more fervently.
He Xinglou didn’t say much, picking up the rubber gun and walking forward.
The room escape staff were watching through the cameras after all; he didn’t want to become one of the actors in this farce. It was better to finish clearing the room early and part ways on good terms.
But at the moment he was about to leave, a clear and cold voice came from the very back:
“Fang Chi, aren’t you going to apologize?”
The noisy duo suddenly went quiet; He Xinglou couldn’t control himself and still stopped his steps to look back.
Shi Qingze was speaking to the young man, but his gaze remained on He Xinglou, his expression unreadable.
He spoke again: “You were late for your blind date; you should apologize to the other party.”
The young man named Fang Chi seemed to be very submissive to him, immediately nodding his head.
“An apology is necessary, Brother Qingze, you’re right. Look at me, being scared like that, I forgot everything.”
He immediately ignored the tugging of the Omega beside him and turned toward He Xinglou’s side: “I’m sorry, Mr. He”
The young man’s words stopped abruptly; after raising his eyes and seeing He Xinglou’s appearance clearly, his pupils dilated a bit.
“You are He Xinglou?” Fang Chi’s tone became light. “I… I haven’t seen your photo before.”
Of course he hadn’t seen it, because He Xinglou refused to send his photo to Song Xiao no matter what.
He Xinglou nodded politely: “Hello.”
He recalled the way Shi Qingze had addressed him just now before saying: “Mr. Fang Chi.”
After seeing his appearance clearly, Fang Chi immediately took two steps to the side, distancing himself from the Omega he was just sticking close to, then straightened his waist and elegantly extended his hand toward He Xinglou.
He looked like a decent person now, yet was increasingly doing non-human things (acting poorly).
“Meeting for the first time, Xinglou, I hope we get along pleasantly next.”
He Xinglou was almost laughed into a fit of anger.
He originally had no intention of reaching his hand out, but the opposite Omega reacted faster, standing directly between the two of them.
The Omega had a warm attitude, asking with a smile: “So you are A-Chi’s blind date?”
He Xinglou was quite happy that he approached, so as to avoid being stuck to by Fang Chi.
Therefore, he softened his tone and actively responded: “Yes, and you are?”
The Omega gave an “oh,” but didn’t introduce himself; instead, he quickly sized him up: “You…”
Before he could continue, Shi Qingze interrupted: “Fang Chi, since it’s a blind date, you should be the one to do the introduction.”
“Right, right!” Fang Chi hurriedly nodded.
“He is Shen Yuze, my childhood friend. I’ve treated him as a younger brother since I was little, so that’s why I went to pick him up at the airport today”
“Fang Chi!” Shen Yuze interrupted him, unable to bear it any longer, his eyes filled with aggrieved tears. “What exactly do you mean!”
Fang Chi didn’t dare say more, standing in place helplessly.
Just now he was gentle and considerate, but turning around, every word was meant to avoid suspicion; anyone would be unable to accept this contrast.
He Xinglou could also tell that Shen Yuze clearly held other feelings for Fang Chi, but this Fang Chi…
He looked a few more times at the Alpha’s face, thinking to himself: Sure enough, still too young, hasn’t woken up yet, needs to be beaten by society.
In any case, there was absolutely no lack of reasons to reject this blind date today.
“Let’s finish clearing the room first; having a quarrel inside here, what does that look like.” Breaking the deadlock was Shi Qingze.
Immediately afterward he walked over, pulling Fang Chi’s collar to retreat and sending him directly behind himself, leaving He Xinglou no chance to watch more gossip.
The subsequent puzzle-solving no longer required He Xinglou to worry; Shi Qingze was always the first to go over, solving them in a few quick moves.
Occasionally, there were monsters led over, but he cleared them quickly as well; they couldn’t get near anyone at all.
Fang Chi was puzzled: “Brother, you’re clearly so powerful, how come when we first came in your heart was beating so fast, and the watch kept ringing.”
Shi Qingze: “…”
Fang Chi shrunk back; he was clearly quite far from his brother, but he always felt like Shi Qingze turned back and glared at him.
“Hadn’t adjusted yet, feeling nervous in my heart,” Shi Qingze said casually.
He then handed the prop weapon he just picked up toward He Xinglou.
“Want it?” His expression couldn’t be seen clearly in the darkness.
He Xinglou originally didn’t like playing these much; now that someone was willing to carry him, he was naturally happy to be relaxed and comfortable.
So he didn’t take it: “It will be more useful if you hold it.”
That hand then retracted.
Only, he didn’t know if it was He Xinglou’s illusion, but Shi Qingze’s puzzle-solving and monster-clearing became even faster after that.
During this period, Fang Chi still hadn’t given up, wanting to come talk to He Xinglou from time to time; He Xinglou didn’t give him a shred of face, repeatedly increasing his speed to walk to the front.
Song Xiao, having good situational awareness, stood between the two, not giving Fang Chi any chance to get close at all.
As a result, He Xinglou was only focused on dodging; by the time he reacted, he was already nearly walking side-by-side with Shi Qingze.
Things suddenly became awkward.
He Xinglou was considering whether to stop his steps to increase the distance, but Shi Qingze, as if he had eyes in the back of his head, turned around.
“What’s wrong? Are you tired?” His voice was very low, both gentle and solemn.
Where was there even a half-shadow of the soft and timid boy from before.
He Xinglou steadied his mind: “No, we can go out soon, it’s just hard work for you.”
The person beside him paused his steps, turning sideways as if wanting to say something.
Xinglou’s heart immediately hung in suspense.
But before Shi Qingze could open his mouth, Fang Chi’s scream came from behind again: “Brother, brother, brother! Save me, save me!”
He didn’t know when he had led another bunch of monsters over.
Shen Yuze was still angry with him and only avoided him with a cold face; Song Xiao now despised him immensely, so she naturally wouldn’t lend a helping hand either.
At a dead end, Fang Chi had no choice but to run toward Shi Qingze’s side.
With a few gunshots, Shi Qingze lowered his hand with cold eyes, and the whole room immediately became quiet again.
Fang Chi was moved to tears, clinging to him and refusing to let go no matter what.
Shi Qingze finally showed a bit of irritation: “Go away!”
Fang Chi shook his head repeatedly: “Brother, just let me stay by your side! If something happens to me, my parents will have to come bother you.”
He spoke this way, yet his eyes glanced one by one toward He Xinglou, full of intent to be close.
Shi Qingze’s brow furrowed even tighter; without a word, he turned and marched forward, directly dragging Fang Chi along to increase the distance.
Both troubles were resolved; He Xinglou finally breathed a sigh of relief.
