Make Her Heart Flutter - Chapter 14
Jiang Ran was puzzled. She withdrew her hand, shrugged, and muttered, “Alright then. I wonder if there’s anywhere nearby selling breakfast. Sister Chi Shuang has low blood sugar, one candy definitely won’t be enough.”
Hearing this, Jiang Qi’s eyes lit up. Was it what she thought?
“Ranran, did you buy this candy?” Jiang Qi asked.
“Yep! I gave one to each of the kids, and there’s still more than half a pack left!” Jiang Ran cheerfully tossed another piece into her mouth.
Yan Xu saw Jiang Qi turn and leave, asking in confusion, “Xiao Qi?”
“I’ll be back soon!” Jiang Qi called out as she hurried out of the school gate.
Yan Xu and Tang Qiluo exchanged glances, both shaking their heads to indicate they had no idea what was going on.
Not long after, Jiang Qi returned carrying the breakfast staples, soy milk and fried dough sticks, just in time to see Chi Shuang coming out of the classroom.
Jiang Qi handed the breakfast over.
Chi Shuang: “?”
“For you.” It was still that same cold expression.
Chi Shuang smiled, looking at the clearly single-serving breakfast. “Just for me?”
Jiang Qi turned her face away. “Hurry up and eat.”
As Chi Shuang took it, she noticed a large group of people nearby teasing them. Jiang Ran pouted, “I’m hungry too! Sister Jiang only cares about Sister Chi Shuang!”
“Exactly! We’re all hungry,” Tang Qiluo chimed in, his narrow eyes filled with mischief.
Jiang Qi smiled faintly. “I heard from Ranran that Xiao Shuang has low blood sugar. Do all of you have low blood sugar too?”
Adhering to the principle that idols come before everything, Jiang Ran slapped her forehead. “Oh, right! Sister Chi, hurry up and eat. The rest of you, stop bothering Sister Chi and get inside!”
Tang Qiluo: “?”
Shang Chumu: “?”
Yan Xu: “?”
While eating breakfast, Chi Shuang made a lesson plan.
After everyone discussed and agreed, the four morning classes were arranged as follows:
The first class would be a 45-minute handicraft session led by Shang Chumu.
The second class would be a 45-minute game session led by Chi Shuang and Jiang Qi.
The last two classes would involve watching educational animated shorts suitable for children, led by Yan Xu, Jiang Ran, and Tang Qiluo.
During the final class, Chi Shuang, Jiang Qi, and Shang Chumu would prepare lunch.
Since kindergarten ended early, there would only be one hour and forty-five minutes after naptime. In the afternoon, everyone would tell stories and chat with the children.
And so, when the newly appointed teacher Shang Chumu entered the classroom carrying a pile of building blocks, she felt a sense of stage fright for the first time, despite having walked runways in front of thousands.
You can do this, you can do this! Shang Chumu cheered herself on inwardly. But when she looked up and saw all those bright, sparkling little eyes, she still felt a bit dazed.
Chi Shuang, who had been observing from outside the door, walked in helplessly and greeted the children in a gentle voice, “Hello, kids~”
“Hello~”
“Hello, pretty sister~”
The childish voices chimed in, calling out all sorts of greetings. Chi Shuang smiled and corrected them, “You should call us teachers~ You can call me Teacher Chi.”
Then, she glanced at Shang Chumu. Shang Chumu caught the hint and stammered, “My surname is Shang…”
“Hello, Teacher Chi~ Hello, Teacher Shang~”
The children below were especially enthusiastic.
Chi Shuang stayed in the classroom for a while until Shang Chumu had fully adjusted, then left.
When she returned to the teachers’ office, Chi Shuang saw the four of them, led by Jiang Qi, bent over their desks writing something.
Curious, Chi Shuang leaned in to take a look: “Lesson Plans for Human Toddlers?”
She slowly formed a question mark in her heart: “What are you all doing?”
Tang Qiluo made a pained expression: “Writing lesson plans. None of us have had children or interacted with them before. We don’t even know if we can handle these kids.”
Chi Shuang smiled: “No need to be so nervous. Actually, children are quite easy to coax. They’re already in kindergarten, and most of them have basic common sense and awareness. Besides…”
Chi Shuang carefully explained the key points for coaxing the children. After finishing, she looked at everyone’s admiring gazes and felt both helpless and amused: “What’s with all of you staring at me like that?”
“Xiao Shuang knows so much! And you’re even younger than me!” Yan Xu laughed.
“Exactly!” Jiang Ran chimed in, feeling once again that her idol was incredibly capable at everything.
“You’re not younger than her,” Jiang Qi suddenly interjected.
Jiang Ran pouted: “I was agreeing with Brother Yan Xu about her being younger than him.”
Chi Shuang pursed her lips: “Actually…”
“Ah… Haha, this drink is really good. Who brought it?” Jiang Qi raised the drink in her hand, saying something completely out of character.
She actually knew what Chi Shuang wanted to say. The reason she was so experienced in taking care of children was that she had grown up in an orphanage. When she was older, she had to look after the younger children, and even when she was little, she had to care for those younger than her.
It wasn’t a shameful experience, but Jiang Qi had received some information from Lin Wei a couple of days ago. The orphanage where Chi Shuang had stayed was not a proper or good place.
After Chi Shuang gained the ability to do so, that orphanage was reported and shut down. Inside, they discovered many signs of child abuse, and even small, stubborn stains of blood that couldn’t be cleaned.
If this were brought up on the variety show, those so-called “enthusiastic netizens” who loved stirring up trouble would definitely dig it up.
It would undoubtedly become a trending topic, as Jiang Qi could foresee. For the children who had suffered abuse in that orphanage, and for Chi Shuang herself, it would be like dragging them out to relive the pain over and over again.
Chi Shuang clearly had no idea what Jiang Qi was thinking. She said quietly, “You’re drinking my drink.”
Jiang Qi, who had just taken a big gulp to prove how much she liked the drink, nearly choked upon hearing this.
She was usually very careful, but this time, because of her concern for Chi Shuang, she had absentmindedly picked up a half-finished drink without noticing.
Still, thanks to this incident, no one pressed further about why Chi Shuang was so good with children.
A little over half an hour later, Shang Chumu staggered out of the classroom, utterly exhausted. Leaning against the doorframe, he weakly said, “Oh my god, handling over twenty kids is no job for humans. Teachers are truly amazing!”
After saying this, he gulped down a large cup of water and went to refill it.
During the fifteen-minute break, everyone listened as Shang Chumu poured out his grievances. He concluded, “I felt like I was being dragged around the classroom by over twenty huskies for thirty laps.”
It was so hilarious that everyone burst into laughter, though they also grew worried about their own upcoming teaching sessions.
Jiang Qi rubbed her temples and glanced at Chi Shuang with concern: “Can we… handle it?”
Before she could finish her sentence, Chi Shuang gave her a reassuring look.
Miraculously, Jiang Qi’s heart settled, and she silently cheered herself on.
The second period was for games, so Jiang Qi and Chi Shuang called the children outside.
The boys and girls split into two teams. The children, ever enthusiastic, shouted loudly, “Hello, Teacher Chi~”
After shouting, their grape-like eyes turned to Jiang Qi. Accustomed to addressing dozens of middle-aged people in meetings, Jiang Qi blurted out, “My surname is Jiang, call me Jiang Z… Teacher.” She awkwardly corrected herself mid-sentence.
Before she could finish the word “Zong,” she realized this wasn’t the company, she was facing a bunch of little kids.
