During their three years of marriage, Xing He treated Qing Meng with the utmost respect and courtesy—attending to every detail of her life but never touching so much as a single finger.
Qing Meng grew convinced that Xing He felt no love for her, only a sense of duty. Consequently, she chose a dignified exit. The two parted ways peacefully, intending to become strangers lost in the sea of people.
Four years after the divorce, the apocalypse arrived, and the two met once again. Finding herself trapped in a surge of overwhelming desire and barely able to endure, Qing Meng waited for Xing He to act—yet Xing He stubbornly refused to take the next step.
Qing Meng: “You… keep going!”
Xing He: (Genuinely confused) “Next… what do I do next?”
Qing Meng was both shamed and annoyed. As it turned out, she had completely misunderstood this person for all those years.
Later on, after surviving a disastrous explosion and a tide of zombies, Xing He nearly lost her life. Her body’s “zombification” had reached its final stages. She chose to vanish from Qing Meng’s world, silently guarding her from a corner where she couldn’t be seen.
Four years passed in the blink of an eye. Xing He thought Qing Meng knew nothing of her condition. To her surprise, when they met again, Qing Meng handed her a reagent specifically designed to suppress zombification.
She asked her: “Xing He, are you going to leave again without saying a word?”
