Lace Glory Universe King GL - Chapter 18
Morning at the Great Wall—everything seemed as usual.
Hua Mulan woke in the lounge, changed into a lilac gown-styled casual dress, picked up the dark red invitation on the table, and prepared to leave.
“General, if you wore that Radiance of the Nine Skies armor, you’d definitely command the whole crowd!” Sun Ce greeted her when he saw her.
“That one’s better kept as a treasure,” Hua Mulan replied.
She had once let Xiangxiang try it on. The little princess said it looked good, but it didn’t look like General Hua anymore: ‘I still prefer—the Valentine’s Day exclusive~’
At the thought, Hua Mulan’s lips quietly curved into a smile.
She signaled to the guards at the city gate. The twin wooden doors swung open, and she climbed into the mechanical carriage waiting outside.
The newly opened amusement park was no more than ten li from the Wall. On a clear day with good light, it could be seen from the Wall’s watchtowers.
It had once been Eastern Wu’s seaside battleship. After renovation, it was set upon the desert, transformed into a theme park blending maritime flair with desert scenery. Today was its grand opening ceremony. It had a new name—“Mirage Sands: The Unmoving Ark.”
Hua Mulan opened the invitation and read the single line upon it:
—Miss Sun Shangxiang, CEO of the Eastern Wu Group, cordially invites you—
Through the carriage window, the Ark loomed larger and larger, until it towered in the middle of the desert like a mountain, magnificent and imposing.
Outside the park, crowds had gathered. A giant display screen at the entrance looped the park’s promotional film.
The ceremony took place on the battleship’s deck. Under dazzling sunlight, Sun Shangxiang stepped onto the stage to greet the honored guests. From the platform, her eyes winked at Hua Mulan below.
The CEO’s beauty was impossible to look away from.
After the ribbon-cutting, Hua Mulan was escorted by attendants into a lounge. A while later, Sun Shangxiang entered.
“Phew, so busy—I only now managed to slip away. So, how is it?” Xiangxiang had changed into a long dress.
“You mean this project by the Great Wall?” Hua Mulan smiled.
Xiangxiang shook her head. “I mean—how have you been lately?”
“Not bad,” Hua Mulan said. “Didn’t expect the Empress to approve your project so quickly.”
“Half of the profits go straight into Heluo’s accounts. Of course she agreed. Besides, I needed a way to show gratitude for that battle.” Xiangxiang explained.
“The little princess is getting more and more impressive. What about Sun Quan?” Hua Mulan asked.
“Confined at the Eastwind Altar.”
It seemed all turmoil had settled properly in the end.
“Who would’ve thought, all I got in the end was just one piece of clothing,” Hua Mulan said with a mock sigh.
“Is that so?” Sun Shangxiang stepped closer, tilting her head in mild doubt.
“That annoying King of Thunder is gone, but still…”
“Then what about what you did to me before we disembarked? What was that supposed to be?” Sun Shangxiang pressed, nearly leaning against the General, her smile unbroken.
Hua Mulan lowered her gaze. The little princess before her was especially charming. She didn’t know what words would be proper, fitting—she just wanted to lean in and kiss her right there.
“That was reckless, but it was truly my heart toward you, Miss.”
The corners of Sun Shangxiang’s lips curved upward. On the tip of her heart, it felt like a thin layer of ice suddenly shattered. She had always known, but just now she hadn’t been entirely sure.
This time—it was the CEO’s serve.
She rose on tiptoe and directly brushed her lips against hers.
Hua Mulan did not hold back. She embraced her tightly at once.
It was the return kiss of the Great Wall’s sentinel—hotter than the weight of that thousand-gold heavy crossbow.
