Lace Glory Universe King GL - Chapter 1
A faint blue light flickered in the darkness, emanating from several monitors haphazardly stacked on the floor. Beyond them, the corners were swallowed by endless shadows. From the high ceiling hung an ornate chandelier, its surface thickly coated with dust.
It looked like an underground warehouse. Without windows, it felt completely disconnected from time and space.
She stared anxiously at the screens, seemingly trying to log into a system, but each attempt ended in failure. Another screen displayed a news page with the headline: “Princess of Wu Escapes Her Engagement: Inside Story.”
Suddenly, a notification popped up on the lowest monitor: Someone has entered.
She lowered her head to close the pop-up and saw three red dots moving slowly along the perimeter of the warehouse floor plan.
“They found me after all,” she said wearily, standing up, her twin tails cascading like a waterfall down her back.
She groped in the darkness for a button and then stepped aside.
A clack rang out, and the entire floor beneath her trembled. Soon, it rose like an elevator, reaching the same height as the chandelier.
The floor didn’t stop, and before her appeared an empty subway platform. On one pillar was a conspicuous poster that read: “Lovers of Time.”
The light brightened considerably, revealing her long hair, which faded from misty blue to pink at the tips—a trendy style. Beneath her open, bright yellow double-breasted coat, she wore a plaid skirt and a uniform vest, the kind young girls loved.
It was the subway exit at night. In the distance, tall buildings flickered with scattered lights, and the ground was wet from recent rain.
As the platform stabilized, a figure flashed under a traffic light about ten meters away.
“Liu Bei!” she immediately recognized him. A piece of paper spun toward her on the wind from the direction the figure had vanished.
She reached out to touch the whispering paper, but it disappeared just as quickly. Liu Bei’s voice echoed in the void, word by word:
“Shangxiang, you no longer have the right to be my fiancée. Before we become enemies, this is my final warning: Neither Wu nor I will ever spare you.”
The voice was filled with unreserved threat and malice.
A chill ran through her. She summoned her heavy crossbow, gripping it tightly—it was her constant companion, perhaps her only means of survival from now on.
Clutching the crossbow firmly, she left alone into the desolate night.
