Kidnapping the Female Teacher's Best Friend - Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Mu Hanxi was slightly surprised at first, then smiled: “It’s so cold in here, why are you sweating?” As she spoke, she took a pack of tissues from her bag and handed it to Mo Zibei.
Mo Zibei took it, tore it open, and pulled out a tissue to wipe the sweat. The tissue had a faint, very pleasant fragrance. She lightly sniffed it.
She didn’t return the remaining tissues to Mu Hanxi but kept them clutched in her hand.
“Are you waiting for someone?” she asked, knowing the answer.
“Mhm,” Someone was walking up behind them, and Mu Hanxi freed a hand to pull her closer to her side. “Waiting for your Teacher Lin.”
Mo Zibei quietly glanced at the fair fingers pulling her wrist, and her heart suddenly tensed.
Mo Zibei silently withdrew her gaze: “Are you two going to eat later?”
Mu Hanxi turned her eyes to look at her, then nodded, and smiled again, asking: “Do you have any good food recommendations?”
Just as Mo Zibei was about to speak, she glimpsed Lin Xiaoran approaching. She stopped what she was saying: “My friend is still waiting for me, I have to go first.”
Her change of topic was sudden. Mu Hanxi paused, then softly responded: “Mhm.”
Halfway to her destination, Mo Zibei ran directly into Meng Yuanhao who was coming towards her.
“Who is that girl?” Meng Yuanhao glanced towards Mu Hanxi’s direction. “How do you know her?” Although he was only watching from afar, he could still tell she had an outstanding presence.
Mo Zibei shifted her body, blocking Meng Yuanhao’s scrutinizing gaze.
She was currently 172 cm, and Meng Yuanhao was 175 cm; their height difference wasn’t much.
“Let’s go back and eat,” Mo Zibei patted Meng Yuanhao’s arm. “I’m hungry.”
“Who exactly is that girl?” Meng Yuanhao hadn’t seen clearly, but he thought she must be very pretty. “What’s her name?”
“She is not from our school.” Mo Zibei said this and walked forward.
Meng Yuanhao felt she was acting strange, clearly giving a non-answer.
He followed her, noticed the pack of tissues clutched in Mo Zibei’s hand, and sped up: “Give me two tissues, I need to go to the washroom anyway.”
Mo Zibei immediately put the tissues into her pocket: “The hot pot place has them, go get them there.”
Meng Yuanhao saw her action and widened his eyes in disbelief. Mo Zibei was never a petty person… Her behavior now was far too unusual…
Over here, Lin Xiaoran walked up to Mu Hanxi’s side and muttered a question: “Who was that person just now? She looked like Mo Zibei…”
“Yes,” Mu Hanxi handed her bag to her. “It was your little class representative.”
Lin Xiaoran glanced at the two people who had walked far away: “I find this Mo Zibei quite elusive,” she said while pulling Mu Hanxi along. “Her temperament is a bit cold and arrogant, and she doesn’t like dealing with people. But Old Luo told me that Meng Yuanhao and Zhou Ruoxin from the same grade are very close to her, and the three of them are often together.”
“Are you wondering why she gets along well with those two, but is so indifferent to everyone else?”
“Mhm.”
“If I’m not mistaken, she and those two have probably known each other since childhood.”
Lin Xiaoran nodded thoughtfully.
Though her contact with Mo Zibei wasn’t deep, based on her personal feelings, Mu Hanxi thought Mo Zibei was quite easy to get along with…
They chatted about Mo Zibei for a bit, then changed the subject.
During dinner, Meng Yuanhao secretly observed Mo Zibei a few times; she seemed perfectly normal… but her previous behavior was definitely strange.
Mo Zibei wiped her mouth with a tissue and looked at her wrist watch: “Eat quickly, we don’t have much time.”
“Let’s go, I’m full.” Meng Yuanhao wiped his mouth, pulled back his seat, and stood up.
Mo Zibei also stood up, and the two rode their bikes back to school.
Today was their short break, only half a day off; they still had to return for evening self-study.
The two focused on hurrying on the way and didn’t talk. When they parked their bikes and headed towards the teaching building, Meng Yuanhao finally asked: “How is your relationship with Qu Junzhi now?”
“It’s okay.” Mo Zibei answered casually.
As they neared her class, Mo Zibei saw Zhou Ruoxin standing by the corridor window.
“Where did you and Meng Yuanhao go?” Seeing her arrive, Zhou Ruoxin walked over and handed her the bag she was holding.
“We went to look at clothes,” Mo Zibei took the bag. “Class is about to start, you should go back to your class first.”
“Mhm.” Zhou Ruoxin nodded, looked at her one more time, and then left.
Ten seconds later, the class bell rang, but the homeroom teacher, Old Luo, hadn’t arrived yet.
As soon as Mo Zibei entered the classroom and sat down, Qu Junzhi asked: “Who was that girl waiting for you outside in the corridor?” She quietly glanced at the bag by Mo Zibei’s desk leg…
She had seen that girl carrying the bag earlier when she went out for water.
Mo Zibei placed the bag next to the desk leg: “Her name is Zhou Ruoxin.”
“Oh,” Qu Junzhi withdrew her gaze. “I see you, her, and the other boy often eat together. You must be quite close, right?”
“Mhm.”
Qu Junzhi said nothing more, and for once, picked up her math practice book and started working. She was quite bad at math and usually hated doing math homework the most.
After working for a bit, she started frowning.
The aisle was to her left, Mo Zibei was on her right, and Zhu Dong was in front.
She poked Zhu Dong in front with her pen. Zhu Dong turned around smiling, his mouth still stuffed with a snack, speaking unclearly: “Wh-… what’s up?”
“It’s nothing,” Qu Junzhi suddenly didn’t want to ask him. “You can turn back.”
“Oh.” Zhu Dong turned back somewhat disappointed.
Qu Junzhi then called High Classmate Gao Jie, Zhu Dong’s deskmate. After Gao Jie turned her head, Qu Junzhi pointed to a spot in the practice book and asked: “Can you do this problem?”
Gao Jie secretly glanced towards the doorway and whispered back: “Isn’t it more convenient to ask your deskmate? If Old Luo comes in and sees me talking with my face turned, he’ll scold me again.”
Qu Junzhi hummed, silently withdrew the booklet, and looked a little unhappy.
Mo Zibei stopped writing and glanced at her.
Sensing her observing gaze, Qu Junzhi deliberately kept a straight face and didn’t speak. After a while, she finally asked: “Did you know how to do that problem just now?”
“Which one?”
Qu Junzhi frowned: “Never mind, I don’t need you to teach me.”
Mo Zibei found her a bit inexplicable.
Du Chenxing, the deskmate to Mo Zibei’s right, briefly glanced at Qu Junzhi’s expression, rested his chin on the cap of his pen in thought, then gently nudged Mo Zibei with his elbow and whispered: “Is Qu Junzhi mad at you?”
Mo Zibei’s writing didn’t stop, and she didn’t lift her head: “I didn’t provoke her.”
Du Chenxing couldn’t figure it out either, shook his head, and continued his work.
After the first session of evening self-study, Meng Yuanhao came over. Du Chenxing politely stood up to make space for him.
“When I got back, there was a bag on my desk, with bread inside, and it was quite tasty,” Meng Yuanhao quietly glanced at the bag by Mo Zibei’s desk leg and asked, “It must be from Ruoxin, right?”
“Mhm.” Mo Zibei’s pen ran out of ink, so she replaced it with a new one.
“I just wonder if the one she gave us is the same…” Meng Yuanhao tapped the desk with his finger.
Hearing this, Mo Zibei put down her pen and placed the bag on the desk: “I haven’t opened it to look yet.”
Meng Yuanhao’s eyes followed her hand movements. After Mo Zibei took out the box and opened it, he couldn’t help but click his tongue: “Yours clearly looks tastier than mine. That girl is always playing favorites.”
Mo Zibei showed no reaction to this.
Meng Yuanhao looked at Mo Zibei’s portion, which was golden and smelled sweet, and lifted his chin: “Break off a piece for me. I want to try it.”
Mo Zibei broke off a piece for him as requested.
“I knew yours would be tastier.” Meng Yuanhao’s mouth was full, and his tone sounded slightly jealous.
Mo Zibei broke off another piece and offered it to Qu Junzhi beside her: “Want some?”
“No!” Qu Junzhi shoved her math booklet forward forcefully and stormed off in a huff.
“Oh, that girl has quite a temper,” Meng Yuanhao quickly swallowed the food in his mouth and asked, “How did you provoke her?”
“I didn’t provoke her,” Mo Zibei ate the bread in her hand in small bites, unconcerned. “Maybe she’s just in a bad mood…”
“Oh…” Meng Yuanhao finished speaking and reached out to break off another piece of bread from the box.
Seeing he liked it, Mo Zibei pushed the box closer to him.
Meng Yuanhao didn’t leave until just before the second class started, having eaten most of the bread in the box.
During the second session of evening self-study, Qu Junzhi didn’t say a word to her, and Mo Zibei didn’t mind at all.
After class, Mo Zibei walked out with the two of them.
On the way, Meng Yuanhao casually mentioned the small incident of Qu Junzhi getting mad at Mo Zibei.
Zhou Ruoxin was a little unhappy hearing this. She glanced at Mo Zibei and asked: “Is Qu Junzhi usually like that?”
Mo Zibei gently shook her head.
At the intersection where they split up, Zhou Ruoxin bit her lip, hesitated, but still rode her scooter closer and whispered: “If she has a bad temperament and is difficult to get along with, you should suggest changing deskmates to Old Luo.”
“She’s okay.” After saying this, Mo Zibei rode off in the opposite direction.
Zhou Ruoxin watched her retreating figure and frowned.
“What’s wrong?” Meng Yuanhao noticed Zhou Ruoxin’s mood was off.
“Don’t bother me,” Zhou Ruoxin then glared at him. “Annoying.”
Watching Zhou Ruoxin cycle ahead, Meng Yuanhao muttered to himself: “Are all girls like this, moody and unpredictable?” She was fine a moment ago, why the sudden change?
The first thing Mo Zibei did when she returned to her room was take out the pack of tissues from her pocket, pull open the drawer under the desk beside her bed, and place it with the candy. She looked at them closely for a while before opening her school bag to do practice problems, then took a shower, and went to sleep…
