Kidnapping the Female Teacher's Best Friend - Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Qu Junzhi noticed that Mo Zibei seemed quite happy after going out.
Mo Zibei usually showed no expression, so this change was quite obvious, and she wasn’t trying to hide it either.
Qu Junzhi wanted to know what happened to her, but was too shy to ask directly. In the end, she could only sulkily scribble on her sketchbook to relieve her frustration.
Mo Zibei stayed in her seat for five minutes, then used the excuse of going to the washroom to leave again.
Earlier, after sending Mu Hanxi back to Lin Xiaoran’s office, Mu Hanxi was afraid of delaying her studies and urged her to return to the classroom as soon as they arrived.
“Wait a moment.” Just as she was about to turn and leave, Mu Hanxi suddenly called out to stop her. Mo Zibei blinked at her.
Mu Hanxi smiled faintly at her: “Hold out your hand.”
Mo Zibei obediently held out her hand.
Mu Hanxi took a candy from her bag and placed it in her palm, her voice soft: “Jie-jie gives you candy to eat.” This kid had called her by her name directly when they first met.
Mo Zibei’s eyelids twitched upon hearing this, and a faint flush slowly crept up near her ears, but she still closed her hand tightly around the candy.
“I… I’m going back.” Her chest felt somewhat warm.
“Mhm,” Mu Hanxi coaxed her like a child, “Take the candy and study obediently.”
Mo Zibei felt her face heat up, and her walking posture became involuntarily clumsy.
After Mo Zibei left, Mu Hanxi smiled. She had heard about Mo Zibei’s personality from Lin Xiaoran, so she had intentionally teased her just now, and the reaction was surprisingly adorable.
After leaving the classroom, Mo Zibei didn’t go to the washroom but stood in the corridor. She tilted her head to look towards the English group office, her right hand rubbing the candy in her pocket, a smile on her lips… She didn’t eat the candy… She wanted to save it.
After standing in the corridor for nearly a minute, she finally went to the washroom to wash her hands and then returned to her seat.
After the eighth period, it was time to go to the cafeteria for dinner.
Mo Zibei deliberately walked past the English office door. The door was closed, and she couldn’t see anything inside, but she could hear voices talking. The sounds inside were mixed. She slowed her steps, perked up her ears, and tried hard to distinguish the voices.
She heard Mu Hanxi’s voice, though she couldn’t clearly make out the specific content, but the person seemed to be laughing.
The corner of Mo Zibei’s lips unconsciously curved into a smile as well.
Zhou Ruoxin and Meng Yuanhao were waiting for her to eat together, so she couldn’t linger and had to leave.
The cafeteria’s catering business was outsourced to an individual, so there was competition among the stalls. As a result, each one put effort into the taste of their food, so it was all quite delicious.
They went to the third floor. Mo Zibei ordered chicken with noodles, Meng Yuanhao ordered stir-fry with rice, and Zhou Ruoxin had a wrap and millet porridge.
“This week during the short break, why don’t you come to my house and play games with me?” Meng Yuanhao pushed his meal tray closer to Mo Zibei and Zhou Ruoxin. “I’m dying of boredom studying all the time.”
Their school gave a long break every two weeks. The first week only had a half-day break, which was Sunday afternoon; the rest of the weekend was spent on self-study at school.
Mo Zibei picked up a piece of braised pork from his tray: “Didn’t your auntie come back?” If Meng’s mother was home, she would manage him quite strictly.
“My mom is leaving tomorrow,” Meng Yuanhao started complaining, “She’s been watching me every day this week, not letting me stay up late, not letting me watch ball games, not letting me play games, all kinds of restrictions, it’s absolutely miserable,” He sighed heavily. “She’s finally leaving now.”
“Hmph, I hope Auntie can stay home longer,” Zhou Ruoxin put down her porridge spoon and rolled her eyes. “Without supervision, you become even more undisciplined.”
Meng Yuanhao tsked but didn’t retort. In school, he restrained himself somewhat.
“After school finishes noon the day after tomorrow, let’s walk together and go straight to your house.” Mo Zibei said to Meng Yuanhao.
“Mhm, then I’ll ask the cooking lady to prepare some delicious food in advance.”
Zhou Ruoxin frowned. Actually, she didn’t want Mo Zibei to go. Now that they were in the final year of high school, study time was very precious… but she ultimately said nothing.
After eating, they returned to the classroom. Mo Zibei started working on math problems, followed by physics and chemistry.
She had good grades in the sciences and was quite interested in them, so she dedicated most of her study time to these subjects.
After the second session of evening self-study, she started packing her school bag to go home. Before leaving, she glanced at her English textbook lying in the corner. For some reason, Mu Hanxi’s figure suddenly flashed across her mind.
After a brief pause, she stood up and left.
After returning home that night, she did problems at her desk for a while. The candy Mu Hanxi gave her was placed beside her test papers. She would occasionally look at it twice, then get distracted, then refocus and continue solving problems.
After being distracted again, Mo’s father knocked on her door.
Mo Zibei put the candy into her pocket and answered.
Mo’s father pushed the door open: “Drink a cup of milk, take a shower later, and go to bed early.”
“Got it.” Mo Zibei drank the milk in front of her father.
After she finished, Mo’s father left with the empty cup.
When Mo Zibei was little, she wasn’t strong. Mo’s father tried every way to supplement her diet and had her exercise, and only later did she gradually become healthier.
After showering and drying her hair, it was already past eleven.
Mo Zibei placed the candy next to her pillow and slowly closed her eyes.
On Saturday, Mo Zibei still woke up early; today she had to go to school for self-study.
Compared to weekdays, the self-study classes on Saturday and Sunday were more relaxed. At this time, apart from the homeroom teacher, other subject teachers rarely came over.
After the first self-study session, someone from another class in the B section came to visit.
It was a boy. He came looking for Yan Xiaoshuai, but ended up talking to Qu Junzhi, just as he had done several times before.
Qu Junzhi was indeed popular. Not only did the boys in her own class like to chat with her, but boys from other classes often came to see her during the breaks.
Less than a minute after the boy sat down, Yan Xiaoshuai followed.
“We’re going to play basketball on the court at noon,” the boy said, sitting in the seat in front of Qu Junzhi. “Do you want to come and watch?”
“No.” Qu Junzhi didn’t particularly like this boy; his smile was frivolous.
“I’m very good at basketball.”
“I don’t want to go.” Qu Junzhi frowned.
After Yan Xiaoshuai arrived, Mo Zibei stood up.
“Where are you going?” Qu Junzhi suddenly looked up and asked her.
Mo Zibei turned her gaze to her and then said: “To the washroom.”
“I’ll go with you.” Qu Junzhi stood up.
Mo Zibei’s expression was slightly surprised.
The two entered the women’s washroom one after the other. There were people inside, so they had to wait in line.
When it was Mo Zibei’s turn, she went straight in.
But Qu Junzhi came out of the washroom before her and waited for her by the door.
“Do you have something to say?” Mo Zibei asked her.
“Mhm.”
“Let’s talk by the railing over there.” Mo Zibei pointed a finger.
Qu Junzhi nodded and walked toward it first.
“Next time Song Tianhu comes to look for me, you’re not allowed to leave.” As soon as Mo Zibei walked up to her, Qu Junzhi got straight to the point.
Mo Zibei was startled for a moment, then asked: “That tall guy is named Song Tianhu?”
Qu Junzhi originally thought this person would be as unresponsive as usual, so she hadn’t expected such a question.
The corner of Qu Junzhi’s mouth curved into a smile, and her voice softened compared to before: “So, are you willing to do me this favor?” As if worried she wouldn’t agree, Qu Junzhi explained a couple of sentences, “I don’t really like him. He keeps bothering me, and as soon as you leave, he sits in your seat.”
“Oh, sure.” Mo Zibei agreed.
Qu Junzhi tried hard to hide her excitement, whispering: “Then let’s go. Class is about to start.”
Mo Zibei nodded.
During the second self-study period, Qu Junzhi secretly handed Mo Zibei a round piece of chocolate.
“Taste it, it’s especially delicious.” Qu Junzhi used lip movements to say this.
Mo Zibei looked up at Old Luo at the podium, quietly peeled open the wrapper, and ate it.
Her left cheek bulged into a small mound, and Qu Junzhi watched, her eyes filled with a smile. She suddenly thought Mo Zibei looked quite cute this way, not cold or dull at all.
The next day at noon, Mo Zibei and Meng Yuanhao rode their bikes back to Meng’s house. Zhou Ruoxin was picked up by her father.
Midway through the ride, Mo Zibei inadvertently saw a girl wearing a plaid shirt. In an instant, the image of Mu Hanxi wearing the denim shirt abruptly flashed uncontrollably in her mind…
Mo Zibei suddenly squeezed the brakes, planted her foot on the ground, and stopped.
“What’s wrong?” Seeing she hadn’t followed, Meng Yuanhao looked back at her.
“I want to buy clothes,” Mo Zibei met Meng Yuanhao’s gaze. “A lightweight denim shirt.”
“Huh?” Meng Yuanhao was confused.
“Let’s go check out a clothing store first.” Mo Zibei finished speaking and turned her bike around on her own.
Meng Yuanhao followed her, completely bewildered.
They visited the core area and several surrounding malls, but Mo Zibei couldn’t find any clothes that caught her eye.
“What exactly are you looking for?” Meng Yuanhao was slightly out of breath. “I thought the clothes at a few stores looked quite suitable for you.”
Mo Zibei’s speed in choosing clothes was very fast. She would enter a store, glance around a few times, and if she didn’t like anything, she would immediately leave, quick and decisive. The store assistants didn’t even have time to introduce things to her.
“I don’t like any of them. Let’s go back.” Mo Zibei looked dejected.
“Let’s eat before we go. I’m starving…” Meng Yuanhao pleaded pitifully. He hadn’t had a single drop of water since noon.
“Mhm.”
The two took the elevator to the third floor, which was entirely dedicated to food.
They chose a hot pot restaurant and sat at a window seat on the outer side.
Meng Yuanhao was dizzy with hunger, and his attention was entirely focused on ordering.
Mo Zibei rested her right cheek on her hand, looking out the window.
Suddenly, a familiar figure appeared in her line of sight. She blinked hard, confirming it was indeed Mu Hanxi.
Her hand subconsciously gripped her knee, her breathing quickened, and her eyes were fixed on that spot, unwavering.
Meng Yuanhao asked her if there was anything special she wanted to eat. She didn’t respond. Meng Yuanhao looked up in confusion: “What’s wrong?” He followed her gaze outside. “What are you looking at?”
Mo Zibei suddenly stood up, dropping a sentence: “You order for yourself and eat first. I’ll be back in a moment.”
Mo Zibei’s eyesight was excellent. She had not only seen Mu Hanxi across the way but also Lin Xiaoran beside her.
She noticed Lin Xiaoran handing her bag to Mu Hanxi, looking like she was heading to the washroom, which was why Mo Zibei had gotten up.
She moved quickly, practically running.
As she got close to Mu Hanxi, she slowed her pace, and even stopped.
Mo Zibei didn’t move forward again, stopping about two meters away from Mu Hanxi, who had her back to her… Today, she was wearing a pure white fitted dress with a belt, a pair of purple heart-shaped earrings, and light blue high heels. Her brown hair fell naturally… a beauty different from yesterday, but still captivating…
Mo Zibei swallowed. Her heart was beating rapidly now… She clenched and unclenched her fist, and finally gathered the courage to walk over.
She walked very lightly, as if stepping in sync with her own heartbeat.
Stopping half a step away from her, Mo Zibei pursed her lips and carefully stretched out a finger to poke Mu Hanxi’s shoulder.
Mu Hanxi turned around, and their eyes met…
