Kidnapping the Female Teacher's Best Friend - Chapter 29
Chapter 29
Mu Hanxi had been drinking, and her cheeks were flushed and hot. The burning warmth radiated through the thin clothing to Mo Zibei.
Mo Zibei felt that Mu Hanxi’s hot, red cheek was like a fuse, touching her back and igniting the blood vessels inside her…
She licked her lower lip, gripping the handlebars tightly, struggling to suppress the heat inside her body.
“I’ve never cycled to school my entire life,” Mu Hanxi murmured softly and gently, eyes closed against her back. “There are many schools around my house—kindergarten, primary school, middle school—all very close, just a few minutes’ walk.”
“Can you ride a bike then?” Mo Zibei gradually calmed the internal heat under the gentle, flowing tone of Mu Hanxi’s voice.
“Yes,” Mu Hanxi whispered quietly, “but I’m not very good at it.”
Mo Zibei secretly pursed her lips and smiled.
“I’ve never ridden with anyone before. I’m afraid of making them fall.”
“Me neither,” Mo Zibei emphasized. “You are the first person I’ve ever carried.” She had never liked intimate physical contact with others since she was young, so she never carried people on her bike. This was an exception.
“Oh?”
“Seriously.”
“Mhm.” Mu Hanxi subconsciously rubbed her lower abdomen with her right palm.
Mo Zibei’s heart jumped. She bit her lower lip hard, straining to keep the bike balanced.
“Kid,” Mu Hanxi’s voice was soft and low, “have you been studying English diligently lately?”
“Yes,” Mo Zibei paused for two seconds. “Teacher Lin even praised me earlier.”
“Praised you for what?”
Mo Zibei’s face blushed slightly: “It was nothing, just that I’ve been focusing more on English recently, and she felt pleased.”
“When you pass your English exam, I’ll get you a gift.” When they chatted previously, Mo Zibei had frowned and quietly mumbled that she had never passed English.
“Sister Mu, are you serious?” Mo Zibei’s heart seized up with excitement, nearly causing her to squeeze the brakes.
Mu Hanxi affirmed with a soft sound.
The little deer in Mo Zibei’s heart began to beat excitedly again. She secretly vowed to study even harder from now on.
The bike moved slowly. The person behind her gradually fell silent. An occasional breeze swept by, stirring up soft emotions in the young girl.
“We’re here, Sister Mu.” Mo Zibei gripped the handlebars, her feet braced on the ground.
Mu Hanxi was still leaning against her, unmoving. Mo Zibei didn’t rush her, waiting patiently. After a long moment, Mu Hanxi shifted and got off the bike.
“Your back… is very comfortable.” Her voice was slightly hoarse and low.
Mo Zibei was bending down to lock the bike when she suddenly heard this.
Her heart felt like it had been lightly plucked by a feather, tingling and numb.
Suppressing her restless heart, Mo Zibei locked the bike, straightened up, put on her backpack, and slowly turned to face Mu Hanxi.
The moonlight was bright and soft tonight, making Mu Hanxi’s fair, flushed cheeks look particularly beautiful.
Perhaps the aftereffects of the red wine were strong. Mu Hanxi’s eyes were now glazed over. She took a small step forward, tilted her head down, and pressed her forehead against Mo Zibei’s chest, like a kitten, murmuring softly: “Dizzy.” Ruan Xuekai had poured her many glasses of wine today. Given that her second sister and Brother Jiazhe were present, she felt awkward refusing and drank it all.
Mo Zibei was completely stunned, her body stiff. She stood frozen, unable to react for a long time.
“Dizzy.”
Mo Zibei let out a soft breath, laboriously raised a hand, placed it on Mu Hanxi’s back, swallowed her saliva, and then used her other hand to cup Mu Hanxi’s cheek. Under the moonlight, she tilted her head to look: Mu Hanxi’s eyes were lowered, her cheeks were flushed, and her red lips were slightly parted…
That single look made Mo Zibei’s legs feel weak.
She took Mu Hanxi’s small bag, half-supported her, and carefully guided her forward in a slow embrace, occasionally whispering “Sister Mu” softly along the way.
Mu Hanxi sometimes responded, sometimes didn’t. She just felt her eyelids heavy and wanted to sleep.
In the elevator, Mu Hanxi remained leaning against her with her eyes closed. When the elevator doors opened, Mo Zibei carefully and slowly moved out while holding her.
Sensing Mu Hanxi’s drowsiness, Mo Zibei didn’t have the heart to wake her again. At the apartment door, she retrieved the key from Mu Hanxi’s small bag and unlocked the door herself.
She was opening the door while holding Mu Hanxi.
She opened the door, turned on the light, changed their shoes, carried Mu Hanxi to sit leaning against the sofa, put the backpacks and small bag aside, and turned on the air conditioner. After this entire sequence of actions, Mo Zibei’s undershirt was soaked with sweat.
She went to the entrance again, fetched a pair of slippers for Mu Hanxi, and then knelt in front of the coffee table, patiently and thoughtfully helping her take off the bright white sneakers. Seeing the small pink socks she was wearing, Mo Zibei secretly smiled: She really does like pink.
She suddenly remembered the first time she came to Mu Hanxi’s place to eat seafood congee. It was raining that night, and Mu Hanxi stood outside the complex gate and gave her a pink umbrella. Mo Zibei looked up at Mu Hanxi again. Her face was flushed, and her quietly closed eyes made her look very obedient and gentle, which made a lot of pink bubbles pop up in Mo Zibei’s heart.
After a moment, Mo Zibei also took off Mu Hanxi’s small pink socks, but didn’t rush to put on the slippers, instead lowering her head to privately admire her fair, small feet.
Her two small feet were as adorable as little bunnies, with delicate ankles and round, smooth toes that glowed a healthy pink. They were beautiful.
Mo Zibei tried to resist but couldn’t help reaching out and gently touching the top of her foot: a soft, smooth sensation.
Her ears felt hot from the touch, and she felt so shy… Finally, she gathered her thoughts and began to seriously put the slippers on Mu Hanxi.
After changing her shoes, Mo Zibei stood up, pulled out her phone, and called home. She briefly explained the situation, primarily that Mu Hanxi was drunk, and she was worried and wanted to stay to take care of her.
Mo Father only gave a couple of reminders and didn’t say much else.
Mo Zibei went to the bathroom. She wanted to fetch some hot water for Mu Hanxi to soak her feet. When she returned with the water, she saw Mu Hanxi still sitting quietly and resting her eyes on the sofa, though her body had slightly slumped. Mo Zibei found a cushion and placed it behind Mu Hanxi’s lower back so she could lean more comfortably.
The water was warm but not scalding. Mo Zibei knelt down again, gently removed Mu Hanxi’s slippers, and slowly placed her two fair little feet into the water.
Upon touching the water, Mu Hanxi instinctively flinched and let out a soft whimper, but quickly relaxed again.
Mo Zibei looked up at her reaction, a slight smile on her lips.
She stirred the water with her hand, then gently stroked the tops of Mu Hanxi’s feet with her palm, and mischievously scratched the soles of her feet twice. Mu Hanxi winced and let out two soft moans.
Mo Zibei stifled a laugh.
After thoroughly and carefully washing her feet, Mo Zibei used a tissue to wipe them dry.
She couldn’t let Mu Hanxi stay on the sofa; she needed to carry her back to the bedroom. Mo Zibei estimated that Mu Hanxi weighed around 90 pounds. She felt strong enough and believed she could carry her.
She draped Mu Hanxi’s arm over her neck and whispered, “Sister Mu, hold on tight to me.”
Whether Mu Hanxi heard her or it was an instinctive reaction, she eventually hooked her arms around Mo Zibei’s neck, though the grip was light.
Mo Zibei held her breath, used her arms to lift her up forcefully, finding it easier than expected. However, she didn’t dare to be careless, afraid of dropping the person in her arms.
She carefully carried her into the bedroom, helped her lie down, and then went to the bathroom.
She was now in a dilemma. Sleeping in outside clothes would definitely be uncomfortable, but if she changed Mu Hanxi into pajamas herself, would Mu Hanxi mind when she woke up?
She filled a basin with hot water, grabbed a clean towel, and then returned to the bedroom.
“Sister Mu?” She leaned close to Mu Hanxi’s ear. “Do you want me to help you change into pajamas?”
Mu Hanxi shifted slightly but didn’t speak, her breathing shallow, as if she were asleep.
Mo Zibei wrestled with the decision for a while, still too hesitant to take action. What if Sister Mu was displeased by her doing that…
She dampened the towel with hot water and used it to wipe Mu Hanxi’s face, neck, arms, and lower legs. She didn’t dare touch any other areas.
The air conditioning was on at 26∘C. Fearing Mu Hanxi might get cold at night, Mo Zibei covered her with a thin blanket.
She sat by the bed for a while, then suddenly remembered that Mo Father often got thirsty when drunk. She hurried to the kitchen, grabbed a cup, and filled it with warm water from the water dispenser.
She half-lifted and held Mu Hanxi in her arms, gently coaxing: “Sister Mu, drink some water.”
Mu Hanxi was initially unresponsive, but after Mo Zibei’s persistent calling, she groggily lowered her head and drank a few sips.
Mo Zibei was relieved and carefully helped her lie back down.
It was getting late, and she needed to wash up herself. Mo Zibei went to the bathroom. She didn’t look for a spare toothbrush; instead, she used her finger, dabbed on some toothpaste, and brushed her teeth that way. She used Mu Hanxi’s facial cleanser, which she had used before, to wash her face.
After tidying herself up, she remembered she hadn’t finished her homework. She took her backpack and went back to Mu Hanxi’s bedroom, where she thoughtfully found an eye mask and placed it on Mu Hanxi.
The room was quiet, the light was soft, and the atmosphere was cozy. She took out her test papers and began working on the problems.
While diligently writing, Mo Zibei didn’t forget to keep an eye on the person beside her. Seeing that Mu Hanxi showed no sign of waking up, she felt reassured and continued her homework.
A little later, Mo Zibei heard Mu Hanxi’s phone ringing in her bag.
She got up, pulled out the phone, and checked the screen. It showed “Second Sister.”
Hesitating for two seconds, Mo Zibei pushed the door open, went to the living room, and swiped to answer the call.
Before she could speak, the voice on the other end spoke: “Not asleep yet?”
“Sister Xuanya, it’s Mo Zibei.”
The voice on the other end asked in surprise: “It’s so late, why are you still there?”
“Sister Mu is drunk. I was worried and didn’t dare to leave.”
“Xiao Xi is drunk?” Mu Xuanya recalled carefully. Hanxi had indeed drunk a lot of wine today. “I’ll come over right away.”
Mo Zibei picked at the sofa cushion, lowering her head and whispering: “Sister Xuanya, you don’t need to worry too much. I won’t leave tonight. I’ll stay and look after her.”
Mu Xuanya was still somewhat concerned that a child might not have enough experience caring for someone.
“Sister Mu is already asleep now.”
Mu Xuanya pondered for a few seconds, then relented: “In that case, thank you for your trouble, Xiaobei. Please contact me immediately if anything happens.”
After hanging up, Mo Zibei noticed that a person named Ruan Xuekai had sent Mu Hanxi many WeChat messages.
She didn’t look closely and returned to the bedroom to put the phone back in Mu Hanxi’s bag.
She then used her own phone to search for information on caring for someone who is drunk. The information mentioned that drunk people often get headaches the next day, and it’s best to feed them sobering soup or lemon water on the day they drink, or help by massaging their temples and forehead, which can also help alleviate the symptoms.
At this late hour, the supermarket was surely closed, and Mo Zibei couldn’t make sobering soup or lemon water. Only the massage method remained.
She went to the bathroom to wash her hands thoroughly, then returned to Mu Hanxi’s bed.
She concentrated on Mu Hanxi’s peaceful sleeping face for a while, chuckled softly, and then gently helped massage her temples and forehead.
Apart from Mu Hanxi moving slightly at the very beginning, she allowed Mo Zibei to massage her the entire time, looking very compliant.
After massaging for over half an hour, Mo Zibei stopped her hands. Finally, she gently caressed Mu Hanxi’s cheek with her fingertip: “You are so well-behaved.”
It was past midnight, and she was also tired. She decided the remaining homework could wait until the morning and that she should go to sleep first.
“Good night, Sister Mu.” Mo Zibei tucked Mu Hanxi’s arms under the thin blanket and turned off the light for her.
After setting her alarm, Mo Zibei found a small throw blanket and went to the sofa. However, she slept restlessly, waking up several times during the night. Each time she woke up, she checked on Mu Hanxi in the bedroom. Seeing that she was still sleeping soundly, she felt relieved and went back to sleep.
However, before Mo Zibei left Mu Hanxi’s bedroom each time, she would kneel down, lightly stroke her forehead, lean in, and whisper: “Sleep well. Sweet dreams.”
That night, Mu Hanxi truly slept deeply and peacefully, just as Mo Zibei had wished.
