Kidnapping the Female Teacher's Best Friend - Chapter 26
Chapter 26
When the car was close to the school gate, Zhou Ruoxin tapped Mo Zibei’s shoulder: “We’re almost there.”
Mo Zibei first hummed, then opened her eyes.
Zhou Ruoxin withdrew her hand, initially not planning to say anything else, but seeing Mo Zibei’s listless appearance, she couldn’t help but ask at the last minute: “Are you very tired?”
Mo Zibei nodded slightly.
“Class doesn’t start for a while. You can rest your head on your desk when you get back to the classroom.”
“I know.”
The three got out of the car. Zhou Father gave them a couple of reminders, then drove away.
Meng Yuanhao had seen the two girls interacting in the car. He went over with a grin, nudged Zhou Ruoxin with his elbow, and cheerfully asked, “Are you not mad at Zibei anymore?”
Zhou Ruoxin frowned, raised her hand, and punched his arm, snapping impatiently, “Can you shut up?!”
“Ouch, hitting me again!” Meng Yuanhao rubbed the spot where he was punched, grumbling hatefully with a smirk, “When can you be gentle like that older sister!”
It was fine until he brought that up. As soon as he said it, Zhou Ruoxin suddenly looked like a wild cat whose tail had been stepped on, yelling coldly, “Which sister are you talking about?!”
“The one who took Zibei away the other day…” Seeing her fierce expression, Meng Yuanhao’s bravado instantly weakened, and he finally stammered, “That… gentle… Sister Mu…”
“Meng Yuanhao, you are dead!!!” After saying those words, she started wildly punching and scratching Meng Yuanhao. Since she was a girl, Meng Yuanhao couldn’t fight back and could only dodge and howl.
Seeing that she was genuinely furious, Meng Yuanhao had no choice but to shout loudly, appealing to Mo Zibei next to them: “Zibei, Zibei, quick, stop her! Save me! Zhou Ruoxin is crazy today!!! She’s crazy!!!”
Mo Zibei hesitated for a moment, then reached out and grabbed one of Zhou Ruoxin’s arms. Seeing her try to move again, Mo Zibei instinctively pulled her forward. Zhou Ruoxin stumbled, almost falling, but Mo Zibei managed to catch her in time.
Mo Zibei put her arm around Zhou Ruoxin’s shoulder and slowly helped her stand steady…
Following Mo Zibei’s action, Zhou Ruoxin’s face flushed red at a visible speed…
This bizarre change stunned Meng Yuanhao next to them: Holy cow, Ruoxin can actually blush!!! This is unbelievable!!! Who would have thought I’d live to see her blush!!!
“Are you okay?” Mo Zibei slowly withdrew her hand.
“Mhm.” Zhou Ruoxin slightly lowered her head, hooked her fingers, and pulled a strand of hair forward to cover the redness on her cheek.
Seeing her action, Meng Yuanhao was even more astonished: Unbelievable!!! She even knows how to make such a feminine hair-tucking gesture!!!
Mo Zibei was initially a little sleepy, but the commotion stirred up by the two of them chased away all the drowsiness in her head.
Meng Yuanhao leaned over and patted Mo Zibei’s shoulder, wanting to tell her that he had just seen Zhou Ruoxin blush. Meeting Zhou Ruoxin’s dagger-like glare flying across the distance, he wisely shut up. He was quite afraid that Zhou Ruoxin would punch him again…
During the seventh period in the afternoon, after the English class, Lin Xiaoran called Mo Zibei to the office to help carry the English test papers back to the classroom.
The two walked side by side. Lin Xiaoran glanced at her: “What happened to you? You look like a mess.” Lin Xiaoran had noticed the injuries on Mo Zibei’s face earlier in the morning but hadn’t found a suitable moment to ask.
Like a mess… This terrible description reminded Mo Zibei of what Qu Junzhi had said earlier. She frowned, asking back with some frustration: “Do I look very ugly right now?”
Lin Xiaoran initially wanted to find out the cause of her injury, but Mo Zibei’s counter-question derailed her.
She tilted her head and seriously scrutinized Mo Zibei, who was frowning and whose cheeks were bruised and swollen, and nodded honestly: “You really are quite unsightly…”
Mo Zibei’s frown deepened upon hearing this. Oh no, I’m going to see Mu Hanxi tonight… Oh, compared to now, she might have looked even uglier yesterday. Right after the fight, her mouth was still bleeding…
The more she thought about it, the more annoyed she became. Finally, she drooped her head, hunched her back, and dejectedly trailed behind Lin Xiaoran…
A teacher in the office who also knew Mo Zibei looked up, saw her demeanor, and nodded toward Lin Xiaoran, asking curiously, “What mistake did she make?” Mo Zibei was walking as if her bones had dissolved…
Lin Xiaoran was puzzled, not quite understanding what the teacher meant. Following the teacher’s gaze, she saw the girl behind her looking completely deflated…
Lin Xiaoran found it somewhat amusing. The little one was usually so cold and arrogant. Who would have thought she cared so much about her appearance?
She calmly poured herself a cup of water, sat on the office chair, and leisurely sipped her tea, narrowing her eyes to appreciate Mo Zibei’s defeated, frustrated look for a moment. Finally, she offered words of comfort: “What’s wrong? Your injuries will heal in a few days. You’re not disfigured, and you won’t have scars.”
“How many days will it take to heal?”
“Are you that concerned?” Lin Xiaoran slightly raised an eyebrow, thinking, Could she have someone she likes… She kindly reminded her: “Don’t forget, our school has a clear rule against puppy love.”
“Oh.” Mo Zibei picked up the test papers and gave her a faint look, implying, You’re overthinking it.
Mo Zibei carried the papers back to the class, distributed them, and then returned to her seat to focus on doing the exercises. She didn’t think about whether she was good-looking or not anymore—mainly because thinking wouldn’t help; she wasn’t a magician.
However, after the second session of evening study hall, a certain person still made a trip to the bathroom, specifically washed her face, and didn’t dry it with tissue. When she came out, water droplets were still hanging on her face…
“I’m going straight with Sister Mu later,” Mo Zibei went to the third floor to meet the two of them. “She’s coming to the school gate to pick me up.”
Meng Yuanhao nodded, attempting to pull Zhou Ruoxin away, but she didn’t budge.
“Where does that sister live?”
Mo Zibei looked at Zhou Ruoxin’s demeanor and felt like she might be upset again…
“She lives in the apartment complex right next to yours.”
Zhou Ruoxin was slightly stunned, seemingly not having expected their homes to be so close.
She suddenly remembered the last time Mo Zibei went to deliver dumplings to a sister who was tutoring her. Today in the car, Mo Zibei said the woman who applied the medicine was the same sister who tutored her in English. So, the person who received the dumplings and the one who tutored her were actually the same person?
Now, there was the added dimension of applying medicine. Wouldn’t their relationship be even more intimate… The more Zhou Ruoxin thought about it, the greater her sense of crisis grew, and her face instantly darkened…
“Ask that sister if it would be convenient to take Meng Yuanhao and me home too…”
Mo Zibei was truly surprised. She genuinely hadn’t expected Zhou Ruoxin to make such a request. She looked troubled and hesitated: “Then I’ll call Sister Mu… and ask.”
Meng Yuanhao was also surprised and confused to hear Zhou Ruoxin say this. He lightly tugged Zhou Ruoxin’s sleeve next to him: “Let’s just ride our bikes home. It’s not good to trouble her, and we don’t know her well.”
Zhou Ruoxin glared at him: “Shut up.”
Mo Zibei called Mu Hanxi, and the phone was answered quickly.
“Sister Mu…” Mo Zibei unconsciously licked her lips. “Are you off work yet?”
“Mhm, I just left the company and am about to drive over to pick you up.”
“Hmm…” Mo Zibei scratched the back of her head, feeling a little shy. “Could you…”
“What’s wrong?”
“I have two partners with me…”
Before she finished speaking, Mu Hanxi understood her meaning: “If they are willing to ride with me, tell them to wait at the school gate with you. I’ll be there soon.”
“Understood, Sister Mu.” Mo Zibei’s voice involuntarily softened on the last “Sister Mu.”
Zhou Ruoxin had been observing Mo Zibei talking on the phone. She watched every small gesture: licking her lips, scratching the back of her head, the soft tone, and her now relaxed eyebrows.
“Sister Mu said to wait at the school gate. She’ll be here soon.” Her tone was light and cheerful, making it clear to anyone that she was in a very good mood.
Seeing her like this, the melancholy in Zhou Ruoxin’s heart deepened a few notches: she had known Mo Zibei for so many years, but Mo Zibei had never been this way because of her… Thinking deeply about it, she felt a profound sense of unfairness.
Meng Yuanhao gently pulled her sleeve, whispering, “Let’s go.”
Zhou Ruoxin collected her thoughts and walked behind the two of them with her head slightly bowed.
They waited at the school gate for about five or six minutes before Mu Hanxi arrived, thoughtfully bringing them three cups of milk tea.
Under the dim streetlights, Zhou Ruoxin walked forward, her eyes wide, seriously observing Mu Hanxi, who was getting out of the car with the milk tea and gracefully walking toward them.
Mu Hanxi had delicate, refined features and fair, smooth skin. Based solely on her appearance and complexion, she looked more like a gentle woman from the Jiangnan region, yet her physique also possessed the slender height of a northern beauty. These features blended perfectly on her without any jarring contrast.
In modern terms, she was beautiful with fair skin, a slender waist, and long legs. Mu Hanxi’s looks and figure perfectly matched the modern public’s promotion and pursuit of beauty.
Her taste in clothing and fashion was also excellent. A cyan-blue silk shirt paired with well-tailored, slim-fit trousers of the same color not only maintained elegance but added a touch of sexiness…
Perhaps because she was driving, she was currently wearing a pair of bright white sneakers. These sneakers, brimming with youthful energy, added a layer of boyish charm to her…
“Hello everyone, I’m Mu Hanxi,” she spoke gently, wearing a polite, slight smile. “I’m Zibei’s new friend.” Her tone was natural and easygoing, not making anyone feel awkward or uncomfortable. “These were a new product recommended by a colleague. They said it was good. You can try them and see what you think.”
Meng Yuanhao was closest to her. Mu Hanxi offered the first cup of milk tea to him, then to Zhou Ruoxin, and finally to Mo Zibei.
“Thank you, Sister.” “Thank you, Sister Mu.” The three thanked her softly.
Zhou Ruoxin no longer maintained her sullen expression. She was already embarrassed about hitching a ride, and now Mu Hanxi had spent money on them. She felt awkward and could only offer a polite smile. Continuing to wear a strained expression would have been too impolite.
“Sister Mu, let me introduce them,” Mo Zibei’s eyes, directed at Mu Hanxi, held unconcealed laughter. “This is Zhou Ruoxin, and this is Meng Yuanhao. The three of us grew up together.”
“I’ve heard about you from your Teacher Lin before,” Mu Hanxi’s eyes crinkled in a smile. “She said the three of you have a great relationship and always go to school and eat together.”
Meng Yuanhao was initially too shy to talk to the beautiful older sister, but hearing Mu Hanxi say that, he relaxed, a smile spreading across his face. He spoke naturally about their childhood antics: “Sister, Zibei probably hasn’t told you about our childhood. In the beginning, Zibei was cold and didn’t want to talk to anyone. We had to stubbornly cling to her. Plus, Ruoxin had a lot of mischief up her sleeve. Zibei was constantly bothered by us and finally had no choice but to be our good friend.” He couldn’t help but laugh at the end. Seeing this, Zhou Ruoxin annoyedly pinched his arm. What do you mean, a lot of mischief? This annoying guy just talks nonsense!
Mu Hanxi smiled with them, then tilted her head and winked at Mo Zibei, looking a little mischievous, as if asking: Were you really like that when you were little?
Mo Zibei immediately blushed when she saw that…
