Kidnapping the Female Teacher's Best Friend - Chapter 13
Chapter 13
Upon entering the office, Old Luo first poured himself a cup of hot water, changed the tea leaves, and then sat in his chair, leaning his left elbow on the desk, holding the cup in his right hand, leisurely shaking his head and gently blowing on the hot air inside.
The three students were left to dry like little fish.
After about five or six minutes, Old Luo finally lifted his eyelids to glance at them and said faintly, “Who wants to speak first?”
No one answered.
Old Luo was not in a hurry and continued to sip his tea at his own pace.
A little while later, Ding Mingduo couldn’t bear the tension anymore. Having run out of patience, he put on a false air of innocence and grievances in front of Old Luo.
Qu Junzhi’s face flushed crimson with anger listening to him tell blatant lies. She was about to speak up and argue when Old Luo raised a hand to stop her: “Wait for him to finish first.”
Qu Junzhi huffed and turned her head, unwilling to listen any further.
When Ding Mingduo finished his act, it was Qu Junzhi’s turn to take the stage.
She recounted everything, from the unpleasant incident of the love letter on the playground to Ding Mingduo’s fake twist that caused him to bump into her and spill water all over Mo Zibei today, and finally to Ding Mingduo intentionally tripping her to make her fall. She laid out every detail.
With every incident she mentioned, Ding Mingduo’s face darkened one degree more. Every time he wanted to object, Old Luo stopped him with a look. By the end, Ding Mingduo’s face was ashen, and his fists were tightly clenched.
After listening to Qu Junzhi, Old Luo took a sip of tea and gestured to Mo Zibei with his chin: “Do you have anything to add?”
“I second Qu Junzhi’s statement.”
“Mhm,” Old Luo said calmly, “Then you and Qu Junzhi can go back now.”
“They are deskmates, they are in a clique, and they must have conspired together!” Ding Mingduo burst out, veins bulging on his forehead, roaring, “This is not fair!”
“Not fair?” Old Luo’s face darkened. He forcefully slammed the slender stainless steel cup onto the desk, creating a clanging sound. “How do you want it to be fair? Do you want me to pull up the surveillance footage so we can see clearly?”
At the mention of surveillance, Ding Mingduo instantly fell silent, looking at Old Luo, slowly losing his confidence and his aggressive stance fading.
Old Luo also didn’t want to blow the matter up. The issue was resolved under his control. Ding Mingduo’s parents came to the school, and they brought Ding Mingduo to apologize to Qu Junzhi. Afterward, Ding Mingduo also wrote a corresponding self-reflection report.
Qu Junzhi didn’t want her family to know about these things. At her repeated pleas, Old Luo didn’t inform her parents, and the matter was thus concluded.
After the eighth class, Zhou Ruoxin heard about the incident from Meng Yuanhao. At first, she was greatly surprised, then she became angry and indignant: “Are you saying Zibei fought someone for Qu Junzhi?”
“Yan Xiaoshuai said that guy started fighting with Qu Junzhi, and later Zibei got involved too. He saw things going south, so he ran to our class to tell me…”
As he was explaining, Zhou Ruoxin kept a tight face, not saying a word.
When Mo Zibei came to find the two of them for dinner, she saw: one was long-winded, and the other had a stiff face.
“How was the matter handled?” Seeing Mo Zibei approach, Meng Yuanhao leaned over to ask her for the details.
“Old Luo told Qu Junzhi and me to go back to the classroom first. He should handle the follow-up issues.” Noticing Zhou Ruoxin’s bad mood, Mo Zibei questioned Meng Yuanhao with her eyes.
Before Meng Yuanhao could react, Zhou Ruoxin coldly dropped a sentence: “I’m not hungry. You two go eat.” She turned and walked away.
“Hey, Zhou Ruoxin,” Meng Yuanhao quickly chased after her. “Wait for me…”
Mo Zibei didn’t understand what was going on, let alone realize that Zhou Ruoxin was angry at her.
She waited in place for a while, and when the two didn’t return, she went downstairs and wandered around for a few laps.
When she returned to the classroom, she found two bags of bread and a bottle of yogurt on her desk.
“Meng Yuanhao brought them for you.” Seeing the question on her face, Du Chenxing quietly explained.
Mo Zibei hummed. Since class was about to start, she didn’t eat, and put everything in her desk drawer.
Qu Junzhi returned just as the class bell rang.
She was carrying a small, bulging bag.
Her uncle had visited her on Sunday afternoon during the short break and brought her a lot of food. That night, she wanted to share half of it with Mo Zibei, but her prideful nature made her reluctant to appear so proactive…
Today, Mo Zibei helped her kick someone, which was the perfect timing. After eating in the cafeteria, she hurriedly returned to the dorm to retrieve the items…
Qu Junzhi sat down, slightly panting, and glanced out the front door. Seeing that no teacher had arrived yet, she relaxed.
“Here.” Qu Junzhi pushed the bulging small bag onto Mo Zibei’s desk.
“For me?” Mo Zibei asked in surprise.
“Mhm.” Qu Junzhi pulled out her pre-study papers and pen and started reading them with her head down, a deliberate action to cover her shyness.
“What’s in here?”
“Open it and see for yourself.”
Under Du Chenxing’s curious gaze, Mo Zibei opened the bag’s zipper and found it was full of snacks: beef jerky, Xue Mei Niang (mochi dessert), walnut crisps, dried fruits, chocolate bars, cookies, small bread, preserved plums… a vast assortment of various things.
“!!!!!!!!” Du Chenxing’s eyes widened at the sight. He usually loved snacks, but his mom had restricted them, worried that a preference for snacks would affect his normal eating habits.
“Qu Junzhi is so good to you!” Du Chenxing excitedly tugged at Mo Zibei’s collar, his envy undisguised.
Qu Junzhi seemed to be studying, but her attention was focused on Mo Zibei. Hearing Du Chenxing’s straightforward comment, she felt both shy and happy: she certainly wanted to be good to Mo Zibei.
Mo Zibei’s expression didn’t change much. She randomly picked out a bag of beef jerky from the bag: “There’s too much. I can’t eat it all.” After saying that, she handed the bulging bag back to Qu Junzhi.
Qu Junzhi stopped writing and looked at her: “I’m not asking you to finish it all at once.”
Mo Zibei didn’t reply. She glanced at the front door. Seeing that the teacher hadn’t arrived yet, she quietly tore open the packaging, pinched out a long strip of beef jerky, handed it to Qu Junzhi, and then gave one to Du Chenxing. Before taking it, Du Chenxing rubbed his T-shirt with his fingertips.
Seeing her insistence, Qu Junzhi didn’t press further: “Then I’ll keep it here for now. Take whatever you want to eat whenever you want.”
Mo Zibei hummed in acknowledgment.
Du Chenxing, chewing the beef jerky, kept an eye on the surroundings. While doing all this, he didn’t forget to praise Mo Zibei in a low voice: “This beef jerky is really delicious…”
As soon as he finished speaking, Zhu Dong turned his head to look. He had been listening intently since Mo Zibei tore the packaging. When he heard Du Chenxing’s comment confirming it was beef jerky, he finally couldn’t hold back anymore…
Du Chenxing met Zhu Dong’s intense gaze and momentarily forgot to chew.
Zhu Dong’s eyes moved down, staring at the half-piece of beef jerky left in Du Chenxing’s hand, and he involuntarily swallowed his saliva.
Du Chenxing nudged Mo Zibei with his elbow. Just as he was about to speak, he saw a figure at the front door: the teacher had arrived.
He quickly stuffed the rest of the beef jerky into his mouth, chewing rapidly. He covered his mouth with his left hand to hide it and pointed his pen at the questions with his right, pretending to study earnestly.
Sensing the unusual atmosphere, Mo Zibei and Qu Junzhi also reacted quickly, pulling out their books to shield their movements. Zhu Dong finally turned back around reluctantly.
After evening self-study, Mo Zibei still left with Zhou Ruoxin and Meng Yuanhao, but Zhou Ruoxin still looked the same as before—not very happy.
The two of them remained silent the entire way, with only Meng Yuanhao chattering endlessly by himself.
At the fork in the road, Mo Zibei stopped her bike, resting her feet on the ground. Zhou Ruoxin subconsciously stopped too.
Mo Zibei looked over at her. Zhou Ruoxin quickly looked down at the ground.
“I’ll come to your house for breakfast tomorrow.”
Zhou Ruoxin was stunned, looking up at her in surprise.
“I haven’t had Auntie’s cooking in a long time.”
Zhou Ruoxin raised her hand to brush back the stray hairs on her forehead, her expression relaxed, and her eyes held an uncontrollable smile: “Mhm, then I’ll tell Mom tonight to prepare an extra serving tomorrow morning.”
Meng Yuanhao chuckled and leaned over, raising his voice: “What extra serving? I’m coming to eat too tomorrow.”
Zhou Ruoxin was now in the mood to argue with him: “Thick-skinned… Who gave you permission to come and eat?”
“A-woo! I’m injured, and you’re still not being nice to me…”
Mo Zibei glanced at the two who were starting to squabble, turned her bike around, and quietly cycled away.
She didn’t go straight home. Feeling a bit hungry, she wanted to buy something warm from the snack street. Coincidentally, she ran into Mu Hanxi halfway there.
She caught an unintentional glimpse of Mu Hanxi’s car as she passed a chestnut shop. She had deliberately memorized the car’s color and license plate, and it was firmly etched in her mind.
There were also a fruit store and a convenience store next to the chestnut shop. Mu Hanxi should be nearby.
Mo Zibei rode her bike back a short distance, stopped not far away, and carefully watched the few shops.
When Mu Hanxi came out of the store carrying fruit, Mo Zibei rode her bike over, cleverly engineering a meeting: “Mu Jie?”
Mu Hanxi looked up at her, her expression slightly surprised, then smiled and asked, “What are you doing here?” Mo Zibei’s home was in the old district, and this was not on her way.
“Mhm…” Mo Zibei rubbed the tip of her nose. “I didn’t eat dinner… I wanted to come here to buy something to eat.”
“What do you want to eat?” Mu Hanxi asked, following her lead.
Mo Zibei gripped the handlebars tightly, then relaxed her hands. Her face felt slightly warm, and she lowered her voice: “I want to eat what Mu Jie makes…”
They were about two meters apart, and Mo Zibei spoke softly. It would have been normal not to hear it, but Mu Hanxi caught every word.
Mu Hanxi pursed her lips and smiled at the reply, her tone relaxed: “I only have noodles at my place right now. Do you want to eat?”
Mo Zibei was visibly stunned, her eyes showing a mix of surprise, happiness, and a hint of shyness…
She didn’t speak, so Mu Hanxi took the initiative to ask again: “How about tomato and egg noodles?”
“Anything is fine with me…” Mo Zibei lowered her gaze, her thumb rubbing the handlebar.
“Then do you want to follow my car or ride your own bike?”
“I’ll ride my bike beside you.”
“Mhm,” Mu Hanxi gave her a faint smile. “Then I’ll drive a little slower later.”
Mo Zibei nodded.
Mu Hanxi drove in the motorized lane, and Mo Zibei cycled in the non-motorized area. They were not far apart and seemed quite coordinated.
When Mu Hanxi stopped the car, Mo Zibei proactively helped her carry the fruit, and Mu Hanxi allowed her to do so.
The two walked side by side outside and entered the elevator together. Using the mirror surface of the elevator, Mo Zibei secretly measured Mu Hanxi, who reached about her eyebrows. Her height should be around 168 cm, which is an ideal height for many girls…
Sensing the observation, Mu Hanxi turned her head to look, not saying anything, but her eyes held a question.
Mo Zibei abruptly withdrew her gaze, lowering her head, not daring to look again.
On the third floor, someone else got into the elevator.
To avoid a slightly mischievous and moving child, Mu Hanxi moved back repeatedly.
Mo Zibei was afraid she would fall, so she subconsciously reached out her hand, loosely circling her waist.
Mu Hanxi had intended to tell Mo Zibei “I’m fine,” but in the next second, the mischievous child poked her knee with a toy gun…
Mu Hanxi’s body wobbled, and in a breath, she tumbled into Mo Zibei’s arms… Mo Zibei tightened her grip, holding the person close, her heart racing like a wild deer. Her eyelashes trembled constantly, and her ear tips flushed red…
