In this Second Chance at Life, where I can see skills as clear as day, everything feels like a breeze. And to make it even better, I’m spending my days joyfully with my First Love. - Chapter 69
Fulfilling my first love from my past life, I finally married Ichika.
The wedding, officiated by Koumei, was held in front of gods like the Supreme God and Poseidon. There, we pledged eternal love to each other and became husband and wife.
I married the girl of my dreams, Ichika.
In my previous life, I was mocked as a “subpar computer,” worked myself to death, and died from overwork. Back then, my one-sided crush on Ichika in elementary school ended when we drifted apart. But now, she’s not just my first love anymore—she’s my wife.
I couldn’t stop crying during the wedding, overwhelmed by joy. Even thinking back to it now brings tears to my eyes. I hold back, though, because if I cry, my sensitive Ichika—who can feel my emotions through our bond—will cry too.
And so, the morning after the wedding arrived.
“Yasushi! Are you awake? Let’s get to training today!”
The booming voice of Poseidon woke me up. It was loud enough to penetrate even the soundproof walls of our high-end home.
I was still drowsy—last night was our wedding night, and we, well… got a little too enthusiastic. As a result, I stayed up much later than usual. On top of that, it was the day after our wedding, and all I really wanted to do was laze around and cuddle with Ichika.
Reaching out to stroke Ichika, I realized the bed was empty.
Just as I started to wonder where she went, the door creaked open.
“Yasushi, Poseidon’s here. Aren’t you going to get up?”
“Mm… what time is it?”
“It’s already past noon.”
Ichika stood in the doorway, wearing an apron and giving me a half-lidded stare.
Oh. No wonder she wasn’t in bed anymore. Normally, I’d be training with Poseidon by now, but today was the day after our wedding. Shouldn’t I spend it entirely with Ichika?
“You should go,” Ichika said casually, a faint smile on her face. “Training, I mean. After all, we have decades, centuries—no, millennia together. There’ll be plenty of time to relax later, don’t you think?”
True, as jinma—a hybrid of human and demon—Ichika and I had lifespans comparable to gods.
“But still, it’s our first day as newlyweds…”
“Go on,” she urged, her voice calm yet firm. “Besides, you slept in until noon. If you wanted to spend more time with me, you should’ve woken up earlier, don’t you think?”
“Well… I guess you’re right…”
It wasn’t just last night’s festivities that made me sleep in—I’d also been emotionally drained from the wedding, the nervous buildup, and the sheer joy of it all.
“A-are you mad at me, Ichika?” I asked nervously.
“No, I’m not mad. But it wouldn’t be fair to keep Poseidon waiting after he came all this way. Be nice to him, okay?”
“Y-yeah, you’re right…”
“Oh, and I made you a bento for lunch. Have a protein shake for breakfast before you go.”
“Wait, you made me a bento?”
“Of course. I figured you’d go training as usual.”
“Thanks, Ichika!”
Her thoughtfulness melted away any hesitation. Besides, they say if you skip one day of training, it takes three days to make up for it. The idea of my six-pack softening because I got too comfortable was enough motivation to get me moving.
As a man, I had to stay in top shape to impress my wife.
“Poseidon, give me a sec. I’ll be ready soon.”
“Alright! Don’t keep me waiting!”
I quickly washed my face, brushed my teeth, and gulped down a protein shake before packing the bento Ichika had made into my item box. Thanks to the box’s preservation magic, the food would still be warm when I ate it.
“All set. Let’s go.”
Poseidon and I headed to the 33rd floor of the dungeon, just above the one where Ichika and I lived.
This floor used to be a typical dungeon level with monsters, but ever since Poseidon started coming here, it had become our designated training zone. Not that the monsters were gone—they just became part of the workout.
We began with our usual stretches, carefully warming up for the session ahead.
While I didn’t mind doing repetitive bodyweight exercises thanks to my Repetition Trial skill, I also enjoyed sparring. There was something exhilarating about facing off against someone as powerful as Poseidon.
“Mana Armor!”
From the outset, I activated my full-body mana shield. This wasn’t the typical version used to enhance strength or defense. Instead, it added resistance and strain on my body, making the training even more grueling.
Poseidon, meanwhile, began strapping on multiple weights.
“Come, Yasushi! Let us sweat and grow stronger together!”
With a mighty shout, Poseidon slammed his fist into the ground, activating Sea Domain. Instantly, the entire floor was submerged in seawater, leaving only a few inches of air at the top.
The water amplified Poseidon’s power while adding resistance and restricting my breathing—making it an excellent training environment.
“Glub… blub blub (Let’s do this)…”
“Phew. I had quite the handicap today, but still, I couldn’t match you, Yasushi-dono,” Poseidon admitted, his voice tinged with both admiration and exhaustion.
“You don’t look tired at all,” I replied, munching on one of Ichika’s rice balls. Its salty flavor perfectly replenished my electrolytes after the intense workout. “Meanwhile, I’m wiped out.”
“It doesn’t show,” Poseidon teased.
“Just putting on a brave face. Anyway, heading to train with Kanahebi after this?”
“Indeed! As a demigod dragon, Kanahebi’s potential is astounding. Training with him is a delight. Care to join us?”
I grinned, energized by Ichika’s bento and the thought of the happy life awaiting us both. Life was good—and it was only just beginning.
Ever since marrying Ichika, my first love from my previous life, it feels like I’ve been living in a dream. Our wedding, officiated by Koumei, took place before gods like the Supreme God and Poseidon, and we pledged eternal love to one another.
I’m now officially married to the girl of my dreams.
The morning after our wedding, however, reality came knocking—literally—in the form of Poseidon’s booming voice calling me to train. While I wanted to savor the moment and spend the entire day basking in my newlywed bliss with Ichika, it seemed life had other plans.
Still, the memory of the wedding itself brings tears to my eyes whenever I think about it. I cried from sheer joy during the ceremony, and my tears set off Ichika’s own emotions. It was a moment of overwhelming happiness that I’ll never forget.
“Yasushi-dono! Are you awake? Today is another fine day for training!” Poseidon’s unnecessarily loud voice pierced through the supposedly soundproof walls of our home.
I groggily opened my eyes, still exhausted from last night. It had been our first night together as husband and wife, and, well… let’s just say things got intense.
“Yasushi, Poseidon’s here. Aren’t you going to get up?” Ichika’s voice came from the doorway.
“Hmm? What time is it?”
“It’s already past noon,” she replied, wearing an apron and giving me a half-lidded look of mild exasperation.
Oh. That explained why she wasn’t still in bed next to me.
“Today’s the day after our wedding, though. Maybe I should skip training and just—”
“You should go,” Ichika interrupted with a smile. “You’ll have plenty of time to spend with me from now on. We have the rest of our lives together, don’t we?”
She wasn’t wrong. As jinma (human-demons), our lifespans rivaled those of the gods, and we could expect to be together for centuries, if not millennia.
“Yeah, but it’s our first day as a married couple, you know…”
“Don’t worry about it,” she said, handing me a bento box she’d prepared. “Here’s your lunch. Make sure you eat it, okay? I even made it extra filling.”
I couldn’t help but smile. “Thanks, Ichika. You’re the best.”
After a quick wash and a makeshift protein shake, I left the house with Ichika’s bento safely stored in my item box, where it would stay warm until lunchtime.
Outside, Poseidon was waiting, as enthusiastic as ever.
“Finally ready, Yasushi-dono? Let’s get moving!”
“Yeah, yeah, let’s go,” I replied, suppressing a chuckle.
Our training site was a dedicated floor in the dungeon—a floor I’d initially designed for standard monster battles but had since converted into a private training ground.
Upon arrival, Poseidon and I began our usual warm-ups. For me, this involved activating my specialized mana armor, not to enhance my power but to place additional strain on my body for the sake of training. Poseidon, meanwhile, strapped on his weighted equipment.
“Let’s do this, Yasushi-dono!” Poseidon roared, slamming a fist into the ground and activating his signature Sea Domain, instantly flooding the floor with water.
While the water gave Poseidon a significant boost in strength, it also increased my training intensity, forcing me to contend with reduced mobility and limited oxygen.
“Guh… gah! (Alright, let’s go!)” I gurgled through the water, already struggling against the resistance.
Three hours later, we finished our sparring session, and I collapsed onto the ground, drenched in both water and sweat.
“That was a good fight, Yasushi-dono. I must admit, you’re still as formidable as ever,” Poseidon said, showing no signs of fatigue despite the intense session.
“You’re one to talk,” I replied, taking a bite of one of Ichika’s onigiri. The salty, flavorful rice was the perfect post-training meal. “You don’t even look tired.”
Poseidon laughed heartily. “I’ve been pushing Kanahebi just as hard, you know. He’s getting stronger by the day.”
“Think he’s close to evolving?”
“Not quite, but he’s on the verge. When it happens, I’ll make sure you’re there to witness it.”
“Got it. Let me know when that day comes. For now, I’m heading back to check on Koumei and thank him for the wedding yesterday.”
“Give him my regards as well,” Poseidon said, clapping me on the shoulder.
At Koumei’s house, I was greeted not by Koumei himself but by an unfamiliar woman.
“Um… is Koumei here?” I asked awkwardly.
“Koumei? I’m sorry, but he’s not available right now,” the woman replied, tilting her head in confusion.
I quickly excused myself, but not before catching a glimpse inside. There were several women in the house, none of whom I recognized.
A harem? Well, it wasn’t my place to judge, but managing multiple relationships sounded like a logistical nightmare.
Shaking my head, I decided to return home early.
As I opened the door, Ichika greeted me in her apron.
“Welcome home, Yasushi. Or should I say… darling? Dinner? A bath? Or… me?” she asked, her voice playful yet tinged with a hint of shyness.
I froze, my brain short-circuiting. Was she seriously doing that trope?
“W-wait, are you actually—”
“Ehehe, I’ve always wanted to try it! So? How did I do?”
“My wife is way too cute!” I blurted, unable to contain myself.
Needless to say, I chose Ichika.
Afterward, we took a bath together, enjoyed dinner, and then… well, let’s just say the evening ended with even more “newlywed activities.”
