In this Second Chance at Life, where I can see skills as clear as day, everything feels like a breeze. And to make it even better, I’m spending my days joyfully with my First Love. - Chapter 68
“In sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, in wealth and in poverty, will you love, honor, comfort, and support each other as long as you both shall live? Do you so swear?”
Inside the thirtieth floor of our nation’s dungeon—once the lair of the Kanahebi, now transformed into an improvised chapel—Koumei, dressed in a priest’s robe, delivered these sacred vows.
“We do,” Ichika and I responded in unison.
“Then let us proceed with the exchange of rings.”
I turned to my left and saw her—the breathtaking goddess standing beside me. Draped in a pristine white veil, Ichika looked more radiant than any deity I’d encountered in the divine realm. None of them came close to her beauty.
Ahhhhhh. Every time I look at her, she’s so stunning, so beautiful… so absolutely perfect.
Even as she walked down the aisle earlier, I could barely hold myself together. And now, standing face-to-face with her, the dam broke. Tears blurred my vision, and I couldn’t stop them from streaming down my face.
“Y-Yasushi? Are you crying?” Ichika asked, clearly surprised.
“S-Sorry! I wanted to stay composed today, but… I’m just so happy! I can’t believe this is real. I’m actually marrying you. This isn’t a dream, is it?”
“It’s not a dream,” she said, her cheeks turning crimson. “Yasushi, from this moment on, you’re going to be my husband. So please, don’t cry? It’s so touching, but you’re making me blush…”
Ichika’s hazel eyes shimmered with tears as she spoke, her face flushed with emotion. Because of her Foresight, she could sense the depth of my feelings—the overwhelming joy and love that I couldn’t contain.
And thanks to the bond we shared as master and familiar, I could feel her emotions as well.
We were two people with hearts completely synchronized. Our joy amplified, doubling in intensity as we exchanged emotions.
The time came for the ring exchange.
The ring I gave Ichika was crafted by none other than the Divine Artisan of Ornaments, who had “agreed” to help after some strong negotiation tactics.
The ring Ichika gave me, however, was handmade by her. To me, it was the most precious treasure in the world. From this day forward, I vowed never to take it off.
“And now, the kiss to seal your vows,” Koumei announced.
I lifted Ichika’s veil, and her hazel eyes gazed straight into mine, filled with warmth and love.
“Yasushi…”
“Ah, Ichika… Please don’t look at me like that. You’ll make me cry even more…”
Tears streamed down my face uncontrollably, and, seeing me, Ichika started crying too. As our emotions resonated, the cycle of tears only grew stronger.
Even my godlike Mental Resistance wasn’t enough to stop the flood of emotions. My maxed-out stats, powerful enough to defeat the Supreme God with a single hand, were utterly useless against this surge of joy.
“Even so… Ichika, someone like me—are you truly okay with marrying me?”
“Not someone like you. You. I want to marry you because you’re Yasushi,” she said, her voice steady and filled with love.
“Ichika!”
I kissed her. Maybe it was supposed to be a kiss on the forehead—honestly, I was so overwhelmed that precision didn’t matter.
Even abilities like Hyper Calculation and Parallel Thought had completely abandoned me in this moment.
“I love you, Ichika.”
“I love you too, Yasushi.”
Koumei’s voice echoed through the room.
“I now pronounce Yasushi Sashima and Ichika Kobayashi husband and wife. Their bond is eternal and unbreakable, even by the hands of the gods. This is the ultimate affirmation of their love.”
Turning around, I saw my parents openly weeping.
“Our muscle head son… He really found a bride…”
Ichika’s father, meanwhile, looked somewhat wistful. “This day came sooner than I expected…”
Her mother comforted him with a smile. “It’s Yasushi-kun. You know she’s in good hands.”
Saotome-san, one of Ichika’s close friends, wiped her eyes while clapping softly. “Sister… I’m so happy for you…”
Poseidon, ever the lively one, bellowed with joy. “CONGRATULATIONS! SO MOVING! SUCH A BEAUTIFUL OCCASION!” His thunderous applause echoed through the chapel.
The Supreme God, meanwhile, sat off to the side with a sulky expression, shooting a subtle glare at Poseidon as if to say, Tone it down.
Despite the modest guest list of seven—including two gods, both our parents, and Saotome—the gathering was intimate and perfect.
“Yasushi, do you think we should do a bouquet toss?” Ichika asked.
“Well, let’s see…”
Everyone here was either already married, or, in the case of the gods, the concept of marriage seemed irrelevant.
“Still, it might be nice to share a little of our happiness,” I suggested.
“You’re right,” she said with a smile.
And so, the ceremony continued, filled with joy, love, and the promise of an everlasting bond.
When Ichika tossed her bouquet, the Supreme God—who had been sulking and sitting quietly—suddenly sprang to her feet, catching it mid-air. She glanced around nervously, her cheeks faintly flushed, before hugging the bouquet tightly to her chest, looking somewhat shy.
…Does the Supreme God want to get married too?
“Yasushi-dono! Ichika-dono! Congratulations! Such a joyous occasion calls for a grand celebration!” Poseidon roared enthusiastically.
As we walked down the makeshift aisle, leaving the improvised chapel, Poseidon energetically showered us with rice.
It was endearing—having someone genuinely share in our happiness like that was truly heartwarming.
Poseidon had become an invaluable friend. With his ever-improving physique, unwavering integrity, and earnest personality, I truly couldn’t have asked for a better companion.
And Koumei—who officiated our ceremony today—despite all the ups and downs, has built a stable and thriving nation where Ichika and I can live in peace. Though I tend to forget this while living deep in the dungeon’s inner sanctum, Koumei keeps everything running smoothly.
His thoughtfulness and hard work never go unnoticed. I’ve come to realize how lucky I am—not just with Ichika, but with friends like Koumei and Poseidon.
“Oh, Yasushi,” Ichika began, her voice laced with playful mischief, “when we get home… want to play ‘newlyweds’?”
“You mean like the classic, ‘Dinner or bath first?’ routine?”
“Yep. What do you think?”
“That sounds amazing. But with the reception coming up, maybe we should save it for tomorrow?”
“What are you talking about?” Ichika teased, flashing a sly grin. “It’s because it’s at night that it’s fun, isn’t it?”
That… that definitely means what I think it means, right?!
Her slightly shy yet mischievous smile made my heart race uncontrollably.
This feels too perfect—like a dream. But no, this is reality. I’ve truly married Ichika.
