I'm Not Playing This Vicious Female Supporting Character Anymore! - Chapter 6
Qin Yuzhen hummed in thought, then pulled out her Chinese textbook and began half-heartedly reading aloud, taking advantage of the early morning chaos.
The person beside her remained motionless, sound asleep. Qin Yuzhen glanced at them and couldn’t help but yawn.
She was utterly exhausted.
“System, keep an eye on things for me.”
……
“Oh.” The System was already accustomed to this; it had handled such tasks dozens of times before.
Qin Yuzhen used a card to reduce her presence. This card made ordinary NPCs ignore her, but its effect was diminished against protagonists—especially those who were particularly observant about their surroundings.
Rong Xi, seated ahead, kept glancing back at Qin Yuzhen. The moment Qin Yuzhen leaned forward to sleep, Rong Xi immediately noticed.
Rong Xi frowned slightly, looking pained. Qin Yuzhen was actually sleeping in class on her very first day!
“Rong Xi?” The teacher approached Rong Xi and tapped on the desk. “Focus on your studies and stop daydreaming.”
Rong Xi pressed her lips together and glanced at Qin Yuzhen again. The teacher followed her gaze.
“Host! Host! Wake up quickly! The teacher saw you!”
Qin Yuzhen was just about to fall asleep when the System’s alert startled her awake. Blinking blearily, she found Old Wang already standing right in front of her.
Old Wang stared expressionlessly at Qin Yuzhen.
Qin Yuzhen: …
“Teacher, what’s wrong?” Qin Yuzhen asked innocently.
“You still have the gall to ask me?”
“Huh?” Qin Yuzhen rubbed her eyes, still looking bewildered. “Did I fall asleep?”
“What do you think?”
“I’m sorry, Teacher. I saw my desk partner sleeping so soundly, and I couldn’t resist.” Qin Yuzhen pursed her lips.
The boy beside her tilted his head to glance at her. When the teacher approached, he had already flipped open his book and put it on the desk, pretending to study.
“Both of you, take your books and stand at the back of the classroom. Clear your heads properly,” Old Wang said with a cold sneer.
Qin Yuzhen: …
The two of them stood up and moved to the back of the classroom.
“Do I have a grudge against you?” the boy asked, exasperated. He’d clearly already managed to get through it.
“You were the one who influenced me. I’m just telling the truth,” Qin Yuzhen mumbled, hiding her face behind her book.
The boy let out another cold laugh.
“System, how did I get caught?”
“Rong Xi kept glancing at you, and when the teacher noticed, you were discovered too,” the System explained.
Qin Yuzhen: “……”
“So, am I just naturally incompatible with her?” Qin Yuzhen asked, somewhat exasperated.
She glanced at the boy beside her, who had actually closed his eyes again and was now standing asleep.
“This guy’s impressive. Is he a Tasker?” Qin Yuzhen asked.
“No, let me check his records.” The System glanced at the data. “Liang Xuzhou. A fringe NPC, consistently ranked fourth from the bottom in Class 1. No interaction whatsoever with the female lead.”
“There’s a rule in the Honors Class: the bottom three students are expelled, and the top three from the regular class are admitted in their place.”
Qin Yuzhen raised an eyebrow. “That’s pretty intense.”
“Indeed,” the System replied.
Qin Yuzhen eyed Liang Xuzhou beside her. His body was already swaying, and he’d likely collapse soon. She gradually edged away from him. At around 185 centimeters tall, if he fell on her, she’d be crushed.
“Qin Yuzhen, what are you doing?” Old Wang, the teacher ahead, noticed her movements and called out again.
“Teacher, he’s fallen asleep again. I’m afraid he’ll fall on me,” Qin Yuzhen said.
The next moment, Liang Xuzhou staggered to the left. Qin Yuzhen immediately jumped aside; he had indeed nearly fallen. Thankfully, he quickly regained his balance, drawing a roar of laughter from the class.
Old Wang: …
“Liang Xuzhou, come out here and talk to me. Qin Yuzhen, go back to your seat.”
“Okay, Teacher,” Qin Yuzhen replied with her signature sweet smile.
Liang Xuzhou tossed his book aside—whether intentionally or not was unclear—and it flew straight toward Qin Yuzhen’s head. Under everyone’s watchful gaze, Qin Yuzhen swiftly snatched the book out of the air, and it smacked Liang Xuzhou in the face before clattering to the floor.
The class fell silent for two seconds, then someone exclaimed, “Holy shit, impressive!”
The corner of Liang Xuzhou’s mouth twitched as he picked up the book and carefully placed it on the desk this time.
Old Wang, who had already left the classroom, stuck his head back in. “What are you doing, Liang Xuzhou? Do you want me to drag you out myself?”
Liang Xuzhou: …
Qin Yuzhen crossed her legs and lowered her head to text Rong Xi.
Qin Yuzhen: Sister, focus on class instead of staring at me. I know I’m good-looking, but try to control yourself.
Rong Xi never used her phone at school, as it was strictly prohibited. But when her phone vibrated this time, she couldn’t resist taking it out.
It was Qin Yuzhen, of course.
Seeing Qin Yuzhen’s message, Rong Xi pursed her lips.
Rong Xi: I wasn’t doing it on purpose… I didn’t even realize the teacher was there.
Qin Yuzhen: If you want to look at me, I can sit right in front of you at home and let you stare all you want.
Rong Xi: …
Rong Xi: No need for that.
Rong Xi tossed her phone into the drawer, waited a few seconds, then couldn’t resist taking it out again to check. She’d expected Qin Yuzhen to reply, but there was nothing. She pursed her lips, feeling inexplicably disappointed.
Qin Yuzhen had always been casual about chatting. Once she’d said what she wanted, she stopped talking. As for messages others sent her, she replied only if she felt like it.
In the System’s words, even though Qin Yuzhen was no longer a princess, she’d stubbornly maintained her “princess syndrome” for five hundred years.
Qin Yuzhen yawned, propping her chin in her hand. Only when the System alerted her that Old Wang had returned did she sit up straight.
Liang Xuzhou entered the classroom, pulled out a chair, and sat down, turning to shoot Qin Yuzhen a cold glare.
Qin Yuzhen sat upright in her seat, unmoving as a mountain.
“Listen, if you tattle on me again, don’t blame me for losing my temper.”
Qin Yuzhen gave him a look. “Come back and talk to me after that red mark on your face fades.”
Liang Xuzhou: …
“Host, it’s only natural that she’s upset after you exposed her.”
“I’ve never claimed to be reasonable, you know that.”
System: You’re quite proud of that, aren’t you?
“Besides, he already threw a book at me earlier to vent his anger. We’re even now.”
System: …
Qin Yuzhen slumped over her desk again. Rong Xi, seated in front, had been too afraid to turn around again after Qin Yuzhen caught her staring. This successfully made the teacher forget about the corner seat.
As soon as the bell rang, Old Wang left promptly.
Rong Xi immediately turned around to look at Qin Yuzhen. Seeing her asleep, Rong Xi felt a mix of helplessness and amusement. She walked over and gently poked Qin Yuzhen’s arm.
“What?” Qin Yuzhen turned her head to glare at Rong Xi.
“Next class is math, and the teacher is really strict. If she catches you sleeping, you might get kicked out,” Rong Xi whispered.
“Just don’t turn around to look at me, and the teacher won’t notice me.”
Rong Xi bit her lip. “It’s our third year of high school now. You need to focus on your studies.”
“Alright, alright, I know. Little sister.” Qin Yuzhen gazed at Rong Xi’s face, then finally sat up. She glanced around the classroom, noticing that while she was observing others, they were also observing her. Most eyes held non-malicious curiosity, though a few carried disdainful glances, which Qin Yuzhen chose to ignore.
“I’ll head out now.”
“Okay,” Qin Yuzhen nodded. She surveyed the class and concluded that, apart from herself, Rong Xi was the prettiest student. The second most attractive was the girl sitting in front of her.
The girl in front seemed to dislike Rong Xi. She had initially turned to speak to Qin Yuzhen but quickly turned back when Rong Xi approached, showing no intention of looking around again.
Qin Yuzhen activated her halo vision and confirmed it was indeed a Female Supporting Character Halo.
She pulled out a lollipop she had prepared earlier and patted the girl’s shoulder.
After a moment, the girl turned around, a hint of impatience on her face.
“Want a lollipop?”
“No.”
“How about a cookie?” Qin Yuzhen produced a small pack of cookies from her pocket.
Qin Yuzhen had attended high school over eighty times. Snacks, stationery, novels, dramas, celebrities, and pretty accessories were the bridges that built friendships between girls.
The other girl was silent for two seconds.
“You’re so beautiful,” Qin Yuzhen complimented, her expression sincere and genuine.
The other girl pursed her lips, took the biscuit from Qin Yuzhen, and replied reservedly, “Thank you. My name is Pei Jingyue.”
“I’m Qin Yuzhen.”
“Old Wang’s voice is quite loud. I’ll remember that.” Pei Jingyue tore open the biscuit and glanced at Rong Xi, who was nearby. “You and Rong Xi are close, aren’t you?”
Qin Yuzhen rested her chin in her hand. “What’s wrong? Don’t you like her?”
“No, she’s too weak and delicate. She’s clearly a white lotus.” Pei Jingyue made a dismissive expression. “Her girlfriend’s crush suddenly confessed to her. Who knows what they’ve been doing behind the scenes?”
Qin Yuzhen was silent for two seconds, then shook her head. “It’s not like that. Rong Xi is just naive.” It’s probably just the Female Protagonist halo at work.
Pei Jingyue gave her a knowing look. “Only you think she’s naive. I see how calculating she is. It’s best to keep your distance.”
“I can’t keep my distance. I’m staying at her house right now.”
Pei Jingyue: “……”
Qin Yuzhen looked at Pei Jingyue with a pitying gaze.
“How pathetic,” Pei Jingyue said, finishing her biscuit and wiping her hands on a napkin.
Rong Xi, the math class representative, returned from delivering homework to the teacher’s office to find Qin Yuzhen and Pei Jingyue chatting and snacking, looking quite at ease.
She pursed her lips. Though she knew Qin Yuzhen wasn’t bristly with everyone, seeing her interact so easily with someone else still made her feel a pang of sadness.
Qin Yuzhen took a bite of a biscuit and looked up, noticing Rong Xi’s resentful gaze.
She picked up a lollipop from the table and tossed it toward Rong Xi.
Startled, Rong Xi still caught it deftly, looking at Qin Yuzhen with a mixture of surprise and apprehension.
