I'm Not Playing This Vicious Female Supporting Character Anymore! - Chapter 16
“Then we’ll have to wait until the break, or after the high school exam?” Rong Xi suggested tentatively.
Qin Yuzhen pondered for a moment before nodding.
Rong Xi looked at Qin Yuzhen in surprise, never expecting her to be so agreeable.
Rong Xi couldn’t fathom Qin Yuzhen’s reasoning, but the System knew exactly what was going on: Qin Yuzhen was terrified that Rong Xi would actually draw her unflatteringly.
“Have you finished your homework?”
“Didn’t I finish it on Friday?” Qin Yuzhen glanced at Rong Xi.
“Ah, you don’t have the study group chat, do you? There’s more homework. I’ll add you to it,” Rong Xi said.
Qin Yuzhen: ???
“Don’t add me!” Qin Yuzhen protested, but Rong Xi was too quick, already swiftly adding her to the group.
“How am I supposed to pretend I didn’t see this now that you’ve added me?” Qin Yuzhen leaned back against the sofa, looking utterly defeated.
Rong Xi watched Qin Yuzhen. Though she didn’t want to admit it, seeing Qin Yuzhen flustered gave her a strange satisfaction.
“Then… just leave it yourself?” Rong Xi suggested cautiously.
Qin Yuzhen narrowed her eyes. “Rong Xi, your smile is about to split your face.”
Rong Xi instinctively touched her face. “Is it that obvious?”
“Yeah,” Qin Yuzhen replied, opening her phone and glancing at the group chat. Several people had already posted welcoming messages. She responded with a cute emoji.
Rong Xi glanced at the emoji, then looked back at Qin Yuzhen.
“I’ve sent you the homework.”
Qin Yuzhen didn’t respond, opening Rong Xi’s message and reading the list of assignments. Tears threatened to spill over. Why is there so much? she thought. Even though she could complete her homework quickly, she still didn’t want to do it.
“Sorry about that. I forgot while I was out shopping yesterday. There’s a lot of homework, so you should probably start working on it soon,” Rong Xi said, blinking apologetically.
“You did this on purpose, didn’t you?”
“Oh, come on, sis!” Rong Xi protested. “I really forgot.”
Qin Yuzhen took a deep breath, listening to Rong Xi’s familiar tone. “You’re learning quickly.”
“Huh?” Rong Xi was taken aback. It wasn’t until Qin Yuzhen went upstairs that she realized how much her own voice and tone had become… so annoyingly cheeky.
Rong Xi covered her mouth. It’s only been a few days. Have I already been influenced by her?
The next day at school, Rong Xi carefully observed Qin Yuzhen’s expression, relieved to find no trace of displeasure.
“Didn’t you forget to bring your stuff home? How did you even do the homework?”
“You were definitely doing this on purpose,” Qin Yuzhen sighed. “Times have really changed. People have lost all sense of decency.”
I shouldn’t have asked, Rong Xi thought.
“I just forgot, okay?”
“Don’t say another word,” Qin Yuzhen interrupted. “Let me wallow in silence and nurse my wounds.”
Rong Xi: “……”
“What do you want?”
System: This girl is still not smart. Isn’t it obvious that this is a trap? Why bother engaging with her?
“Help me with my homework?”
“In your dreams,” Rong Xi rejected the idea immediately.
“Let me copy your answers?” Qin Yuzhen suggested, but before Rong Xi could refuse, she dismissed the idea herself. “Never mind, I don’t trust your accuracy.”
Rong Xi: “???”
“Then I’ll just have to think of something else.”
“I’m not making Xiang Yin Ya again,” Rong Xi emphasized immediately.
“Right, it’s not that tasty anyway.”
Rong Xi: “???”
She desperately wanted to tell Qin Yuzhen how incredibly annoying that dish was, but feared that if she did, Qin Yuzhen might make her continue making it just to torment her.
Rong Xi was frustrated, but she couldn’t say anything.
Qin Yuzhen leaned against the car window, closing her eyes to rest. Rong Xi glanced at her several times.
When the car stopped, Qin Yuzhen couldn’t resist sighing, startling Rong Xi beside her.
“I don’t want to go to school.”
“Are you in elementary school?” Rong Xi couldn’t help but retort.
System: No, she’s a 500-year-old demon.
As soon as Qin Yuzhen stepped out of the car, she saw Zhao Pàohuī loitering by the school gate, craning his neck. Pretending not to notice him, she sauntered over to Rong Xi.
“What’s wrong?” Rong Xi lowered her voice, glancing at Qin Yuzhen and looking around furtively. She still remembered the incident with the pervert lurking nearby.
“You haven’t felt it?”
Rong Xi pursed her lips. “It’s mainly because so many people usually watch me… That strange feeling was only particularly noticeable on Fridays.”
Rong Xi glanced around, greeting a few acquaintances.
“It should be fine. I’m usually surrounded by so many people.” Rong Xi suddenly realized this; she rarely moved alone, always accompanied by others at school.
“Oh.”
Rong Xi glanced at Qin Yuzhen and tentatively asked, “Could it be that person is actually stalking you?”
“I just arrived. Who could I have offended? My desk partner?”
Rong Xi: …
“You know you offended her, right?” Rong Xi sighed, subtly hinting at Qin Yuzhen’s expression.
Qin Yuzhen laughed. “I did it on purpose. What can you do about it?”
“Oh.” Rong Xi mused that karma was a cycle. If Qin Yuzhen was bullying her now, it wouldn’t be long before Rong Xi turned the tables and bullied Qin Yuzhen.
Though it seemed unlikely, anything was possible. Rong Xi had already decided that when her fortunes changed, she’d make Qin Yuzhen organize the dressing room.
Rong Xi’s lips couldn’t help but curl into a faint smile.
“Dreams really are quite wonderful.”
The smile on Rong Xi’s face froze for a few seconds.
“Tsk.” Qin Yuzhen leaned in close to Rong Xi’s ear. “Sis, keep a straight face. You didn’t say it outright, but I can tell what you’re thinking from your expression.”
Rong Xi silently edged away. “I wasn’t thinking anything.”
“Right. So you definitely weren’t thinking about hanging me up and beating me?”
“Did you think your actions were so reprehensible that you deserved to be hung up and beaten?” Rong Xi asked, puzzled.
Qin Yuzhen: …
The System burst into raucous laughter, not having seen a Salted Fish speechless from being outwitted in ages.
Rong Xi also noticed Qin Yuzhen’s stunned silence and chuckled inwardly.
“This female lead learns quickly.”
“Indeed. Though she’s picking up all the bad habits and none of the good ones,” the System agreed.
“I think you might want to be sent back for destruction,” Qin Yuzhen muttered.
Back in class, Qin Yuzhen sat down and glanced at her desk partner, who was already snoring softly. “Liang Xuzhou.”
“Have you ever been to the hospital?”
Liang Xuzhou remained silent.
“Sleeping eighteen hours a day… don’t you think…”
Liang Xuzhou desperately wanted to pretend he hadn’t heard, but as Qin Yuzhen’s words grew increasingly outrageous, he finally looked up. “How do you know I sleep eighteen hours a day? I’m perfectly fine, thank you.”
“Host, you can’t take out your frustration from Rong Xi on your desk partner,” the System sighed softly.
“I’m just giving you a friendly reminder,” Qin Yuzhen said. “Besides, who says Rong Xi made me suffer? Would I get angry over her? No!”
Noticing Qin Yuzhen’s expression growing increasingly stormy, Liang Xuzhou quietly edged closer to the wall. He could sense he might be getting dragged into this.
“Today, I’m going to deal with that creep once and for all,” Qin Yuzhen muttered, rubbing her wrist.
“That’s supposed to be the Male Protagonist’s job.”
“The Male Protagonist hasn’t even appeared yet, thank you. At this rate, if we wait for him to act, we’ll be waiting until the cows come home,” Qin Yuzhen retorted. “The opportunity will have long passed.”
[The System: You know that too!]
Qin Yuzhen stroked her chin, glancing thoughtfully at Liang Xuzhou.
“Desk Partner.”
“What now?”
“I added you as a friend on QQ. Accept it.”
[The System: Liang Xuzhou – Danger!]
