I'm Not Playing This Vicious Female Supporting Character Anymore! - Chapter 10
The System ignored her.
Due to Qin Yuzhen’s actions, Rong Xi spent the entire class in a state of confusion, completely missing what the teacher was saying.
As soon as the physics teacher left, Rong Xi quickly slipped over to Qin Yuzhen’s side. “Why…?”
“Why what?” Qin Yuzhen gave Rong Xi a blank look.
“When we came here at lunchtime… why were we here so quickly?”
“Because we sprinted here. Human potential is limitless,” Qin Yuzhen replied nonchalantly.
Rong Xi stared at Qin Yuzhen, words failing her. She pressed her lips together. “Could I really run that fast?”
“Why not?”
“Because I usually take four minutes to run 800 meters…” Rong Xi mumbled, convinced she had already been running as fast as she could during that distance.
Qin Yuzhen rested her chin in her hand. “So, according to your understanding, how did we get here?”
She waited, chin propped up, for Rong Xi to answer.
Rong Xi opened her mouth, but no other explanation came. After all, any other explanation would be far too absurd.
“Stop daydreaming about nonsense. You’re not a little kid anymore,” Qin Yuzhen said, rubbing her neck.
“Oh,” Rong Xi replied, returning to his seat.
The System silently sighed.
[ Host, third period is gym class, and there’s a plot point involving the male and female protagonists. ] the System informed her.
“What does that have to do with me?” Qin Yuzhen asked.
“According to the original plot, you’ll fall for the male protagonist at first sight.”
Qin Yuzhen scoffed. “Then it doesn’t concern me.”
“Right.” The System had intended to remind Qin Yuzhen not to interfere with the protagonists, but seeing her expression, it decided it was best to keep quiet.
For gym class, students needed to arrive early at the track. Rong Xi instinctively walked over to Qin Yuzhen’s side.
“When there’s no test, we just do some warm-ups and have free time afterward,” Rong Xi explained, walking beside her.
Like a little wife, the System thought.
“Oh.”
“Usually, I go back to the classroom to do homework,” Rong Xi said. “If you want to exercise, I can keep you company.”
Qin Yuzhen glanced at him. “What kind of exercise could someone who takes four minutes to run 800 meters possibly keep up with me?”
Rong Xi: “……”
“Some people in our class take five or six minutes to run this distance. I’m actually pretty fast…” Rong Xi murmured.
“So you’re quite proud of that?”
Rong Xi glanced at Qin Yuzhen. “Well, how fast can you run?”
Qin Yuzhen pondered for a moment. “About three minutes, I think.”
Noticing Rong Xi’s shocked expression, she couldn’t resist adding, “Isn’t that pretty normal?”
Rong Xi: “……”
The two arrived at the track. Many classmates were already there, lining up. Rong Xi returned to her place in the queue, while Qin Yuzhen silently took her spot at the end. Given her above-average height among the girls in the class, her position at the back wasn’t unusual.
“Host, the Male Protagonist has appeared,” the System announced, considerately activating the Protagonist Halo in case Qin Yuzhen couldn’t find him. The halo above his head shone particularly brightly among the group of supporting characters and extras.
“This Protagonist Halo is really too bright,” Qin Yuzhen remarked, turning her head to look.
“Well, he is the Male Protagonist. The Female Protagonist’s halo is just as bright.”
“What’s the Male Protagonist’s name again?” Qin Yuzhen asked.
The System remained silent for two seconds. Even after all this time, it still hasn’t even remembered the Male Protagonist’s name?
“Ye Yunchen.”
“Oh.”
The warm-up involved running two laps around the track, each lap being 400 meters. Before the teacher could finish giving instructions, groans erupted from the class.
Qin Yuzhen glanced at Rong Xi. Though she wasn’t vocalizing her complaints, her face was ashen. Throughout the two laps, her focus remained solely on running, and she didn’t spare the Male Protagonist a single glance, even when passing him twice.
While many girls secretly stole glances at the Male Protagonist, Qin Yuzhen also stole a glance.
He’s quite handsome, with the standard Male Protagonist looks. She usually had a soft spot for good-looking people, except for those with a Protagonist Halo hovering above their heads.
Therefore, her only thought right now was to strip that halo from his head.
Ye Yunchen, who was in the middle of a conversation, felt a sudden chill at the back of his neck.
After completing the warm-up, Rong Xi collapsed onto the ground, propping herself up on her hands. If not for maintaining her image, she would have flopped onto her back.
Many girls had already left the track, while the boys gathered to play basketball.
Only Rong Xi remained seated on the ground.
“Tired?”
“Mm-hmm,” Rong Xi nodded. “I don’t usually feel this exhausted.”
Qin Yuzhen stood nearby, watching her. “There’s a soccer game over there. It’s not safe to sit here. Let me help you move to a safer spot.”
“I don’t want to move. I’ll just sit here for a bit longer,” Rong Xi shook her head. “I’ll feel better soon…”
Just as she finished speaking, a soccer ball flew toward them. A boy sprinted to intercept it, but Qin Yuzhen was faster. She took a few steps forward and kicked the ball back with force, sending it hurtling toward the goal.
The goalkeeper dove to catch the ball, cradling it in his arms as he slammed heavily onto the ground.
“Holy shit!” the boys on the field exclaimed. “That was insane!”
The boy who had tried to intercept the ball slowed to a stop beside them. As expected, it was the Male Protagonist. Qin Yuzhen exchanged a brief glance with him before looking away. She then walked over to Rong Xi, helped her up, and led her off the field.
Rong Xi, having witnessed the entire sequence of events, sighed in admiration. “You’re amazing.”
“What’s so impressive about that? I just kicked the ball back,” Qin Yuzhen said, her face impassive as she stared at Rong Xi. “I told you not to sit on the playground. If I hadn’t kicked the ball back, you would have been crushed for sure.”
Rong Xi nodded in agreement. “Thank you.”
She completely failed to notice the third person present.
System: There was clearly a male protagonist.
System: I just knew this person would ruin everything!
[ Host, that should have been the first meeting between the male and female protagonists. ] The System sounded exasperated.
“Oh.”
Host, did you do that on purpose?
“No.” Qin Yuzhen blocked the System. This entity was becoming increasingly talkative.
“Do you want to go back to the classroom?” Rong Xi asked.
Qin Yuzhen shook her head firmly. “I don’t want to go back.”
She didn’t even want to do the homework assigned by the teacher, let alone go back and study.
Rong Xi looked around. “Then do you want to play badminton or tennis? Those are the only two sports I know.”
“Let’s play badminton,” Qin Yuzhen said, looking at Rong Xi. “Should I go easy on you?”
“Don’t underestimate me! I’ve had badminton training!” Rong Xi retorted. “You’re talking about going easy on me before we even start. Don’t lose later.”
“What if you lose?”
“If I lose, I’ll make you Xiang Yin Ya,” Rong Xi said.
Qin Yuzhen raised an eyebrow. “That confident, huh?”
“Mm-hmm,” Rong Xi nodded. “And if I win, you can’t bully me or tease me ever again.”
“When have I ever bullied you?” Qin Yuzhen asked.
Rong Xi stared at her expressionlessly, not saying a word, but her meaning was clear.
The System also chimed in with a sardonic laugh.
The two borrowed their equipment. Fortunately, they were quite lucky; there was still one spot available on the badminton court.
It was clear that Rong Xi was taking this seriously, sparks of determination flickering in her eyes.
“Host, just let Rong Xi win. Don’t make her cry,” the System suggested.
“She’s so serious. Wouldn’t letting her win be disrespectful?” Qin Yuzhen laughed.
Since the Female Protagonist was competing, quite a crowd gathered, filling the entire badminton court—a scene that hadn’t existed in the original story.
Gu Si also joined the crowd, cheering loudly, “Go, Zhenzhen!”
Rong Xi glanced at Gu Si, inwardly scoffing. She had originally considered letting Qin Yuzhen win if she couldn’t beat her, to save her some face. But now, she had no intention of showing any mercy.
“Here,” Qin Yuzhen tossed the ball to Rong Xi. “You serve first.”
Rong Xi immediately went all out, showing no intention of holding back. Qin Yuzhen raised an eyebrow, casually sidestepped, and returned the serve. The two exchanged volleys, keeping the ball aloft for a long time.
At first, Rong Xi felt she was evenly matched with Qin Yuzhen. But as the rally continued, she realized Qin Yuzhen was simply toying with her. The girl wasn’t even using her full strength.
“Qin Yuzhen! Didn’t I tell you not to hold back?” Rong Xi shouted.
The ball dropped to the ground.
Qin Yuzhen glanced at Rong Xi. The girl’s eyes were slightly red, teetering on the verge of tears.
Qin Yuzhen: …
She served the ball, this time without holding back, putting everything into it. It was a simple serve, but the sheer force behind it made it unnervingly fast. Rong Xi couldn’t return it. Watching the ball fall to the ground, she took a deep breath, trying to hold back her tears, but they still rolled down her cheeks.
“Look at you! You just don’t think I’m good enough!” Rong Xi said, picking up the ball. “I quit.”
“Why are you crying?” Qin Yuzhen asked, exasperated.
Rong Xi sniffled, wiped away her tears, and protested indignantly, “I’m not crying. You’re mistaken.”
“First dry your tears, then tell me I’m mistaken,” Qin Yuzhen said, pulling out a pack of tissues and pressing it into Rong Xi’s hand.
“Zhenzhen, you’re so amazing! I want to play against you too. Let me have a go, okay?” Gu Si approached, glancing at Rong Xi. Though she’d noticed Rong Xi’s tears earlier, she feigned surprise with a surprised “Eh?”
“Rong Xi, why are you crying?” Gu Si asked, frowning and lowering her voice. “If you keep crying here, people will think Zhenzhen is bullying you.”
Rong Xi finally finished wiping her tears. “You can play with her. I’m not playing anymore.”
With that, she turned and walked away, racket in hand.
Qin Yuzhen watched her go. “Wait.”
Rong Xi snorted inwardly, smugly glancing at Gu Si, only to hear Qin Yuzhen’s next words.
“Why are you taking your racket?”
Rong Xi: …
System: …
Gu Si nearly burst into laughter. “Rong Xi, give me your racket. Zhenzhen and I will return it later.”
“Then I’ll just wait here,” Rong Xi grumbled, reluctantly handing over her racket.
Gu Si took the racket, feeling the tug as Rong Xi tried to pull it back. “Rong Xi?”
