I'm a Professional at Being a Scumbag [Quick Wear] - Chapter 2.1
Le Yi stood in the living room for a few minutes, just about to change clothes and go out to look for her, when the door clicked open.
A girl with a messy head of hair and ill-fitting clothes stood there, holding two plastic bags.
Seeing Le Yi, she said coldly, “Breakfast. I used your money.”
It was just one portion of soy milk and fried dough sticks.
Le Yi didn’t ask anything. She just turned and went into the bathroom to wash up.
Chu Qiao’s eyebrows knit tightly as she scanned the sparsely furnished room. She pursed her lips, staring at the gloomy weather outside for a long time before finally accepting her fate.
The truth was, she hadn’t gone out to buy breakfast. She had been planning to run away. But in this strange city, she had no idea where to go.
She used to have her uncle to rely on, but ever since Li Xiaomei had gained power, she had systematically cleared out all of the Chu family’s relatives. Her uncle could barely protect himself. If she were to add to his troubles, his situation would only get worse.
Without an ID card, she couldn’t even get on a train.
She had always prided herself on being smart, believing she could solve any problem on her own, but now she saw that wasn’t the case.
The predicament she was in now had her trapped in a muddy swamp, unable to break free.
But could this woman really be trusted?
She had never seen her before, nor had she heard her parents or any other relatives mention her. For her to suddenly appear in this situation made it very difficult not to be suspicious.
The pathetic thing was, it seemed she had no choice but to rely on her.
Le Yi returned to her room to change and found that the few hundred dollars in her wallet were indeed gone.
The little rascal had tried to steal her money and run away, so why had she come back?
Le Yi sat down at the dining table, took a bite of a fried dough stick, and asked, “Why is there only one portion?”
“Just eat it. Why do you have so many questions?” Chu Qiao was already irritable, and her words were laced with fury.
Le Yi raised an eyebrow and calmly enjoyed her breakfast.
Chu Qiao was swallowed by Le Yi’s clothes, creating a strangely comical sight.
Le Yi stared for a few seconds before she couldn’t help but let out a laugh.
Chu Qiao glared at her and turned away, refusing to look at her anymore.
How annoying.
Le Yi found a smaller tracksuit for her, tidied up the garbage in the house, and said, “Let’s go buy you some clothes. We can get you familiar with the area at the same time.”
Chu Qiao reluctantly picked up the clothes, shot Le Yi a look, and, seeing that Le Yi had no intention of looking away, slammed the room door shut with a bang.
“Oh, are you shy? What’s there to be shy about? You’re as flat as a board.”
Chu Qiao threw the clothes on the bed, clenching her fists in anger.
I’m already developing, okay? What do you mean flat?
She looked down at herself and then recalled Le Yi’s figure, realizing there was no comparison.
I’ll be bigger than her one day!
The tracksuit was still a bit too big, but it was much better than before.
Le Yi was 173 cm tall, with long limbs, a slender waist, and a 34C chest. She was a rare supermodel-type actress in the entertainment industry.
Her height limited her roles, so she could only play supporting characters—it was hard to find a male actor whose height and presence wouldn’t be overshadowed by hers.
Later, a certain investor took a liking to her and tried to pressure her into an indecent proposition. Le Yi, in a fit of rage, flipped the table over, spilling hot liquid all over the greasy, pot-bellied man. Afterward, her company froze her out. She hadn’t had any legitimate work for a long time and was even struggling to eat.
If it weren’t for Zhu Qiong and her agent’s financial support, or the occasional odd job, she probably would have starved by now.
When she signed the contract all those years ago, she knew it was full of traps, but she had no choice.
Once she entered a “minor world,” she had to follow the pre-determined plot. It was a rule she couldn’t change.
Even if she had the ability to avoid it, the rules would force her to make the most foolish decisions.
Le Yi leaned against the doorway, watching Chu Qiao emerge, a small smile playing on her lips.
“The color suits you. We’ll buy this color later.”
Chu Qiao already felt awkward in the baggy clothes, and Le Yi’s comment made her even more self-conscious. She brushed past her and walked out.
Le Yi followed behind and asked, “Do you know where the mall is?”
Chu Qiao said nothing, but quietly slowed her pace.
Le Yi’s smile deepened. She walked up and took her hand.
“Follow me. Don’t get lost.”
Chu Qiao struggled twice but couldn’t pull away.
What did this woman eat growing up? How was her grip so strong?
*******
Once they reached the mall, Le Yi immediately took Chu Qiao to buy clothes, spending all the money she had saved for the next six months’ rent.
Le Yi was holding several bags in both hands while Chu Qiao was empty-handed, looking like a young lady and her attendant.
Le Yi felt something was off and handed a few bags to Chu Qiao.
“Since you’ve decided to stay, you have to learn to help out. From now on, whether we’re at home or out, you have to do what you can. You’re not a young lady anymore.”
Chu Qiao’s eyes darkened for a moment. Le Yi paid her no mind and kept walking.
She wasn’t going to hold back just because she was afraid of hurting Chu Qiao’s feelings. If she was that fragile, how could she ever get revenge?
It was like desensitization therapy. The more she said it, the less Chu Qiao would care.
Back home, Le Yi tidied the side bedroom and threw the mop to Chu Qiao.
“I’ll sweep and you’ll mop. Fair enough, right?”
Chu Qiao held the mop, looking at the smiling woman, wanting nothing more than to charge at her.
No one had ever dared to treat her this way since she was a child!
Were mopping and sweeping really the same thing?
Le Yi was not used to sleeping with others. Since Chu Qiao no longer planned to run away, it wasn’t a big deal for her to sleep in the side bedroom.
That evening, Le Yi made a simple two-dish, one-soup meal. While they were eating, Zhu Qiong called and asked if she wanted to take on a side job for extra money.
It was a godsend, and Le Yi immediately said yes.
Chu Qiao ate her meal in small bites, glancing at Le Yi, who was deep in conversation on the phone. A sense of confusion welled up inside her.
Why would she bring her back when she could barely support herself?
Was she planning to fatten her up and sell her for a good price?
Le Yi hung up the phone and saw the girl looking lost in thought. “What are you thinking about?” she asked.
“Are you trying to sell me?”
The words slipped out before Chu Qiao could stop them. She immediately regretted it, pressing her tongue against her teeth, her head bowed as she avoided Le Yi’s gaze.
Le Yi burst into a clear, ringing laugh that filled the room.
“What are you thinking? Selling people is against the law. I don’t want to go to jail. Hurry and eat before the food gets cold.”
Chu Qiao continued to eat her rice quietly, a sense of relief washing over her.
Le Yi stood up and said, “Wash the dishes when you’re done. I’m going to rest.”
She was tired after a long day of walking.
Chu Qiao was speechless.
She really wasn’t a good person!
Le Yi, by muscle memory, walked back to her own room, changed into her pajamas, and lay in bed reading a script. The sky soon grew dark.
Chu Qiao was doing everything for the first time, but she was a quick study and soon got the hang of it, leaving the kitchen sparkling clean. She then walked into the bedroom, satisfied with her work.
Le Yi, living alone, never paid much attention to her appearance. She just did whatever was comfortable. At the moment, she was lying on her side, a blanket between her legs, with her pajama top rolled up to her waist, exposing her long legs and pink underwear.
Hearing the door open, Le Yi turned her head. Seeing it was Chu Qiao, her mind worked quickly. “Go sleep in the other room,” she said.
Her mattress was custom-made and very expensive. She couldn’t bear to throw it away when she moved. It was too good for Chu Qiao.
Chu Qiao turned her head away and said blankly, “Can you put your clothes on properly?”
Le Yi belatedly glanced down and pulled her pajamas back into place.
“I always dress like this at home. You’ll get used to it.”
Chu Qiao didn’t hesitate, walking over and crowding onto the bed.
“Hey, what are you doing?”
Chu Qiao stared at her. “I want to sleep on this bed.”
“This is my bed,” Le Yi stated, making it clear.
Chu Qiao smirked. “It’s mine now.”
Le Yi gave up, sprawling out on the bed like a starfish. “My bed is my bottom line. I won’t give in.”
Chu Qiao mimicked her, lying down and pressing her arms and legs on top of Le Yi. She closed her eyes, ready to go down with her.
Chu Qiao was taller than other girls her age but very skinny. Her weight was less of a burden than carrying a 20-pound bag of rice up three flights of stairs for Le Yi.
But she was truly not used to sharing a bed with anyone. After a dozen minutes of stalemate, she decided to concede the bed to the stubborn girl.
“Alright, alright. I’ll go sleep in the other room. Get off me.”
The person next to her didn’t move. Le Yi turned to look and saw that the girl had already fallen asleep.
Chu Qiao’s skin was very fair, translucent and flawless. Not a single pore was visible. In her sleep, the coldness she used to keep people at a distance vanished, replaced by a docile innocence that made you want to get closer.
Le Yi watched her for a while, marveling at how the female lead’s beauty stats were maxed out.
She gently moved Chu Qiao’s leg off her own. As she went to pull away her hand, Chu Qiao rolled over and grabbed a certain prominent area.
Le Yi’s hand froze. After confirming it was an unintentional move, she was about to try again when Chu Qiao hugged her tightly.
“Bear….”
Whatever the girl was dreaming of, she buried her face in Le Yi’s neck, her breathing long and steady.
Le Yi’s hand circled in the air before she pulled the blanket over the girl.
Just for one night, little one. Next time, no.
As night deepened, she closed her eyes.
For some reason, she had a feeling tomorrow would be a good day.
******
The next day, Le Yi had a spare key made for Chu Qiao. Chu Qiao took it without giving her a nice look.
On the third day, Le Yi came home from work and brought Chu Qiao a Black Forest cake. Chu Qiao ate it without giving her a nice look.
On the fourth day, with Zhu Qiong’s help, Chu Qiao became a registered resident of Xi Ning and was added to Le Yi’s household registry. Chu Qiao looked at it, still didn’t give her a nice look, but took the initiative to mop the floor.
