He Shenyu has transmigrated into a book—a melodramatic, “dogblood” BL novel titled Prison of Deep Love.

In the original plot, the protagonist (the “Shou”) goes astray to pay for his brother’s medical bills and sells himself to the CEO protagonist (the “Gong”). He becomes the CEO’s caged canary, sparking a messy cycle of “I love you, you don’t love me, I don’t love you anymore, now you love me.”

The good news: He Shenyu didn’t transmigrate as a main character. No melodrama for him! The bad news: He Shenyu transmigrated as the CEO’s private doctor—a glorified tool who has to wake up at midnight to clean up the CEO’s messes whenever the phone rings.

While sipping his drink, He Shenyu realizes he has arrived right at the start of the plot. Stepping out for some fresh air, he happens to run into the future canary, Ning Chen—who, at this moment, is still just a timid, innocent college student.

Thinking of the endless midnight phone calls in his future, and remembering the tragic ending where this poor guy ends up blind, He Shenyu has a momentary lapse of resolve. He stops the protagonist right then and there.

He Shenyu: “Looking for a benefactor? I can afford a million, too. Come with me!”

To pay for medical fees, Ning Chen signed a sponsorship contract. Before starting his “job,” the bar manager gave him a crash course: For the sake of money, you must satisfy every whim of your benefactor; just endure it until the contract ends.

Prepared for the worst, Ning Chen showered and dropped his robe the moment he arrived at his benefactor’s house. To his surprise, He Shenyu didn’t touch him…

At first, Ning Chen felt lucky. But over time, He Shenyu treated him better and better. They didn’t seem like benefactor and plaything; they felt like a couple in love.

However, Ning Chen couldn’t understand one thing: Why did He Shenyu always refuse to go all the way?

When the contract finally expired, He Shenyu told him, “You’re free. You can go now.”

Ning Chen lowered his eyes, gave him a deep look, and threw the contract on the floor. “The sponsorship is over? Fine. Then let’s just get married!”

He Shenyu was stunned.

That night, Ning Chen crawled into He Shenyu’s bed, pinned him down, and tilted his chin up. He said coldly, “Hubby, if you’re ‘incapable,’ I don’t mind taking the lead… but don’t say the word ‘breakup’ a second time.”

He Shenyu swallowed hard, terrified. Wait, what’s going on?
