I Revealed My True Identity After Confessing My Love - Chapter 28
Du Xiran walked over holding a bottle of milk: “Sorry, there are no security cameras in this house. I’ve let you down.”
Ye Nanning felt like she truly couldn’t clear her name now; she really didn’t mean to be holding that piece of lingerie in her hand! Although a wave of shyness followed the initial shock, it only intensified, and her face gradually turned red.
“Is this yours, Sis, or mine?” Du Heruo walked over, picked up the lingerie to take a look, and remarked, “It has lace trim; it’s definitely not mine.”
Hearing this, Ye Nanning’s face turned even redder.
Lace trim…

“Give it here.” Du Xiran snatched her belonging from her sister’s hand and took it back to her room. Then, acting as if nothing had happened, she introduced them to each other: “This is my sister, Du Heruo. And this young lady here is the tutor I found for you. Listen to her and study hard, do you hear me?”
“I hear you, I hear you,” Du Heruo nodded perfunctorily. She finally took a proper look at Ye Nanning, looking her up and down. She gasped in admiration and exclaimed, “Sister, you are so beautiful!”
“Thank you, you’re very beautiful too,” Ye Nanning replied politely. Then, looking at her seriously, she felt the girl looked strangely familiar. Thinking of something, she asked, “Is your surname Du?!”
Du Xiran: “……”
Du Heruo looked at Du Xiran in confusion, her eyes full of bewilderment, is this sister really a tutor? Why does she seem a bit dim-witted?
Ye Nanning also realized her blunder belatedly and forced herself to stay calm: “Sorry, I had a momentary lapse in thought.”
She had suddenly thought of the photo of the girl Ye Tingyuan had shown her and asked out of curiosity, completely forgetting that since this girl was Du Xiran’s sister, of course her surname would be Du!
Du Heruo laughed: “You’re so cute.”
Ye Nanning: “……” I’ll take that as a compliment for now.
“Go to the room and start the tutoring,” Du Xiran said. “Hurry up, time is money. Don’t waste your lives here.”
Ye Nanning: “……”
Du Heruo led Ye Nanning into the room. As soon as she closed the door, she said, “My sister is always so strict about rules and efficiency. Don’t mind her.”
Ye Nanning wanted to say, I don’t mind at all. Whether she’s strict with rules or strict with me, it’s all fine.
But that thought was too suggestive, so she couldn’t say it out loud.
Du Heruo’s room had its own bookshelf. Besides textbooks, it was filled with manga, novels, and figurines.
“Sister, sit here.” Du Heruo moved a chair for her to sit by the desk. “By the way, what is your name? How should I address you?”
“I am Ye Nanning,” Ye Nanning said in a formal and constrained manner.
“Then I’ll call you Sister Xiao Ye,” Du Heruo smiled, took out her textbooks, and began pointing out difficult points to ask questions.
Of course, she was mostly just putting on an act.
After all, she had only mentioned it casually last time; who knew her sister would actually find a tutor. Her weekend life had already been stripped away, and now she had to spend it studying, it was too bitter!
Originally, she thought that if she didn’t like the tutor, she would find a way to drive them away. But who knew this lady would be so good-looking!
Just appreciating her beauty made it worthwhile.
To her surprise, Ye Nanning taught very diligently, explaining things in great detail and depth. Even though Du Heruo was initially distracted, she couldn’t help but become serious under Ye Nanning’s patient guidance. In particular, a formula she never understood suddenly became clear after the explanation. Once she understood how to use it, everything else fell into place! A huge sense of accomplishment washed over her.
Halfway through the session, Du Xiran, keeping a strict eye on the clock, walked in and said, “You’ve been at it for 55 minutes. Take an eight-minute break before continuing.”
“Eight minutes?!” Du Heruo cried out. “You won’t even give me ten? You’re more cruel than school!”
“There are seven minutes and thirty-two seconds left now. If you need to use the bathroom, go quickly,” Du Xiran said.
Du Heruo: “…….”
Du Heruo ran to the bathroom, whining all the way.
“Are you tired?” Du Xiran asked Ye Nanning. “Is she being disobedient?”
Ye Nanning shook her head: “Not tired. She’s actually quite serious.”
“You don’t have to speak up for her. I’ve tutored her myself; I know what she’s like.” After saying this, Du Xiran handed her a glass of milk.
“Thank you, Director Du.”
Du Heruo still hadn’t come out of the bathroom. Ye Nanning also felt the need to use the restroom and looked at her hesitantly: “Director Du…”
“Want to use the bathroom?”
Ye Nanning nodded.
“Follow me.” Du Xiran led her to her own bedroom door. Just as she was about to push it open, she paused abruptly. After a brief internal struggle, she warned, “No matter what you see in a moment, you are not allowed to tell anyone.”
“Okay.” Ye Nanning looked puzzled until she saw the even messier bedroom and couldn’t help but be silently amazed.
Ye Nanning really wanted to ask how she usually tidied up. Du Xiran said defensively, “Usually a part-time cleaner comes to tidy up. Occasionally, Zhang Mishuang comes to help me out too.”
Ye Nanning nodded slowly.
Du Xiran also felt embarrassed and tried to save face: “I’m usually too busy, I simply don’t have time to clean.”
“Right.”
Ye Nanning thought to herself that God is indeed fair. He gave Du Xiran a pair of hands to manipulate data but took away her ability to tidy a room.
While washing her hands after using the bathroom, Ye Nanning saw the toiletries on the counter were also scattered in disarray. She couldn’t help herself and lined up all the bottles and jars neatly. Only then did she feel at ease.
Du Xiran walked to the door and took a look: “Do you have OCD?”
Ye Nanning: “……”
Do you have “disorganized placement syndrome”?
Du Xiran smiled: “You’ve seen my embarrassing side.”
Ye Nanning: “……” I wouldn’t dare laugh.
At that moment, the delayed part-time cleaner finally arrived. Du Xiran brought some fruit into the room for the two studious girls and then sat in the living room working on her laptop.
An hour later, she knocked on the door again right on time: “Time’s up.”
“Wait a second, I have one more problem to finish!” Du Heruo shouted.
The door opened, and Ye Nanning looked at Du Xiran: “Give her a few more minutes, she’s about to solve it.”
Du Xiran said amusedly, “You’re making it seem like I’m trying to break up your study session.”
Ye Nanning smiled.
Just then, Du Xiran’s phone rang. A client had arrived in City B and was heading to the company, wanting to meet her to discuss a potential collaboration.
Du Xiran hung up and hurried back to her room to change. When she came out, she was once again a business elite: “I have to go to the office. Ye Nanning, you can head back once the tutoring is done. Du Heruo, behave yourself at home. If I’m not back by six, just order takeout.”
The two nodded and watched her leave, then looked at each other.
“Sister Xiao Ye, are you leaving now?” Du Heruo asked.
Ye Nanning was silent for a moment. She didn’t really have a reason to stay anymore now that the tutoring was over.
“Oh, I solved this problem. Check it for me to see if it’s right,” Du Heruo said, handing her the scratch paper.
Ye Nanning looked at it for a while and said, “The process is completely correct, but the answer is wrong.”
Du Heruo: “……”
Ye Nanning: “Carelessness. Look again at what the answer should be.”
Du Heruo sheepishly checked it and finally rubbed her head: “Help, why would I make such a mistake!”
Ye Nanning smiled.
After Du Heruo corrected it, she picked up an orange from the side and handed one to her, then started peeling one for herself, chatting: “Sister Xiao Ye, how do you know my sister?”
“She is my supervisor,” Ye Nanning replied.
“So how is she as a boss? Is she the same as at home, not liking to tidy things and having a temper?” Du Heruo asked.
Ye Nanning shook her head and ate a segment of the orange: “Director Du is very impressive at the company. We all respect her very much.”
“It’s so hard to imagine that scene,” Du Heruo marveled. “I’m telling you, I can’t even get a hot meal at home. It’s always takeout. After a while, it’s not even as good as the school cafeteria.”
“Cooking is quite time-consuming,” Ye Nanning added supportively.
“My sister says the same, and even if she’s in a good mood and tries to cook, the consequences are disastrous.” Du Heruo seemed to remember something and said animatedly, “Last time she watched some food blogger’s video and said she wanted to learn a dish. The resulting omurice… you couldn’t even tell the eggs from the rice.”
Ye Nanning instantly remembered Du Xiran asking her for a detailed recipe on Weibo and laughed softly.
Du Heruo was stunned: “This is the first time you’ve truly laughed since you got here. It looks so pretty.”
Ye Nanning’s face turned slightly red. To ease her shyness, she instinctively picked up a Rubik’s Cube from the table and started turning it. In less than two minutes, all six sides were solved.
“Holy crap!!!” Du Heruo looked at her in shock. “Sister Xiao Ye, how are you so amazing? I only know how to do one side. Can you teach me how to solve all six?”
“It’s very simple.” Ye Nanning began explaining the formulas for each side, guiding her step by step.
An hour and a half later, Du Heruo finally managed to solve it. She hugged the cube and screamed, “Aaahhh! I did it! I finally did it!”
The sky had turned dark. Ye Nanning checked the time; it was 6:30 PM, and Du Xiran wasn’t back yet.
“Sigh, I should order takeout. Every time I do, I never know what to get,” Du Heruo sighed, then looked at Ye Nanning. “Sister Xiao Ye, stay and eat with me. I really like you.”
Ye Nanning: […]
Du Heruo opened the delivery app, but then she heard Ye Nanning say, “Don’t order. What do you want to eat? I’ll make it for you.”
“Really? You know how to cook too?!” Du Heruo’s eyes brightened further. “Is there anything you can’t do?!”
Ye Nanning pursed her lips and smiled. She went to the kitchen, opened the fridge, and saw it was full of drinks. Fortunately, she found a carton of eggs in the corner and said, “Is omurice okay?”
“Yes!”
The kitchen tools were complete and very tidy, this was the cleanest area Ye Nanning had seen. It was obvious Du Xiran really didn’t use the kitchen much.
“I wonder if Director Du is coming back to eat.”
“I’ll ask her.” Du Heruo made a call and hung up a minute later. “She said she’s eating with the client and not to worry about her.”
So Ye Nanning only made enough rice for two. While waiting, she took another look around the living room.
the part time cleaner had finished the cleaning; the house was now clean and tidy. The apartment wasn’t particularly large a two bedroom, one living room, one kitchen, and one bathroom layout. Being able to buy a place in the center of City B, where every inch of land is precious, already placed her far above the average working class.
Ye Nanning strangely liked the feeling of this house. Although it was a bit messy and small, it had more of a “lived-in” feel and was very cozy, much more comfortable than the Ye family’s large villa.
Once the rice was ready, Ye Nanning put on an apron and began cooking.
Du Heruo had disappeared somewhere. When the omurice was done, Ye Nanning called out her name, but the girl might not have heard.
She felt that calling her by her full name might not be quite right, so she added: “Little Du… Heruo… little kid, time to eat.”
Du Heruo ran out of her room, giggling: “What do you mean ‘little kid’? You aren’t much older than me.”
“Still older than you,” Ye Nanning muttered, placing the food on the dining table. “Eat up.”
“My sister even says you’re a kid,” Du Heruo said with a laugh.
Ye Nanning’s face heated up.
“Wow, it looks so good!” Du Heruo looked at the omurice on the table in surprise, took out her phone to snap a photo, and said proudly, “I’m going to send this to my sister to show her what she missed.”
Ye Nanning smiled again, but she also felt nervous, wondering if Director Du would like it when she saw it.
Du Heruo took a spoon, poked through the egg skin, and took a bite: “Help! It’s so delicious! Sister Xiao Ye, from now on, you are my idol!”
Seeing her eat so happily made Ye Nanning happy too.
Thinking about it, this seemed to be the first time she had cooked for someone else. It turned out that being praised for one’s cooking was such a wonderful thing.
After eating, Du Heruo took the initiative to wash the dishes.
Ye Nanning stood to the side with nothing to do. It wasn’t early anymore, it was time to go back.
She felt a bit of regret, though….Director Du didn’t seem to notice the dress she wore today at all.
Ye Nanning said goodbye to Du Heruo and took the trash out with her, throwing it into the bin near the hallway entrance.
While waiting for the elevator, she saw a real estate agent bringing a couple past her to look at the apartment directly opposite Du Xiran’s.
Out of curiosity, she walked over and stood at the door to eavesdrop on the introduction. Unfortunately, the couple felt it was over their budget and had to give up.
As the agent was closing the door, he noticed the person who had appeared out of nowhere and asked, “Miss, can I help you?”
Ye Nanning looked at him with sparkling eyes.
Around 9:30 PM, Du Xiran finally returned home. she half-lay on the sofa and rubbed her brow.
“Sis, I’m telling you, the meal Sister Xiao Ye made was so delicious,” Du Heruo said, leaning in beside her.
“You let her cook for you?” Du Xiran gave her a sidelong glance. “I’m warning you, she is your tutor, not your maid.”
“I know! She saw how pitiful I was and offered to cook. I even saved some for you; do you want to try it?” Du Heruo asked.
Although Du Xiran had entertained the client, it was impossible to focus on eating while discussing business. She was only half-full.
Without waiting for an answer, Du Heruo ran to the microwave to heat it up, then placed the omurice in front of her and shoved chopsticks into her hand.
The omurice was no longer in its perfect shape, but Du Xiran decided to have a little anyway, taking two bites skeptically.
“!!!”
Du Xiran snapped her head toward Du Heruo and pointed at the rice on the plate: “This… Ye Nanning really made this?!”
“Isn’t she amazing!” Du Heruo was satisfied to see her sister show the same surprised expression she had. “She is too powerful!”
Du Xiran sped up and finished the remaining half-bowl, then drank some water and slumped comfortably on the sofa, patting her stomach: “Being rewarded with a delicious meal after work, this is what a happy life is called.”
On Monday, when Du Xiran saw Ye Nanning, she specifically praised her cooking. Ye Nanning said, “If Director Du likes it, I can make it for you often in the future.”
Du Xiran assumed she meant making a meal after the weekend tutoring sessions, so she smiled and agreed, thinking she would settle the food expenses along with the tutoring fees.
However, a few days later, she opened her door ready to go to work.
At that moment, the door opposite also opened. Ye Nanning walked out unhurriedly and, seeing her, took the initiative to greet her: “Director Du, morning.”
Du Xiran: ???
Du Xiran stepped back into her room and closed the door, suspecting she hadn’t woken up properly.
She rubbed her eyes and opened the door again. Ye Nanning was still standing at the opposite doorway waiting for her, asking politely: “Director Du, can I hitch a ride in your car?”
Du Xiran asked in astonishment: “Why are you here?!”
