I Revealed My True Identity After Confessing My Love - Chapter 18
Du Xiran stopped teasing her. Some things must be forgotten,
otherwise how was she, as a leader, supposed to keep her dignity?
Last night when she sent her to the door, Ye Nanning had messily smeared lipstick across her lips, catching her off guard.
After finding the room card, she helped her into the room. Ye Nanning leaned against her, soft and pliant, carrying a faint scent along with the lingering smell of alcohol from dinner.
Seeing that Ye Nanning kept sliding toward the floor, Du Xiran simply held her by the waist. But just as she did, Ye Nanning slipped again, and her hand accidentally landed right on Du Xiran’s chest.
“……”
Embarrassing.
With no choice, she dragged her to the bed and tossed her onto it. Because of inertia, she fell forward as well.
Half of Ye Nanning’s body landed on top of her. She was nearly crushed. After taking two breaths, she suddenly heard Ye Nanning murmur:
“Ranran.”
Du Xiran: “No respect at all.”
Ye Nanning seemed to hear it, lowered her head, and nuzzled into the crook of her neck like a spoiled kitten asking for affection.
Du Xiran chuckled and pushed her head down. “Don’t move, that tickles.”
Once drunk, some people became hard to control. The usually obedient girl wasn’t listening at all Du Xiran couldn’t predict her next move, and Ye Nanning only rubbed against her more enthusiastically.
Du Xiran rolled her eyes at the ceiling. Suddenly, she felt a cool touch on her neck. She sat up abruptly and looked at Ye Nanning in shock. The girl seemed unaware of what she had just done and kept her eyes closed, ready to fall asleep.
“All right, just you wait.”
Du Xiran picked up the lipstick in her hand. Mischief flared she drew a silly face on Ye Nanning.
“Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you’re pretty. Even my patience for beautiful troublemakers has its limits. Hmph.”
After finishing, she took out her phone to snap a photo.
Then she realized something was off.
She was supposed to draw a funny face
but somehow she’d drawn a cute cat.
This wouldn’t do. The Women’s Revenge Alliance™ would never approve.
In the end, Du Xiran wiped her face clean and tucked her into bed properly.
After lunch, they headed to another company one of the targets on the potential acquisition list. The headquarters happened to be in Z City, so Du Xiran decided to visit directly.
The company was preparing to go public and wanted to acquire another business to boost valuation. But their desired industry didn’t align with the client’s field, so the chances of success weren’t high.
Still, Du Xiran wouldn’t let any opportunity slip.
They waited in the reception room for quite a while before the executive finally came to meet them. He said hurriedly,
“Sorry, too many meetings today. Miss Du, could you keep things brief and shorten the time as much as possible?”
Ye Nanning sensed the perfunctory tone.
Du Xiran maintained her smile, discussed the acquisition possibility, and handed over the prepared documents.
“This is the valuation report. I know you’re more interested in acquiring an internet tech company, but those grow quickly any company with real traction won’t sell, and newly founded ones won’t help with your IPO.
As for this traditional manufacturing sector even though e-commerce hits it hard this is heavy industry. It’s not easily pushed out of the market in a short time. It’s stable, which fits your current needs, doesn’t it?”
The executive nodded with less perfunctoriness.
“All right, I’ll look into it.”
Du Xiran glanced at Ye Nanning, who immediately handed over her business card.
“This is my card. If you need anything, feel free to contact me directly,” Du Xiran said with a smile.
“Sure.” He looked at the card and smiled. “Hope we have a chance to work together. Sorry for not hosting you properly today.”
“Then you’ll have to host us next time,” Du Xiran replied.
“Hahaha, no problem. Xiao Li, see Miss Du and her colleague out.”
Their work for the day concluded. In the car, Ye Nanning checked the documents in her bag, and after confirming everything was in order, finally relaxed.
Then a gust of wind blew in, scattering her hair everywhere.
She reached up to tame it and saw that Du Xiran had rolled the window down at some point, staring outside.
“How is it? Are you getting used to this?” Du Xiran asked without turning around.
“Not really,” Ye Nanning replied.
Du Xiran laughed. “Which part?”
“Too wild.”
Du Xiran turned her head in confusion, saw her chaotic hairstyle, and burst out laughing.
“Yeah… wild.”
Ye Nanning pulled out a hair tie and quickly tied a high ponytail, taming the wildness.
Du Xiran eyed her elegant neck and said,
“I meant the business trips. Sometimes people treat you like royalty ‘President Du, President Du’ and sometimes like a clingy bootlicker they can’t wait to dismiss.”
Ye Nanning fell silent and looked at her.
“But you’re incredible.”
“I know,” Du Xiran smirked. “I’m asking if you feel the gap.”
Ye Nanning pressed her lips together.
“When you all first enter the workforce, don’t you imagine yourselves dominating the workplace? Don’t you think our industry looks glamorous something others would envy?”
Du Xiran looked at the crowds passing by outside.
“No,” Ye Nanning said.
“Why not?”
“I don’t think anyone would envy us.”
Ye Nanning lowered her head, fidgeting with her fingers.
“No job isn’t hard. Everyone struggles. People who seem enviable are just showing the good parts. No one flaunts the pain behind their success.”
Du Xiran stared at her, surprised.
“Ye Nanning, you’re… more…”
Ye Nanning blinked, waiting for the rest of the sentence.
But Du Xiran said nothing.
Ye Nanning nearly scratched her own lungs dying to know. She kept sneaking glances, but Du Xiran acted like someone who’d thrown out a fishing hook and walked away, completely unconcerned about the fish struggling behind her.
At the hotel, the two entered the elevator. Closed space, just the two of them.
Ye Nanning had spent the whole ride building courage. She stared forward and poked Du Xiran’s arm.
Du Xiran: ?
“President Du, what were you going to say earlier?”
Du Xiran: “Why aren’t you looking at me while asking? I thought you didn’t want to hear it.”
Ye Nanning slowly turned her eyes toward her.
“I do.”
Du Xiran said, “You’re more mature than I expected.”
“Tha….”
Before she could finish, the elevator stopped and someone entered.
Ye Nanning instantly faced forward again, calm expression, silent.
Du Xiran: “……”
Du Xiran: “Hello? You didn’t finish your thank-you.”
“Thank you,” Ye Nanning said without looking.
When they stepped out, Ye Nanning felt Du Xiran was a little upset. And she wasn’t wrong how could she talk without looking at her??
Just as Du Xiran was about to swipe her room card, a hand suddenly slammed against the door beside her.
PA!
Du Xiran flinched and stared at Ye Nanning’s pose
This was unmistakably a wall-slam. A kabedon.
Then she looked at Ye Nanning’s expression
straight out of some cheap idol drama.
Cold, domineering, and restrained.
In broad daylight… what was she acting out?
“President Du.”
Ye Nanning stared straight into her eyes. Her heart was a chaotic mess, but her face held the ‘cool and aloof CEO’ act.
“What?” Du Xiran looked at her chilly expression.
“Thank you. I also think you’re better than I imagined.”
Ye Nanning blurted it out, cheering wildly in her head.
“Heh.”
Du Xiran let out a cold laugh.
Ye Nanning: ?
Du Xiran: “Next you’re going to say, ‘Be my woman,’ right?”
Ye Nanning’s pupils shook: ??
Why could she hear her deepest hidden thoughts?!
Du Xiran crossed her arms and leaned against the door.
“If I agreed, would you give me your life?”
Ye Nanning’s hand trembled where it pressed against the wall
Why… why did President Du know everything?
Did she confess last night while drunk?!
Ye Nanning stared at her in panic.
Du Xiran, amused, pushed her hand away.
“And to think I just praised you for being mature. Turns out you still like acting this nonsense. You’re just a childish kid.”
Ye Nanning: ???
