I Revealed My True Identity After Confessing My Love - Chapter 13
The restaurant wasn’t very big, but it was clean. However, with shopping malls all around and a whole food street behind it, this place was a bit hard to find.
Being able to pick this restaurant out of so many others where every dish tasted great and none were disappointing was honestly impressive.
Du Xiran silently gave “Grandpa Under the Tree” a thumbs-up in her heart and decided she would try the other restaurants recommended as well. If only there were more food recommendations.
Eating good food puts people in a good mood. Du Xiran tried every dish; the flavors were just right not too salty or bland suitable for all kinds of tastes.
“Why aren’t you eating?” Halfway through, she noticed Ye Nanning was eating slowly, only occasionally picking up a bite. “You don’t like this food?”
Ye Nanning answered softly, “I like it.”
“You’ve eaten it before then, haven’t you? And you told me you hadn’t?” Du Xiran asked.
Ye Nanning shook her head rapidly, afraid she’d be kicked out. “N-no, I haven’t.”
“Oh.” Du Xiran understood. “Are you dieting?”
It actually sounded like a decent excuse, so Ye Nanning nodded.
“You really shouldn’t diet anymore. Eat more.” Du Xiran picked up several pieces of beef and put them into her bowl. “Hurry, eat.”
Ye Nanning felt complicated, swallowing the beef with a feeling close to happiness. She touched her stomach and chanted silently: Hold on, just one more bowl of rice. These are dishes personally given by President Du! Worst case you’ll explode from overeating, but if you don’t eat, you’ll regret it forever pull yourself together!
During the meal, Du Xiran received two phone calls one business, one personal. Why personal? Because when she picked it up, Ye Nanning heard a lively girl’s voice call out sweetly, “Ranran!”
Du Xiran stood up and moved aside to take the call.
Ye Nanning was left staring blankly at the rose petals floating in the eight-treasure tea.
Ranran.
What an intimate nickname. Whose call was that? A friend? A girlfriend?
Wait, not everyone likes women like she does. President Du probably doesn’t like women!
…Wouldn’t that be even worse?
The more she thought, the more depressed she became.
“Sorry to keep you waiting.” Du Xiran returned from the call and saw Ye Nanning sitting motionless, head drooping like a wilted sunflower.
She set her phone down and casually explained, “A friend. Asking about stocks.”
Ye Nanning immediately looked up, hesitating. “Boyfriend?”
Du Xiran shook her head, sipping her tea leisurely. “Girlfriend.”
Girlfriend?!
Ye Nanning stared at her, not knowing whether to be thrilled she also liked women, or heartbroken that such perfection was already taken.
Seeing the usually expressionless face crack a little, Du Xiran couldn’t help laughing. “What are you imagining? I meant a female friend.”
“Oh…” Ye Nanning felt like she’d just gone through a roller coaster up, down, dying, reviving. She took a sip of tea.
Du Xiran was almost full. Lazily lifting her eyes, she saw Ye Nanning bowing her head to drink tea, her features softened, long eyelashes almost brushing ripples into the tea.
She’s really beautiful.
Even Du Xiran, who’d been praised for her looks since childhood, couldn’t help thinking so.
When Ye Nanning lifted her gaze, she met Du Xiran’s quiet, steady look.
Under the warm orange light, Du Xiran looked like she was under a soft filter, one hand propping her cheek, staring at her without realizing how violently this shook Ye Nanning’s heart.
Ye Nanning’s hand trembled, spilling her tea.
“You okay? Burned?” Du Xiran quickly handed her a napkin. “How are you this careless?”
“I’m fine.” Ye Nanning wiped her clothes and pretended to stay calm.
“Your parents must be good-looking,” Du Xiran mused.
Ye Nanning blinked. “Why?”
“You’re so pretty your genes must be amazing.” Du Xiran smiled.
Ye Nanning went quiet and lowered her head.
“You’ve been sipping for half a minute, but you didn’t notice your tea’s already spilled out?” Du Xiran said.
Ye Nanning: “……”
Not even giving me a way to save face, huh.
“Are you full?” Du Xiran asked with a smile.
Ye Nanning nodded.
“Then let’s go.” Du Xiran picked up her bag and headed for the front desk.
Standing a bit away, Ye Nanning secretly took a picture of her side profile and saved it to the “Light” album, satisfied. When she saw Du Xiran waving at her, she almost floated over in happiness.
“Take this,” Du Xiran handed her a □□, “You’ll need it for reimbursements.”
Ye Nanning looked down at the □□, the corners of her lips lifting.
It was her first time receiving someone else’s □□, so she studied it curiously for a long time, then even took a picture of it.
“You’ve never seen a □□?” Du Xiran asked.
“No.”
“……”
Du Xiran grew even more curious about her background. The interns said she dressed well in school, but at work she seemed frugal. What was her situation?
But she was only a supervisor, and they’d only known each other a few days. It wasn’t her place to pry, as long as the girl worked well during her internship.
“Where’s your rental near B University?” Du Xiran asked, opening navigation.
Ye Nanning panicked. “Just drop me at B University. I can walk. It’s close.”
Du Xiran didn’t ask further and as usual drove her to the university gate. After they said goodbye, Ye Nanning watched her car leave, then turned toward her apartment.
Right when she reached the building entrance, she froze.
President Du had deliberately driven her home!
The gym must be near President Du’s home. She’d taken a huge detour just to drop her off!
Ye Nanning bounced twice on the spot, humming while entering the elevator. When she met a little kid inside, she instantly returned to expressionless mode.
A moment later, soft humming started again in the small elevator.

Once home, Ye Nanning washed up, lay on the bed, and checked her phone. She had a message from a fan on Weibo.
Dududu:
(message content)
Ye Nanning didn’t know which place she meant, so she just sent back a cute sticker. Then several more.
Dududu:
(more messages)
Finding someone to confide in, Ye Nanning hurriedly typed:
Dududu: 「Is it that girl you keep tweeting about? Did you confess?」
Grandpa Under the Tree: 「Not yet, but because of some things, we’ve met now.」
Dududu: 「That’s great! Congrats, one step closer to love.」
Grandpa Under the Tree: 「She’s so nice. I really like her. Shy-pretty-girl.jpg」
Dududu: 「Really? What kind of person could make you like her this much?」
Grandpa Under the Tree: 「Super pretty! Super nice! Super amazing at work! A super perfect person!」
Du Xiran burst out laughing.
“What are you laughing at?” Zhang Mishuang walked over with coffee and sat beside her. “I waited outside your apartment so long, and the moment you get home you’re glued to your phone. Who are you flirting with? Hmph! New love smiling, old friend crying.”
“Don’t be disgusting.” Du Xiran rolled her eyes and showed her the phone. “A blogger I follow is showing off their crush.”
Zhang Mishuang leaned over. “For a second I thought she was talking about you.”
Du Xiran laughed. “We don’t even know each other. How could it be me? Your imagination is too wild.”
Zhang said, “Of course it’s not you. Since when are you super pretty? And your personality? Super nice? Please you’re grumpy as hell.”
Du Xiran smirked and took her coffee. “Get out.”
“There! Look! She’s mad because it’s true!” Zhang laughed loudly. “No way that girl was describing you.”
Du Xiran hadn’t thought much of it at first, but Zhang’s teasing irked her. She huffed. “Even if she wasn’t talking about me, she must’ve been talking about someone as perfect as me.”
