I Just Want to be a Throwaway Character - Chapter 33
Chapter 33: The Unwilling Bride
The relationship between the Demon Realm and the cultivation world grew tenser. Finally, both armies gathered at the border. On this day, Ji Wan was dressed in a crimson wedding dress. She sat in a sedan chair heading for the Demon Beast Realm, with her father watching her go.
The expensive, large red dress was adorned with jewels. The elegant and luxurious embroidery was carefully stitched with golden thread by master embroiderers. Her black hair was styled in an elegant updo, with tassels and hairpins swaying. Her lips were naturally a vibrant red. With her delicate makeup, Ji Wan looked like a fairy who had fallen to the mortal world.
But under the red wedding veil, Ji Wan’s tears flowed uncontrollably. There was no joy to be found on her wedding day. She clenched her hands tightly, trying to suppress her sobs. She had promised her father she would live a good life in the Demon Beast Realm. Even though she knew what her father was about to face, she couldn’t change the plot.
System 111 wanted to comfort her, but it didn’t know how. “Host, don’t be sad. The Demon Lord is a data set and still has a chance to be reborn.”
“I know, but I’m still so sad,” Ji Wan said, wiping away her tears, but they wouldn’t stop.
“Host, if you really don’t want to face this, we can abandon the mission. But the difficulty of our next mission will be greatly increased,” System 111 said.
“No. This mission was bought with my father’s sacrifice. I have to complete it.” With that, Ji Wan fell silent, unwilling to say anything more.
…
A Father’s Final Act
Meanwhile, at the border wall of the Demon Realm, the Demon Lord stood on the ramparts, looking at Lin Morou on the opposite side. This person had grown so powerful that the Demon Lord felt threatened.
Dressed in white, her beautiful face was distant and cold. She held a high-grade spiritual sword and stared at the Demon Lord, her eyes empty of emotion. The cultivation world had a much larger army, making the Demon Realm feel pressured. As the enemies drew closer, the Demon Lord looked in the direction Ji Wan had gone, a faint smile on his face.
Lin Morou felt something was wrong. Her divine sense had just swept over the Demon Realm, and she couldn’t sense Ji Wan. The Demon City’s gate was being pushed open, yet the Demon Lord had still not attacked. He was stalling.
Lin Morou appeared in front of the Demon Lord, wasting no words. “Where is she?”
“Heh, you don’t deserve to know,” the Demon Lord sneered, slamming a palm toward Lin Morou. The fierce palm wind carried a dark aura and a terrifying pressure that suppressed many demons and cultivators. Lin Morou easily deflected the attack. Her face remained calm and showed no strain. Over the past two years, her temperament had taught her not to let her emotions show. She looked at the Demon Lord expressionlessly. “You’re her father. I won’t kill you.” This was a compromise Lin Morou was willing to make. For Ji Wan, she decided to abandon her revenge.
“Heh, you’re quite devoted to my daughter. But it’s too late.” The Demon Lord sneered and continued to attack. Lin Morou’s expression didn’t change as she dodged the attacks.
“I found out the truth about what happened back then. I’m sorry for what my family did.”
“Heh, do you really think that family was your parents?” The Demon Lord said nothing more and unleashed his demonic power at Lin Morou.
“What do you mean?” A red light flashed in Lin Morou’s eyes.
The two were locked in a fierce battle. The cultivators and demons retreated to give them room. cultivators at the Grand Ascension stage were nearly gods. Their battle had a very wide range of impact. Feeling his demonic power on the verge of losing control, the Demon Lord was caught off guard and was hit by Lin Morou’s palm. Knowing his time was running out, he stopped attacking. The two stood in a stalemate in the air.
“I can let you win, but I hope you will agree to my three conditions,” the Demon Lord said, wiping the blood from his lips.
Lin Morou didn’t answer, but she nodded, motioning for him to continue.
“I have three conditions:
- The Demon Realm and your cultivation world must be treated as equals, allowing for specific exchanges to provide for the daily needs of the demon people.
- The ten great demon generals can serve you for one hundred years. We promise not to allow demons to venture into the cultivation world, but you must promise not to harm the demon people.
- My daughter is on her way to be married. I hope you will not disturb her future life.”
Lin Morou’s expression remained unchanged for the first two conditions. But at the last one, her eyes darkened. Ji Wan dared to get married? Lin Morou’s face turned as cold as ice.
The Demon Lord didn’t seem to notice. He felt his demonic power raging out of control. Restraining himself, he coughed up his demon core and gave it to Lin Morou. “After I die, give this to Wanwan.” After saying this, the Demon Lord attacked his own life force. He felt his life slowly fading, and his eyes looked toward the sky with a sense of relief. In the end, he turned into dust and scattered into the air.
The battle in the sky was over. The cultivators saw Lin Morou descend, and the Demon Lord was nowhere to be found. They cheered happily, about to charge at the demons to finish them off. But Lin Morou stopped them. “Retreat,” she said calmly. Her Grand Ascension stage pressure made her voice heard clearly. Even though they found it strange, their leader had given the order. They had to obey.
They had arrived with a great show of force, but they left in silence. The demon generals already knew the Demon Lord’s plan and remained calm. Even the most carefree among them were silent. Their king had fallen.
Lin Morou felt no joy of victory. Her mind was filled with the Demon Lord’s last words: “She is getting married.” She would have agreed to any other condition, but when it came to Ji Wan, she would not. Nameless anger burned inside her, and Lin Morou instantly vanished.
Ji Wan in the sedan chair felt a sense of unease and a slight pang of pain in her heart. The little fox had transformed back into her original form and was sleeping on her lap. She was innocent and had no idea what was happening. Ji Wan chuckled and gently stroked her little head.
Just as they were about to enter the Demon Beast Realm, a sudden sound of fighting came from outside, and the sedan chair was forced to stop. Ji Wan thought it was just some minor trouble, so she stayed in the sedan, waiting. Soon, the sounds stopped, and Ji Wan found it strange. It was too quiet outside. She took off her veil. She put the sleeping little fox on the side and was about to lift the curtain to see what was happening. But before her hand could touch the curtain, a light burst into her eyes. Lin Morou’s icy gaze locked onto hers.
Ji Wan was stunned. When she realized who it was, she took a step back in fear. Why is Lin Morou here?
Lin Morou said nothing. She grabbed Ji Wan’s wrist and looked at her, a cold smile on her face. “Ji Wan, you’ve really done it.”
The little fox woke up groggily, seeing Lin Morou holding Ji Wan’s hand with a dangerous look in her eyes. She was a little confused; she remembered this person liking Ji Wan a lot. Why was she looking so fierce? Was she bullying her sister, Wanwan? This cannot be tolerated.
Controlling her instinctive fear of a powerful being, the little fox transformed into her human form. She looked at Lin Morou with a child-like defiance. “Let go of my sister, Wanwan! You can’t bully my future wife.”
“Heh, your wife?” Lin Morou’s face darkened even more. Ji Wan looked at Lin Morou’s dark eyes in fear, unable to guess what she was thinking.
“Ji Wan, do you think you can escape now?” Lin Morou said coldly. She glanced at the little fox with disdain. “She’s mine now. Don’t even think about her.”
“Lin Morou, let me go.” Perhaps Lin Morou’s expression was too dangerous, making Ji Wan feel threatened. She tried to break free. The little fox also jumped over and hugged Ji Wan’s waist. “Let go of my sister, Wanwan!”
Lin Morou’s eyes turned cold on Ji Wu Shuang. “Do you want to die?”
“Lin Morou, stop! Don’t touch the little fox,” Ji Wan said, protecting her. She didn’t dare to look Lin Morou in the eye. The coldness made her uncomfortable.
Lin Morou looked at Ji Wan with a dark gaze and said nothing. Then, she unleashed her Grand Ascension stage cultivation. This not only made the little fox suffer but also caused Ji Wan to pass out from the intense spiritual energy.
Lin Morou held Ji Wan in her arms, looking at the annoying wedding dress she was wearing. She was going to marry someone else, not me. Lin Morou’s eyes grew darker, filled with a deep-seated obsession and madness.
The little fox was completely terrified now. She knew this person. She was Wanwan’s junior sister, and she liked her. Wanwan seemed to like her, too. Was she the one who was supposed to marry Wanwan? Watching Lin Morou carry Ji Wan away, the little fox was confused. She wasn’t angry about the bride-stealing. She wasn’t worried about Ji Wan at all, because she knew this person. She’ll be fine.
“It’s just a shame I’m going to miss the wedding banquet,” the little fox thought with regret.
…
The Caged Bird
The room was dim, with no light. Through the red curtains, a young woman lay peacefully on a large, soft, exquisite wooden bed. The annoying wedding dress was gone. Instead, she was dressed in a thin, white gauze robe that covered her slender body. Through the sheer fabric, one could faintly see her flawless, snow-white skin. Her shoulder-length hair was spread out across her chest, covering the beautiful view. The thin veil revealed just enough to be tempting.
The most eye-catching thing was the chain on her slender wrist. A thin, long black iron chain. One end was on the girl’s wrist, and the other was tightly locked to the headboard. The girl’s eyelashes trembled slightly.
“Mmm,” Ji Wan groaned, slowly waking up and looking at the dark room. She struggled to sit up, but the chain rattled. In the darkness, Ji Wan felt the cold touch on her hand. She followed it with her hand and found the iron chain. Ji Wan’s moist eyes stared blankly. She tried to see her surroundings, but it was pitch black.
A gust of wind came from somewhere, and Ji Wan felt a chill on her body. She touched herself and was shocked. Her face flushed. What am I wearing? The feel of the thin gauze reminded Ji Wan that she was practically naked! The gauze only went to her hips. Ji Wan curled into a ball, her face burning.
Lin Morou, that beast! How could she… how could she make me wear this?! Shameless, lewd, perverse! Ji Wan cursed in her heart. What made her even more helpless was the chain on her wrist. It prevented her from leaving the bed. And there was nothing on the bed to cover her. This meant if anyone came in, she was finished. For some reason, a song popped into Ji Wan’s head. “Oh, iron doors, iron windows, iron chains…”
Suddenly, a sound came from outside the door. Ji Wan tensed up instantly. She quickly curled up into the innermost corner of the bed. In this state, I can’t be seen by anyone!
