I Just Want to be a Throwaway Character - Chapter 30
Chapter 30: A Desperate Pleading
Lin Morou watched the trembling figure on the bed with a chilling stare. She gently wiped the blood from her lips and stood up, moving toward Ji Wan once more.
“Lin Morou, you’ve crossed the line! I’m your senior sister, we can’t do this!” Ji Wan cried out, her voice hoarse and broken from crying, trying to sound authoritative.
But Lin Morou didn’t react, remaining silent as she walked toward her. Ji Wan pulled the blanket tighter, scooting backward, but she was already at the very edge of the bed with nowhere left to go. She was like a fish on a chopping block, completely at her mercy.
I have to escape now with my Golden Core cultivation. I’ll go to Master; Lin Morou wouldn’t dare be so reckless in front of her. Ji Wan, finding a glimmer of hope, quickly looked for an opportunity to run. But Lin Morou had already set up a barrier the moment she carried her into the room. Ji Wan had no chance of escaping. She was a golden canary in a cage, unable to fly away even with wings.
Watching Lin Morou get closer, Ji Wan suddenly unleashed her spiritual energy and bolted toward the door. But before she could reach the edge of the bed, she was caught in Lin Morou’s embrace. Lin Morou’s Nascent Soul cultivation instantly suppressed her.
But she was only supposed to reach Nascent Soul in ten years! That’s still two years away! Ji Wan felt a wave of despair. She was no match for Lin Morou. Someone who could instantly kill a Tribulation-stage demon could easily crush her. Feeling her cultivation suppressed and helpless, Ji Wan felt like crying. Am I really going to be finished tonight?
Lin Morou playfully looked at the small, panicking figure in her arms. She gently kissed Ji Wan’s earlobe. “Run. Why aren’t you running anymore?” Her voice was seductive and wicked, filled with a cruel amusement.
Seeing the last piece of fabric about to come undone, Ji Wan was on the verge of tears. She was completely desperate. Lin Morou deliberately slowed down, savoring Ji Wan’s embarrassed and pitiful expression. If it were so easy to get her, why would she have waited until someone else had almost gotten to her first? She would find the person in Ji Wan’s heart one day and kill them. A flash of ruthlessness appeared in Lin Morou’s eyes.
“W-w-w Lin… Lin Morou, we… we can’t do this. This is wrong,” Ji Wan tried to reason with her, her voice shaking with sobs. She pushed at Lin Morou’s chest with her hands, but she had no power to stop her. She was just a useless, pitiful cat.
Lin Morou didn’t speak. She just stared at Ji Wan with a deep, dark gaze.
“Lin… Lin Morou, you can’t,” Ji Wan said, trying to cover her soft body, looking at Lin Morou’s wolf-like, predatory eyes.
“Oh? I can’t do what? I can’t touch you? I can’t kiss you? Or I can’t have you?” Lin Morou’s hands roamed freely, and her lips found Ji Wan’s earlobe. The last sentence was whispered against her skin, making Ji Wan cry again in fear. Her body trembled uncontrollably, and tears streamed down her face.
Lin Morou had had her fun. She picked up the blanket beside her and gently draped it over Ji Wan. In a good mood, she pulled the tear-streaked girl into her arms and gently kissed her red eyes. She softly patted Ji Wan’s back, soothing the terrified girl. “There, there. Don’t cry. You look like a little calico cat.” Lin Morou chuckled.
Ji Wan’s terrified expression turned to shock. Sensing that Lin Morou had no intention of continuing, the tension in her body finally eased. Ji Wan obediently didn’t resist. It was useless anyway. As her nerves relaxed, sleepiness came over her. Still, she remained vigilant, not daring to move, holding on to the blanket tightly as if protecting herself from a beast.
“Good girl, sleep. I won’t do anything else,” Lin Morou said, gently wiping away Ji Wan’s tears with her thumb.
In truth, her sanity had returned when she was knocked to the floor. But she didn’t want to miss the rare chance to torment Ji Wan a little. She knew that if she had gone all the way, Ji Wan would never forgive her. As much as she wanted to see Ji Wan cry, beg, and then find pleasure in her arms, Lin Morou held herself back. It wasn’t time yet. She would wait until everything was over to truly possess her. She still had her family’s revenge to take. Before, her path was for revenge, for defeating the demons, and for the peace of the world. But now, she would do it for this pitiful little cat in her arms, to build a future for them both.
Lin Morou gently stroked Ji Wan’s back. She felt Ji Wan’s breathing even out as she fell asleep in her arms. Feeling the softness through the thin fabric, Lin Morou controlled her rapid breathing and gently lifted Ji Wan, laying her flat on the bed. Suddenly, Lin Morou noticed that the blanket Ji Wan was using looked very familiar. She couldn’t help but smile. She bent down and embraced Ji Wan, gently kissing her forehead.
“Little liar.”
…
Lost at the Lake
Under the pale moonlight, the gentle breeze rippled across the lake. Fish swam freely under the cover of moonlight, playing on the surface with the quiet girl on the shore. The lake was beautiful, but the person in the landscape was feeling anything but peaceful. Ji Wan sat on a rock by the lake, dipping her slender, white legs into the cool summer water.
She couldn’t calm her chaotic heart. Lin Morou’s cold and gentle eyes kept replaying in her mind. Ji Wan’s face flushed as she lightly touched her own lips.
What am I thinking?! She’s my mission target! She’s the female lead! The kind that kills!
Ji Wan angrily picked up a few stones and threw them into the peaceful lake, creating a series of ripples, just like the ones in her heart. I’m only here for the mission. I shouldn’t be getting tangled up with Lin Morou! And Lin Morou is someone I watched grow up! I can’t! Besides, even though she didn’t remember, maybe she had loved someone very much in the past. This vague sense of betrayal made Ji Wan incredibly frustrated. Why would Lin Morou like me?
The gentle summer breeze stirred the hair on her forehead, bringing a cool sensation, but it couldn’t cool the blush on her cheeks. Ji Wan forced herself to calm down.
What she didn’t know was that a ghostly black figure had appeared not far from her. He made no sudden moves; his presence was almost cautious. Ji Wan, as if sensing something, turned her head to look, but she saw nothing in the limited moonlight. Worried that there might be something sinister, she decided to head back.
“What are you doing?” a low, male voice asked.
Ji Wan jumped in surprise and looked to her side. At some point, a man in a black robe had sat down next to her. His face was handsome and dignified, and his entire being exuded the presence of a person of high rank. He looked young, around thirty, but his eyes held the weary wisdom of someone who had seen too much. He looked at Ji Wan with a tender gaze, and a slight, almost imperceptible hint of excitement.
“Who are you? Why are you here? I don’t know you.” Ji Wan warily moved away from the man. He had no spiritual energy and didn’t seem special at all, but she just felt a strange, unsettling presence. Her demonic blood began to stir again.
“Don’t be scared. I’m not a bad person,” the man said carefully, keeping his voice gentle. The last time he had been this gentle was more than twenty years ago. Looking at the face so similar to the one in his memories, the man’s eyes were filled with nostalgia and complex emotions.
A strange sense of familiarity from her bloodline made Ji Wan’s eyes widen. Could this man be the villainous boss? My cheap father?
“Great host, the person in front of you is the Heavenly Demon Lord, Ba Ying. The real one, not a clone,” System 111 answered Ji Wan’s question.
“Why do you think he’s here?” Ji Wan asked the system.
“Great host, he probably wants to take you back to the Demon Realm. Since you’ve completed the mission of making the female lead the army’s commander, you can choose to go back to the Demon Realm for now to stay safe,” System 111 suggested.
Ji Wan didn’t reply to the system. She watched her “father” tentatively reach out to touch her face. The familial bond in her blood made her lower her guard. The fact that his daughter wasn’t resisting made him excited. His eyes welled up.
“Little 1, wasn’t he supposed to be cruel in the book? He looks like he’s been replaced.” Ji Wan asked, confused.
“Uh, great host, the original book seems to be unfinished. It only updated to the point where the original host was killed and the female lead began to gather her army. As for the Demon Lord, he hadn’t even appeared in the plot yet. He was just mentioned as the main villain who killed the female lead’s family,” System 111 said. It was surprised at what it found. Would its host be mad that it gave her an unfinished book?
But Ji Wan wasn’t angry with System 111. Her role was just a small boss in the early plot. She should have already died by the female lead’s sword and had no part in the later story. But now that she was alive, the unknown plot had begun.
This was a big family reunion scene. Although Ji Wan already knew, the strange joy in her body at finding a relative made her eyes red. She had been an orphan, and she thought she would be an orphan in this world, too. But the familial connection was so strong she couldn’t stop her tears.
“D-don’t cry,” the Demon Lord said. As a grown man, he had no idea how to comfort his “daughter,” especially one who was already grown. He nervously pulled out things he thought a little girl would like. Ji Wan looked at the small mountain of strange weapons, elixirs, and precious treasures in front of her and couldn’t help but burst into laughter. The Demon Lord scratched his head, relieved that his daughter was finally laughing. He tried to smile back, but his rigid smile looked a little twisted, making Ji Wan laugh even harder.
“Wanwan, come back to the Demon Realm with me,” the Demon Lord said to Ji Wan. But as soon as she saw Ji Wan’s smile, he froze, about to say something.
“What are you two doing!” a sharp voice questioned.
Lin Morou had been watching Ji Wan get close to a strange man from a distance, and a nameless rage welled up inside her. Lin Morou quickly moved, pulling Ji Wan behind her and blocking the man in black. Her eyes were cold and filled with hostility. Seeing Ji Wan with another man in the dark, Lin Morou’s jealousy flared.
Ji Wan didn’t have time to react; Lin Morou was too fast. Her strength was becoming incomprehensible.
“Let her go,” the Demon Lord said. Unlike his tenderness toward Ji Wan, his face was cold when he looked at someone else. When Lin Morou saw his face in the moonlight, her deep-seated hatred from her memory surged back. It’s him. Her spiritual sword appeared in her hand, and her eyes were filled with hatred. Without thinking, she charged at the man with her sword, completely losing her mind.
“This is bad,” Ji Wan thought. But it was too late. Lin Morou had already attacked.
The Demon Lord sneered. “You overestimate yourself.” He easily blocked Lin Morou’s strike with a single hand. But Lin Morou didn’t stop. A golden light erupted from her, and she attacked him again. The Demon Lord stopped holding back. A dark, suffocating energy surrounded him.
Ji Wan was powerless to stop the two of them. The situation quickly spiraled into chaos. Two figures, one light and one dark, tangled in the sky. The sharp swords were as fast as light.
The commotion in the back of the mountain quickly caught Du Gu’nuo’s attention. She was lying languidly on her couch, her face flushed with wine. She quickly pushed Ye Ning’s approaching lips away. She got up, adjusting her disheveled clothes in a panic. “This is bad,” she said, before rushing toward the back mountain. For some reason, her back looked relieved.
Ye Ning’s mood was soured, and her face darkened. But she understood the seriousness of the situation. Getting Du Gu’nuo could wait for another day; she would let her go for now. She quickly summoned her sword and followed Du Gu’nuo to the source of the spiritual energy.
By the time they arrived, the battle had already ended. Lin Morou was no match for the Demon Lord. With a single wave of his hand, the Demon Lord sent her flying. She landed heavily on the grass beside the lake, spitting out a mouthful of blood and unable to move.
The Demon Lord looked at her with indifference, raising his hand to finish off the insolent girl.
“Father, no!” Seeing that things were about to spiral out of control, Ji Wan cried out in a panic, trying to stop him.
