I Just Want to be a Throwaway Character - Chapter 3
Chapter 3: World One
Gu Nianqing didn’t notice Ji Wan at first. While she was diligently reading, a sigh of contentment reached her ears.
The subtle, fragmented sound made her heart itch.
She turned her head and saw the girl sleeping on a corner of the sofa.
Tiny specks of light scattered over her glossy black hair, inch by inch, and illuminated her snowy white skin.
Gu Nianqing knew it was Ji Wan; after all, she had been pestering her for a year and was quite familiar with her.
She should have turned away in disgust or simply changed seats to avoid seeing her, but her gaze was uncontrollably fixed on the girl.
Lin Luo was nowhere to be found, and at this moment, it was just her and Ji Wan in this corner of the library.
The girl was sleeping softly, her hands instinctively forming fists and resting beside her face.
With each gentle rise and fall of her breath in her sleep, her body’s unique curves of adolescence were gently accentuated.
A look of contentment was on her face as she slept, like a sleepy cat, so adorable that it made one want to hold and play with her.
Gu Nianqing’s breathing hitched. What was she doing? She was looking at this annoying person.
She reached up and rubbed her forehead in annoyance, turning her eyes away.
It must be because this woman’s behavior is so abnormal today.
Gu Nianqing, feeling a bit of shame and irritation, packed up her books and left.
“This is the woman’s new tactic. I can’t fall for it,” she thought to herself.
She quickly walked out of the library, almost as if she were fleeing in a panic.
…
After a good rest, Ji Wan returned to class.
She was mentally calculating her mission plan. As much as she wanted to have fun, she still had to figure out how to complete the simp task.
“Ugh, my head hurts, this is so annoying.” Ji Wan flopped onto her desk. She frustratingly ran her hands through her smooth, dark hair twisting it repeatedly.
Looking at the person in front of her with her hair all a mess, Gu Nianqing found it a little cute for some reason, but she quickly shook her head.
This woman is using all sorts of schemes to get close to me. It’s nothing more than a feigned indifference to capture my interest.
She quickly refocused on the book in her hand. She shouldn’t fall for this woman’s tricks.
“Little 1, give me some advice. What do simps usually do?” Ji Wan decided to give up on thinking and called System 111 directly.
“Host, you finally remembered the mission!” System 111 was so excited that its electronic voice even rippled. It wanted to jump for joy, but unfortunately, it didn’t have legs.
The following are the original owner’s simp behaviors:
- Deliberately running into the protagonist at her doorstep every day.
- Finding an opportunity to hug the protagonist around a corner (never succeeded).
- Asking to have lunch together every day (the protagonist never agreed).
- Following the protagonist around campus.
- Secretly writing love letters to the protagonist every day.
…
“Wait, isn’t this a little… perverted?”
Ji Wan felt an even bigger headache coming on. She felt that it was no wonder her family would go bankrupt out of the four great families; it was probably deserved.
Ji Wan felt her life turning gray. She lay limply on her desk, the sound of the Chinese teacher’s classical poetry recitation in class sounding like a death knell.
“Ji Wan, what is this poem about? You answer.”
The strict Chinese teacher and class head, Yan, noticed that Ji Wan was zoning out. When a silent gesture with her eyes didn’t work, she called out.
The teachers at this aristocratic school were all poached from top schools with high salaries. They were all capable teachers and naturally couldn’t stand students zoning out. Especially since the parents of these elite successors had requested that she “discipline” them well.
At this moment, Ji Wan was still complaining to System 111 about the original owner’s perverted actions.
As a result, she didn’t hear who the teacher was calling at all.
She thought it had nothing to do with her, so she remained in a state of blank-faced zoning out, chatting with System 111 about whatever came to mind about the mission.
The teacher’s face grew darker and darker.
“JI WAN!!! Stand up.”
The Chinese teacher, holding back her anger, raised her voice and called out.
Due to the fear of being dominated during her school days, Ji Wan reflexively stood up quickly and said, “Here!”
The class burst into laughter.
The teacher gave the students a cold glance, and instantly, a deep silence fell, making the atmosphere a little eerie.
Ji Wan looked blankly at the teacher on the podium, whose face was clearly not good, and at her classmates who were holding back their laughter.
Her classmates around her looked at Ji Wan curiously, wanting to see how she would deal with the teacher’s anger.
“Little 1, save me. What did she just ask me?” Ji Wan mentally called out to System 111. A spine-chilling coldness crept up her back.
“Uh, Host. I don’t know. You’re on your own. You can do it. You’re the best. I’m going offline. Bye.”
Perhaps fearing Ji Wan’s fury, System 111 quickly went offline, and her mind became quiet.
Seeing the atmosphere in the classroom becoming more and more solidified, and the air pressure getting lower and lower.
A million alpaca-like animals were running through Ji Wan’s mind.
“I have no choice. I’ll just have to deal with it. I’ll just go for it.” Ji Wan thought to herself.
She looked at the classical poem on the blackboard, trying hard to recall the little high school knowledge she had.
“This poem describes an enemy army at the city gates, and the soldiers fighting for their country…”
“Mhm, sit down. Don’t zone out in class next time.” The Chinese teacher’s anger seemed to have dissipated, and she continued her lecture.
Ji Wan let out a sigh of relief as she sat down. Her body instinctively relaxed backward, just like she did back in her high school days.
But then she didn’t feel the expected contact, and her center of gravity suddenly shifted downward.
Based on her many years of experience, she knew she could be safe with just one foot hook.
But when she extended her foot, she hooked onto nothing.
“Damn, I forgot I wasn’t at my old school anymore,” Ji Wan thought right before she fell.
Then, the entire class’s attention returned to Ji Wan.
Gu Nianqing had instinctively moved her desk away the moment Ji Wan leaned back.
She saw the girl on the floor pitifully rubbing her waist, tears of physical pain welling up in her eyes and reddening the corners. Her small face was scrunched up in pain.
An inexplicable feeling of guilt crept up on her.
“Hey, are you okay?” Lin Luo, who was sitting at the table next to Ji Wan, called out and kindly reached out a hand to help her up.
Just as Gu Nianqing thought Ji Wan would reject her and turn to pester her as she always did,
Ji Wan’s voice, tinged with a hint of grievance from the pain, said, “I’m okay. Thank you, Lin Luo.”
Then she reached out and grabbed Lin Luo’s hand, giving her a bright, radiant smile.
She didn’t even spare a glance for Gu Nianqing behind her.
Gu Nianqing looked at their hands clasped together, a sight that was inexplicably unpleasant to her.
She turned her head, trying not to pay attention, but a subtle feeling of irritation began to rise in her heart.
Seeing the girl rubbing her waist pitifully in her seat, and hearing her soft whimpers of pain from time to time.
Gu Nianqing’s sense of guilt intensified.
Ji Wan gently rubbed her waist. More than the physical pain, she felt her pride hurt more.
“Waaah, this is so embarrassing.” The girl’s cheeks flushed with shame and irritation. She wanted to bury her head and act like an ostrich, but the moment she moved, it tugged at her poor little waist, making the pain worse.

Finally, school was over, and Ji Wan almost wanted to jump for joy.
Then, Aunt Zhang called and said the driver’s wife had just given birth and he needed to take an emergency leave, so there was no one to pick her up.
Ji Wan looked at the complicated roads outside the classroom window and the sky that was about to grow dark, then she felt her waist.
“Noooo, do children just pop out in your novels like that? So hopeless. Heaven wants to destroy me.”
In the time she was on the phone, her classmates had almost all left. The original owner only had eyes for the female lead, and a love-crazed person wouldn’t have any friends.
“Why isn’t there a ride-hailing service here? Are rich people so stingy that they don’t even have cars?” Ji Wan complained.
She resigned herself to her fate and dragged her wounded old waist, which felt like it was seventy or eighty years old, out of the classroom.
Then, she saw Lin Luo and Gu Nianqing walking one after the other toward the parking garage.
“Wait!” Ji Wan shouted, forgetting all about her dignity.
Gu Nianqing and Lin Luo both stopped and turned around. They saw Ji Wan walking slowly toward them, one hand on her waist.
Gu Nianqing raised an eyebrow, and disgust flashed in her eyes. “Here she comes again, this woman. Heh, I thought she had changed. I guess she couldn’t keep up the act.”
But she didn’t turn around and leave. She wanted to see what other tricks this woman had up her sleeve.
She saw Ji Wan approach, getting closer and closer to her.
Gu Nianqing instinctively took a step back, but Ji Wan didn’t look at her. She walked past her and went straight to Lin Luo.
Lin Luo had a stunned expression. “You’ve got the wrong person. I’m not Old Gu.”
Gu Nianqing also gave Ji Wan a strange look.
“I didn’t get the wrong person. Your name is Lin Luo,” Ji Wan replied, looking at the very strange Lin Luo.
“Uh, what do you want with me?” Lin Luo looked at Gu Nianqing and then back at Ji Wan, asking.
“My driver had an emergency, and I don’t have a car right now. I was hoping I could trouble you to give me a ride.”
Ji Wan clasped her hands together and pleaded, using the exact same expression she had used on Gu Nianqing that morning.
“Uh, well… okay, I guess. It’s just that Old Gu’s driver had an emergency too, so she’s coming with me,” Lin Luo replied, glancing uncomfortably at Gu Nianqing.
Oh my gosh, what a weird situation, Lin Luo thought.
But what was even more surprising was that Gu Nianqing had actually nodded in agreement!
…
On the school road, a luxurious sedan sped along.
The atmosphere inside the car was subdued, with only the sound of the tires on the pavement.
The seating arrangement inside was bizarre.
Because Ji Wan was sitting next to Gu Nianqing, while the car’s owner was sitting next to the driver.
Why was it like this? Because Lin Luo was afraid of Gu Nianqing’s germaphobia acting up and refused to sit with her.
“Are your feelings really that fragile? It’s like I’m a pathogen or something,” Ji Wan complained in her mind.
But her body was honest and scrunched up on the edge of the seat, minimizing her presence and staying as far away from Gu Nianqing as possible.
She had no choice. The person next to her could decide whether she would have a roof over her head tomorrow.
Gu Nianqing appeared calm, but the corner of her eye was constantly on guard against Ji Wan getting closer.
But when she saw Ji Wan huddled up, keeping her distance, that feeling of irritation returned.
“Heh, a feigned indifference to capture my attention,” she thought.
Meanwhile, in Ji Wan’s mind: “111, you get out here! You had the guts to run away, now come out!”
Ji Wan angrily called out to the deserter.
“Uh… Host, please… don’t be angry,” System 111 said, sounding very unsure of itself.
“Stop with the nonsense. Tell me what you can do. You can’t be completely useless, can you?” Ji Wan said, annoyed.
“Uh, I was created by the main god. My mission is…” System 111 replied.
“Shut up, you already told me that. I’m asking if you have any mission props or a ‘favorability’ detector.” Ji Wan asked the clueless system, speechless.
“Uh… my level is too low. I don’t have permission for that,” System 111 replied.
“Then what CAN you do???” If System 111 had a human form, she’d beat it up. Since it was a ball, she wanted to kick it away.
“Host, I can comfort you. I can act cute. I can…”
Then System 111 realized it had been unilaterally muted by its Host.
Wha…???
“What a scam of a system. It’s ruining my youth. A heartless main god. No way to return it.” Ji Wan complained in her mind.
Ji Wan secretly glanced at Gu Nianqing.
This woman… she wants me to be her simp?
“Ah, let the world be destroyed.” Ji Wan thought dejectedly.
Her cute little face had a miserable expression, which was quite adorable.
Suddenly, the sedan made a sharp turn, and Ji Wan was thrown uncontrollably toward Gu Nianqing.
It all happened in an instant.
Feeling the soft, fragrant body of the girl in her arms, and the fresh milky scent from her soft hair wafting into her nose, Gu Nianqing’s heart skipped a beat.
But in the next second, the girl quickly pulled away, returning to her original corner of the seat. The milky scent instantly vanished.
A soft apology came from the side, in a soft, sweet, and cute girl’s voice: “Sorry.”
Gu Nianqing’s heart instantly beat a little faster.
“Are you okay?” Lin Luo in the front seat turned around and asked, her eyes a little gossipy as she looked at Ji Wan and Gu Nianqing.
She continued, “A car suddenly appeared. It scared me.”
“I’m fine. Keep driving,” Gu Nianqing said in a cold tone. Under her calm exterior, her heart was inexplicably irritated.
“Oh no, I fell on the female lead. Will I be able to eat my food tomorrow? Ah, goodbye, my rich life. I’ll definitely wear my seatbelt properly next time.”
Crying torrentially.gif
Ji Wan felt inexplicably nervous and scared, and she wanted to flee the scene as quickly as possible.
