I Just Want to be a Throwaway Character - Chapter 2
Chapter 2: World One
“Are you kidding? The villa is only 300 meters from the school. Why bother? Walking is healthier.”
Then, Ji Wan realized how naive she was.
The rows of luxury cars at the gate didn’t stop on the side of the road; they all drove straight in.
Ji Wan’s mind suddenly had a jolt.
“Shoot.”
“Ah, I miscalculated. I forgot how huge this aristocratic school’s campus is.”
No wonder the driver looked so surprised this morning. She realized it would take her at least an hour to walk to her class.
Ji Wan was annoyed and wanted to scratch her head. She thought, “What kind of hard life is this? Why didn’t I just take the luxury car?”
“Little 1, what should I do? My little arms and legs will give out if I walk for an hour,” Ji Wan wailed to System 111.
“Host, I’ve detected that the protagonist’s car will arrive at the school gate in three minutes. Go on and play the role of the devoted dog. Go get her,” System 111 replied.
“Dammit, a man can be killed, but not humiliated! Do you think I’m a good-looking person who’d be a simp? You’ve got to be kidding me,” Ji Wan said in a fit of impotent rage.
A second later, a small, sneaky figure stood at the magnificent gate of the aristocratic academy, looking expectantly at the side of the main road.
“Host, didn’t you say a man can be killed but not humiliated? What are you doing?” System 111 said, speechless.
“Ahem… a beautiful girl’s business is none of yours. I’m sacrificing myself for the mission. Hurry up and tell me what the protagonist’s family car looks like,” Ji Wan’s face reddened slightly.
The system has detected that the protagonist’s family car will arrive at the school gate in one minute. The black, extended-version Rolls-Royce in front is the protagonist’s private vehicle.
Before long, a luxurious sedan stopped at the aristocratic school’s gate, waiting for the traffic light.
Ji Wan seized the opportunity and went up to knock on the black car window. Soon, the window rolled down.
The protagonist’s stunningly beautiful face was gradually revealed. A cascade of beautiful black hair flowed down. She had heroic eyebrows, a pair of deep, soul-stirring eyes, a straight nose, and a flawless, exquisite face.
Her thin lips were pursed. Her skin, like snowy jade, was as clear as ice and snow. The form-fitting dark blue school uniform highlighted her graceful and slender figure and her pure, exceptional temperament.
It was as if a fairy from the heavens had descended.
For a moment, Ji Wan forgot to speak, completely dazed.
Her mind was unceremoniously filled with endless comments: “Holy crap, what kind of celestial beauty is this? My soul is flying out of my body.”
Gu Nianqing cast a cold glance at Ji Wan, her tone icy: “What do you want?”
A deep-seated disgust was buried in her eyes.
“My driver suddenly had a stomachache, and I don’t have a ride. I happened to see your car. Could you give me a lift? I’ll be very quiet and won’t bother you,” Ji Wan said with her hands clasped together, her tone sincere.
She looked pitiful, like a little puppy that had made a mistake and was begging its owner for forgiveness.
Inside her mind, she was frantically complaining: “Her eyes are so cold, Little 1. I’m a little scared. She’s like a block of ice. Am I going to freeze to death?”
As an orphan, Ji Wan had been good at observing the expressions of adults since she was a child. Even though Gu Nianqing’s disgust was deeply hidden, Ji Wan still caught it.
What kind of moronic things did the original owner do? This is giving me a headache.
“Host, you can do it! You’re the best!” System 111 cheered.
“Heh, how many times a month do you get a headache or get sick? How many times do you ‘happen to run into’ me? How many times do you throw yourself on me? Do you think I’ll believe you?” Gu Nianqing raised an eyebrow in disdain, her tone full of deep disgust.
“Damn, what a dog of a woman. Is it that great to be pretty?”
Ji Wan complained internally, but on the surface, she looked pathetic: “Really, I’m not lying. Just this once, today.”
Perhaps Ji Wan’s expression was successful, or perhaps Gu Nianqing was afraid of being stuck at the school gate for too long, so she reluctantly agreed to let Ji Wan into the car.
However, Ji Wan couldn’t sit next to her.
So, Ji Wan pitifully sat in the front with the driver, staying completely silent the whole way.
Of course she did. In this icy cold environment, who would be in the mood to chat with that large block of ice?
As soon as the car arrived, Ji Wan thanked her and quickly got out, not pestering her at all.
This time, it was Gu Nianqing who was surprised. This woman would usually come up with all sorts of excuses to stick to her side. Has she changed her ways today?
But she didn’t think too much about it. There was no need to waste energy on insignificant people.
Ji Wan quickly arrived at the original owner’s class and took her seat, which was also Gu Nianqing’s class.
This class was the school’s elite noble class. Only the children of the four great families and a few noble scions could enter. The threshold was extremely high. They received training to become corporate successors, with a focus on various arts, comprehensive qualities, and a series of other skills.
Even the love-crazed original owner had knowledge that surpassed that of most other noble scions.
According to her memories, Gu Nianqing’s true love wouldn’t be enrolling for another three months, and it was now the second semester of their second year of high school.
So I have three months to play the part of the protagonist’s simp and then find a way to frame the protagonist’s true love, and I’ll be all set.
Thinking about being able to live a life of leisure for several years, Ji Wan couldn’t help but smile foolishly.
As soon as Gu Nianqing entered the classroom, she saw Ji Wan smiling foolishly and felt a chill run down her spine.
With a look of disgust, she passed Ji Wan and took her seat in the back, picking up her textbook to review.
The sunlight streamed through the window, dappling the beautiful side of the girl’s face. Her long, well-defined fingers held a pen, meticulously writing out calculations on a piece of scratch paper.
When Ji Wan turned her head, she was met with this pleasing sight, like a goddess from an ancient painting, her every muscle and feature a study in perfect beauty.
She was shamelessly blushing. Before Gu Nianqing could look her way, she quickly turned her head to look at the English or Chinese textbook she was holding.
“Little 1, I think I’m starting to understand why the original owner was such a simp. Even a great beauty like me wants to be one.” Ji Wan whispered to System 111 in her mind.
“Host, your mission is to act as the protagonist’s simp. Please go forth and show off your simping skills to the fullest,” System 111 said.
“That’s all well and good, but she dislikes me so much. If I just go up to her, I’ll even disgust myself,” Ji Wan said, propping her hand on her desk and resting her chin on it.
“Host, 10 million. Go, go, go!!!” After understanding her Host’s bottom line, System 111 went straight to the point.
“That’s no fun. You need to give me an advance. If I go up there and embarrass myself now, I’ll be bankrupt tomorrow. What am I supposed to eat then?”
Ji Wan ignored the system. She thought about the future, where the protagonist would have a mountain of wealth and a little sweetheart to warm her bed.
Tears of envy streamed from the corners of her mouth.
“Uh, Host. Actually, you can embarrass yourself while still keeping your family’s fortune. It’s just very difficult,” System 111 said nervously in Ji Wan’s mind, trying to stir up her fighting spirit.
“So you’re saying the script doesn’t necessarily have to be followed? As long as the mission is completed, that’s what matters. Interesting,” Ji Wan said, playfully rubbing her chin, her eyes flashing with an unreadable thought.
The morning passed just like that. Gu Nianqing tidied her books, her eyes glancing at Ji Wan.
This woman hadn’t looked at her once today. She hadn’t asked to borrow things in class, hadn’t asked questions, and hadn’t pestered her to eat together.
“Nianqing, what are you thinking? Let’s go eat,” said Lin Luo, the second daughter of the Lin family, one of the four great families.
She was one of Gu Nianqing’s few friends, a warm, cheerful, and energetic person.
Lin Luo saw Ji Wan pack her books and then just walk out. She felt a sense of wonder and turned to grab Gu Nianqing’s hand. “Nianqing, quickly, feel my head. I don’t have a fever, do I? My eyes aren’t playing tricks on me, are they? That Miss Ji didn’t bother you today. It’s a miracle.”
Gu Nianqing silently pulled her hand back, took a wet wipe out of her bag, and wiped her hand, saying coldly, “Let her be. The further away from me, the better.”
“You’re not serious. Your germaphobia is a bit too much,” Lin Luo grumbled with a pout.
“Let’s go eat,” Gu Nianqing said, giving Lin Luo a cold look.
“I really don’t know who will be so unlucky as to be liked by you one day,” Lin Luo said, catching up to Gu Nianqing, who had already left the classroom.
Meanwhile, in the center of the cafeteria hall, a table was filled with a wide variety of delicious food.
On one side of the table, a small, cute girl was eating at an elegant and refined pace, finishing a plate in less than three minutes.
Not far from the table, a large crowd of students from the aristocratic academy gathered, their eyes wide with shock as they stared at the girl’s astonishing appetite.
Ji Wan ignored them. Live for the moment. Who knows if she’ll have such good food tomorrow after offending the protagonist?
Today, Ji Wan was a “gan fan ren,” a person who eats voraciously, and no one could stop her.
When Ji Wan finally left, feeling satisfied, the noble scions behind her, as if they had never seen anything like it, went to count how many plates she had eaten.
Are you kidding me? If it weren’t for so many people watching, she would have been able to devour several more plates.
“A gan fan ren has a gan fan soul, a gan fan ren is a superior human…” Ji Wan hummed a tune as she left the cafeteria.
In just half an hour, the news had spread throughout the entire school:
“Shocking! The cute school belle Ji Wan fails at love, turns her sadness into appetite, eats 15 plates at the cafeteria.”
“Ji Wan goes crazy eating. Is this the decline of human morality or the decay of ethics…”
…
When the news reached Gu Nianqing’s ears, she paused her reading in the library.
Next to her, Lin Luo kept chattering: “That’s incredible, 15 plates. She looks so thin and small, yet she can eat so much. Do you think you could afford to feed her if she successfully won your heart? Haha…”
Finally, Lin Luo’s laughter died out under Gu Nianqing’s cold gaze. Lin Luo shivered.
That look was too intense for her to handle.
“Heh, I bet it’s just another one of her tricks to get my attention,” Gu Nianqing thought, turning her attention back to her book.
“Host, you’ve been slacking off all morning. Hurry up and act out your simp role,” System 111 urged anxiously in Ji Wan’s mind.
“Don’t worry. I’ll have energy after I’ve eaten and rested. Now that I’m full, where’s the library?” Ji Wan asked, lazily covering her mouth with her hand as she yawned.
“Host, the protagonist is in the library right now. Are you going to go for it? Go, go, go!” System 111 said excitedly. It was so touched. Its Host remembered the mission. It wanted to cry.
“Oh, no, it’s not like that. I’m just sleepy. The library is quiet, and there are sofas where I can sleep.”
Ji Wan replied to System 111 lazily and walked toward the library. System 111 became depressed. It didn’t want to deal with its Host anymore.
Walking into the library, Ji Wan once again felt the joy of capitalism.
What kind of library has a bar counter and links to a massage parlor?
Ji Wan was so sleepy. Her energy had been drained yesterday by the system and the mission, and this morning she was forced to receive a noble education. All she wanted to do now was sleep.
Seeing a hidden sofa in a corner, Ji Wan walked straight to it and threw herself on it.
It’s so soft. It really is the joy of capitalism.
This thought flashed through Ji Wan’s mind before she fell asleep.
What Ji Wan didn’t know was that her position was directly below and at an angle from Gu Nianqing’s seat.
Gu Nianqing could turn her head and see her clearly from above.
