I Just Want to be a Throwaway Character - Chapter 16
Chapter 16: World’s Best
Thinking back to how it was inexplicably shut in a black room yesterday, only to come out and see the female lead holding its host, System 111 was still completely baffled.
What kind of bad karma did I accumulate to end up with a host who’s such a slacker?!
System 111 secretly glanced at Ji Wan’s face.
Maybe it’s her looks.
Could the female lead be a looks-obsessed person?
It was a good thing Ji Wan didn’t know what System 111 was thinking, or she’d be pulling out a knife and cursing up a storm.
In reality, Ji Wan was sitting up against the pillows, her expression cool and collected on the outside.
But on the inside, she was cackling, “I knew I was an unparalleled beauty! Hahaha…”
System 111 watched its host speechlessly and chose to go offline and sulk, while also trying to comfort itself.
It’s fine. The mission is barely complete. As long as we hold out until the female lead’s wedding, we’ll finish the mission to find true love and have a little wife.
Now, it all depends on whether the female lead’s true love is up to the task.
But… the female lead likes my host now!
System 111 looked at its host in despair, thinking, I hope our score for this first world isn’t a failing grade.
…
Click. The sound of the door opening rang out.
Ji Wan looked over at the sound.
Gu Nianqing entered, holding a bowl of white congee. She saw Ji Wan, still a bit groggy from sleep, staring blankly at her. She smiled as she walked over, set down the bowl, and gently ran her hand through Ji Wan’s hair, smoothing out the strands that were curled from sleeping.
Ji Wan’s face flushed slightly, completely charmed by Gu Nianqing’s breathtaking smile. Her heart skipped a beat, thumping like a startled fawn.
Seeing Ji Wan’s flustered expression, Gu Nianqing leaned in, brushed Ji Wan’s hair from her face, and tucked it behind her ear.
While Ji Wan was still in a daze, she lightly kissed the corner of her lips.
“Dammit, sexually harassing me in broad daylight, how shameless!” Ji Wan’s face was fiery red, and she nervously averted her eyes, fuming internally with powerless rage.
In reality, Ji Wan scrambled back on the bed, her voice soft and timid, “Y-You… don’t do that.”
“Don’t do what?” Gu Nianqing moved closer, their noses almost touching as their eyes met.
Ji Wan panicked, wanting to retreat, but her back was already against the headboard, leaving her with nowhere to go. Tears welled up in the corners of her eyes, which were now slightly red.
Seeing that she was about to make Ji Wan cry again, Gu Nianqing laughed and pulled back. She sat on the edge of the bed and picked up the bowl of congee, feeding Ji Wan one spoonful at a time.
Perhaps out of fear that Gu Nianqing would do something else, Ji Wan obediently ate, though her eyes still wouldn’t look at Gu Nianqing. She really had been frightened by Gu Nianqing’s actions last night.
Gu Nianqing watched the incredibly well-behaved Ji Wan and then took out a sheet of paper, handing it to her.
Ji Wan took it in a daze, glanced at it, and almost dropped it like a hot potato. The paper had a large, black title: Marriage Agreement. Gu Nianqing’s name was already signed on it.
“W-What… what are you giving this to me for?” Ji Wan was confused. Gu Nianqing’s marriage partner was supposed to be Weiwei, and Weiwei had even said she’d already registered their marriage, right?
“Heh, Ji Wan, are you still going to pretend you don’t understand? I’m going to marry you,” Gu Nianqing said, a slight smile on her lips as she brutally shattered Ji Wan’s last bit of hope.
“W-Well… I have to go. I… I’m leaving first,” Ji Wan tried to pretend she hadn’t heard. She slowly moved to the other side of the bed, planning her escape.
Gu Nianqing simply watched her with a calm expression as Ji Wan slowly shuffled towards the door. She watched her walk out and then silently counted down in her mind.
10, 9… 2, 1.
Ji Wan’s tearful, miserable face popped back in, looking at Gu Nianqing, who was now leaning languidly on the sofa inside the room.
Ji Wan felt hopeless. The front door was locked, and she couldn’t get out.
She obediently shuffled back and sat properly on the long sofa opposite Gu Nianqing, sitting motionless like a well-behaved elementary school student.
The prominent A4 paper on the transparent coffee table seemed to be silently mocking her.
Gu Nianqing’s posture was relaxed, but her gaze was sharp as it fell on Ji Wan.
“You have two choices. One, sign this paper, and I will transfer half of all my assets to you.”
Ji Wan’s heart inexplicably fluttered, and her eyes lit up. Half of her assets… that was very tempting.
“And two…” Gu Nianqing smiled at Ji Wan, stopping her sentence, her eyes filled with ill intent.
“What’s… what’s the second one?” Ji Wan asked, feeling a chill run down her spine.
Gu Nianqing smiled, stood up, and walked over to Ji Wan, sitting down beside her. She pulled the obedient Ji Wan into her arms. Her hand began to roam restlessly over Ji Wan’s soft waist. Her eyes were bewitching as her thumb gently grabbed Ji Wan’s stiff chin and pulled her closer.
Warm breaths wafted over Ji Wan’s face, causing her to blush. Ji Wan pushed away at the approaching Gu Nianqing, but her body went limp, unable to withstand Gu Nianqing’s provocation.
Ji Wan had a bad feeling about this.
Gu Nianqing’s smile widened. She kissed her way from Ji Wan’s cheek to the back of her ear. With a light puff of air, the girl’s earlobes turned completely red, and the hands that were pushing her away went weak, letting out a cute whimper.
“And two… you become my Omega, Ji Wan.”
The seductive voice transmitted directly to Ji Wan’s sensitive earlobe.
Gu Nianqing pressed Ji Wan down onto the soft sofa. A dominant mint scent was released.
Ji Wan trembled, softening in Gu Nianqing’s embrace, gasping weakly for air.
“Don’t, no, I… I’ll sign!”
After differentiating, Ji Wan’s entire body was incredibly sensitive. She couldn’t handle Gu Nianqing’s teasing at all, and her voice trembled as she gave in.
The worst that can happen is I’ll break off the marriage and run away later. What’s there to be afraid of? Where there’s life, there’s hope.
In the end, Ji Wan signed the marriage agreement with tears in her eyes.
Then she was forcefully taken by Gu Nianqing to get a marriage certificate…
A swift, decisive action.
This incident taught Ji Wan a lesson: never have a false sense of security.
Why can you get a marriage certificate in this world without a household registration book?!
Ji Wan’s last bit of hope was gone.
She looked at the photo on the marriage certificate. The girl’s wronged and miserable expression combined with the satisfied big bad wolf next to her seemed to create an oddly fitting match.
Ji Wan was on the verge of tears. She was now legally married to Gu Nianqing.
Gu Nianqing, in a great mood, pulled the wronged little woman into her arms and kissed her crimson lips. The satisfaction in her heart swelled, and she couldn’t suppress the smile on her face.
“Alright, my good wife. I’m going to the company this afternoon. You wait for me obediently at home.”
Gu Nianqing gently hugged Ji Wan. In her shy expression, she unbuckled her seatbelt and watched her walk towards the elevator. After seeing Ji Wan’s location on her phone confirm she was safely home, Gu Nianqing drove to her company.
…
Gu Nianqing’s Company Gossip Group Chat
Xiao Zhang: “President Gu is in a great mood today. She’s been smiling all the way. She even smiled at me. My gosh, you should’ve seen it, it was beautiful.”
Xiao Wang: “I bet she just acquired another company.”
Xiao Jiang: “I’m so jealous. I’ve been with the company for so long and have never seen her smile. I always thought she was an absolute ice queen.”
Xiao Li: “My calculations say she’s definitely in a relationship.”
Xiao Lin: “Me too. I just walked past her, and I saw her smiling at a picture on her phone.”
…
Inside Ji Wan’s apartment.
Even though Gu Nianqing had registered Ji Wan’s fingerprint to her own apartment door, Ji Wan still went back to her own place. She fell face-first onto her soft bed, feeling depressed.
She pulled out the red marriage book, looked at the photo again, and seeing Gu Nianqing’s gorgeous face, her cheeks flushed.
Ji Wan suddenly felt that maybe she didn’t lose out after all.
“Little 1, come out. Is my mission over?” Ji Wan called out to the system, which was playing dead.
“Uh, host, you’ve already completed the richest man mission and protected the original owner’s family assets. And… and, wow, host, when did you complete the little wife mission?!” System 111 exclaimed.
It was in complete shock. Its host had even completed the mission it thought she was least likely to achieve.
“Oh, I just got married to Gu Nianqing,” Ji Wan said nonchalantly, as if it were as simple as drinking water.
“Oh, no wonder, you married…
Gu Nianqing!
The female lead!
Married!
System 111 felt like it had missed a century. One second it was still reeling from the shock that the female lead liked its host, and the next, they were married?
They were supposed to be dead to each other when it went to upgrade. What in the world happened?
“Host, weren’t you supposed to be her father?”
“I didn’t want to, but what could I do? She gave me too much,” Ji Wan said with a feigned look of sadness, while internally cackling and calculating Gu Nianqing’s assets. So much money!
“Oh my gosh, you sold your looks! Host, where’s your integrity?!” System 111 choked on its words. With its host’s mission-completion skills, it was a miracle she finished even half of them. Nothing ever went according to plan. The only explanation was that its host had seduced the female lead with her beauty.
Even though she couldn’t see System 111’s expression, Ji Wan could hear what it was thinking from its shocked electronic voice.
Ji Wan’s face darkened, her tone angry. “What are you thinking? I was forced to get married! Gu Nianqing was the one lusting after me, alright?!”
“Yes, yes, whatever the host says is right,” System 111 replied, clearly not believing her.
“Well, since Gu Nianqing has me as her little wife, my mission is complete. Marrying her isn’t so bad,” Ji Wan said, her face suddenly turning red as she remembered something.
“Ah, you’re right, your mission does seem to be complete. You’re something else, host. You really do get everything in the end,” System 111 agreed perfunctorily.
Anyway, the mission was now completely out of its control. There was no vicious rivalry or high-stakes intellectual battle. Its host succeeded simply by using her beauty. What a cause for celebration!
“Shut up! I’m not, I didn’t, you’re the sycophant!” Ji Wan angrily retorted, but since System 111 didn’t have a physical form, she couldn’t hit it.
As Ji Wan and System 111 bickered, drip, drip. A call came in.
It was Bai Weiwei.
Ji Wan quickly answered, her voice inexplicably like a daughter cooing to her mother, “Hey, big sister Weiwei, what’s up?”
The sound gave System 111 goosebumps, and it unilaterally muted Ji Wan.
“Hey, Wanwan. I want you to meet my partner today. We’re getting married next month, so I won’t keep it a secret from you anymore,” Bai Weiwei’s gentle voice came through the phone.
“Okay! Who is she? Do I know her?” Ji Wan asked. If it’s not Gu Nianqing, then who is it? Who’s worthy of my big sister Weiwei?
“You’ll see when you get here. Come to the coffee shop we used to go to in high school this afternoon. I’ll be waiting for you there.”
“Okay, got it. I’ll make sure to vet her for you,” Ji Wan said with a cute laugh.
After hanging up, Ji Wan couldn’t help but feel curious. Then the phone rang again. Ji Wan thought it was Bai Weiwei calling back and answered without looking at the caller ID. Her voice was still sweet and playful.
“What’s up, big sister?”
