I Have a Date with the CEO [Transmigration Novel] - Chapter 2
Xie Nanyin listened carefully for any movement in the room. Only after confirming the woman had left did she sit up. Truthfully, the long nap after fainting had left her completely awake.
Crossing her legs on the bed, Xie Nanyin couldn’t help but furrow her brow as she pondered. The thought of the sweet girl she’d just met being dragged into jail because of her made her brow twist even tighter, almost into a pretzel. Maybe I should just run away now?
After careful consideration, she concluded that running away was the best option. I need to find an opportunity to escape!
Remembering they were married, Xie Nanyin stroked her chin. First, I need to figure out how to get a divorce.
Finally opening her eyes, Xie Nanyin buried her face in the soft warmth of the blankets. The cozy heat was hard to resist, and she lingered for several more minutes before finally crawling out.
Glancing at the wall clock, Xie Nanyin saw it was past ten o’clock. She yawned and sauntered leisurely to the bathroom. Last night, she’d been so engrossed in the TV drama that she didn’t even think about going to bed until the early hours of the morning.
As she brushed her teeth, Xie Nanyin studied her reflection in the mirror. Her almond-shaped eyes still held a hint of sleep-induced haziness, her skin glowed with a luminous fairness, and her flawless lips were pink and dewy.
It was quite a coincidence that the original owner of this body was also 26 years old, with the same height and appearance. Xie Nanyin felt a sense of relief; she was quite satisfied with her height and looks.
If she had to find any differences, this body was fairer and seemed even more delicate and fragile. In her previous life, Xie Nanyin often went hiking due to her personal interests. No matter how diligent she was with sunscreen, she couldn’t avoid getting tanned. Though tanned, her physical fitness was excellent.
Pinching her slender arm, she muttered, “I should probably exercise more.”
After washing up, she slowly descended the stairs. Having lived here for a few days, Xie Nanyin was gradually adjusting to her new surroundings.
Her footsteps were light, and Qiao Jinyi, sitting at the dining table with her back to the stairs, didn’t notice her approach. However, Zhang Ma, the housekeeper, did. Zhang Ma’s worried expression softened into relief the moment she saw Xie Nanyin, even carrying a hint of joy.
“Madam, you’re finally awake!” Zhang Ma exclaimed, her face glowing with excitement.
Xie Nanyin was a little puzzled. Why is waking up such a big deal?
Hearing Zhang Ma’s words, Qiao Jinyi stood up almost reflexively. She looked at Xie Nanyin and weakly greeted her, “Nanyin, good morning.”
Xie Nanyin nodded. “Good morning.” After exchanging greetings, they fell silent. Qiao Jinyi was usually quiet because the original owner of this body hadn’t liked to talk to her. As for Xie Nanyin, she simply didn’t know what to say.
The awkwardness didn’t linger, though, because Zhang Ma spoke up again. “Madam, you must be hungry. I’ll bring up breakfast right away.”
Xie Nanyin nodded. “Thank you.”
Moments later, Zhang Ma returned with breakfast, placing one plate in front of Xie Nanyin and another in front of Qiao Jinyi. Xie Nanyin was surprised. “You haven’t eaten yet?”
Qiao Jinyi looked up at her. As their eyes met, memories that weren’t her own surfaced in Xie Nanyin’s mind. The original owner smiled gently. “We’re family. Of course we eat together at home, don’t you agree, Jinyi?”
Qiao Jinyi nodded. “Okay.”
In the memory, Zhang Ma spoke up for Qiao Jinyi: “Madam, Miss has a stomach condition, she needs to eat on time…”
Before she could finish, the past Xie Nanyin cut her off with a smile: “Jinyi will wait for me, won’t she?” Her gaze shifted to Qiao Jinyi.
Zhang Ma expected Qiao Jinyi to protest, but she showed no resistance whatsoever. “I can wait,” she replied quietly.
Xie Nanyin rubbed her throbbing temples, feeling drained. Is there something wrong with this original owner? She looked at Qiao Jinyi with a mixture of frustration and exasperation. “Does she not know how to stand up for herself?”
Qiao Jinyi felt Xie Nanyin’s gaze, a treatment she hadn’t received in a long time. The previous Xie Nanyin seemed to find even a glance at her repulsive, yet now she was being stared at continuously. Qiao Jinyi felt a surge of satisfaction, a faint blush creeping across her pale cheeks.
Xie Nanyin was bewildered. Why is she blushing?
She shook her head and said, “You don’t need to wait for me anymore. Your health comes first.”
Qiao Jinyi’s heart tightened, thinking Xie Nanyin was angry. She quickly shook her head. “No need. I’ll wait for you.”
Xie Nanyin sighed in exasperation. “Why are you so stubborn?” She didn’t want to argue further. “Let’s eat.”
The two quietly enjoyed their breakfast.
After finishing, they had nothing to do. Xie Nanyin sprawled on the sofa, flipping through her phone, while Qiao Jin sat ramrod straight on the other end.
Xie Nanyin scrolled through her phone, silently grumbling to herself, “Why is she acting like a dodo?”
Suddenly, as if struck by a thought, she opened Qian Du, China’s version of Google, and typed in “Qiao Jinyi.” The search engine instantly pulled up her personal profile. This country’s internet speed is pretty fast, Xie Nanyin thought.
The first thing she saw was a formal ID photo. The young woman’s face still held a trace of innocence, her expression serious and proper. Xie Nanyin glanced at the dodo on the sofa, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
Qiao Jinyi, 23 years old, 166 cm tall, Chief Violinist of the Eastern Symphony Orchestra. She had won first place in China’s national youth violin competition at age 11, first place in China’s International Violin Competition at age 16, and second place in the Panini International Violin Competition at age 18, losing by a mere 0.5 points to a seasoned violinist. That same year, she rejected the enrollment offer from the world-ranked Boliya International Music Academy and instead applied to Anxia Music Academy, China’s top music institution, commonly known as An Yin U.
Although Anxia Music Academy was ranked first in China, it couldn’t compare to Boliya International Music Academy. When Qiao Jinyi rejected Boliya International Music Academy, it made headlines and caused a stir, with many people calling her foolish.
Even the dean of Anxia Music Academy was bewildered when he received her application. He couldn’t figure out why a prodigy would abandon such a golden opportunity to attend his school. But he didn’t dwell on it; after all, why refuse a student who was practically handing herself over? He even personally escorted Qiao Jinyi through the campus gates.
While others might not have understood why Qiao Jinyi chose An Yin U, she knew exactly why: Xie Nanyin, then 21 years old and a third-year student at An Yin U, was the reason she had chosen the school without hesitation.
After breakfast, the two sat idly on the sofa. Xie Nanyin was just about to get up and find something to do when a woman’s voice rang out from the doorway: “Xie Nanyin! Xie Nanyin, are you even alive?”
Xie Nanyin’s expression shifted from bewilderment to annoyance, her mind racing with confusion. “Who is that? Cursing me first thing in the morning!”
