I Got My Engagement Annulled… Even Though We Were Never Engaged - Chapter 5
With my older sister absent, I had no choice but to receive the visitor myself.
After asking Allie to buy the sweets Mother wanted as souvenirs, I found myself facing the unexpected guest Lord Fevan Levesius in the salon.
This was only the second time I’d seen Lord Fevan since that day, but he remained as dazzling as ever.
His silver hair, which reached down to his shoulder blades, was tied back at the nape of his neck, and his pale blue eyes were as clear and transparent as a cloudless sky.
Unsurprisingly, given that he had been in the knight department at the Nodierra Academy abroad, his physique was toned and well-proportioned.
…Even though he was in the knight department while studying abroad, I hear he’s also skilled in magic, so after returning, he joined the Magic Knights, right?
That’s according to my sister’s intel.
My sociable, well-connected sister is adept at gathering all sorts of information from here and there.
By gaining experience in various places, he might eventually aim to become the Prime Minister, just like Father. Even if he doesn’t become Prime Minister, it’s highly likely he’ll end up as a minister somewhere in the future. The Levesius Marquisate has long been a family of politicians.
…Come to think of it, thanks to that newspaper, Lord Fevan has also been rumored to be a “homosexual.” Is that really okay? I mean, given his career and all.
Even if it doesn’t amount to discrimination, many people are bound to look at him with curiosity. Lord Fevan must feel uncomfortable in social circles. Well, he brought it upon himself, though.
And to top it off, the engagement was called off by the other party.
In other words, Lord Fevan came out as a homosexual, ended up breaking off his engagement with a lady who wasn’t his fiancée, and then got his own engagement broken off by his actual fiancée.
…Yeah, that’s pretty harsh.
Even in this wide world, there can’t be many men who’ve gone through an experience like that. I’m starting to feel a little sorry for him.
“Um, Lord Fevan. What exactly brings you here today?”
If it’s an apology, we’ve already received more than enough from the Levesius Marquis.
Personally, I’d like to put that day behind me as soon as possible, so I don’t think any further apologies are necessary, but I wonder what Lord Fevan has come for.
Then, Lord Fevan suddenly rose from the sofa, came over to my side, and knelt right there.
He offered me a single red rose that had been pinned to his chest and declared in a resonant voice:
“Lady Adeline Cambrelive, please marry me!!”
…Um, I really don’t understand this person at all.
