I Came From Heaven [Transmigration/Time-Travel] - Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Sixiao laboriously lifted the girl’s ankles, while I supported her shoulders. With the combined effort of dragging and lifting, we finally managed to move her onto the carriage.
The current environment was pitch black, so I had to take out my power bank and turn on the flashlight. The carriage instantly lit up. Sixiao was drawn to the small device in my hand. He curiously touched it but lost interest after a moment.
The little guy didn’t fuss; he just huddled beside me, hugging his knees, watching me quietly. I knelt beside the injured girl, holding the power bank so the light focused on her.
The blood on her black cotton clothes had already scabbed and solidified. I am a gentleman! Even though the girl was unconscious, I still put my hands together and bowed to her:
“Sijie did not mean to offend you, Miss. I only want to check your injuries. Please forgive me!”
With that, I felt around her collar and began to remove her black outer garment. On the waist of her white inner tunic, there was a long, thin mark where the fabric had been cut, stained red with blood.
She had a cut on her forehead, not large but deep, which explained the horrific effect of a face covered in blood. Overall, the injury wasn’t particularly severe. Her blood coagulation seemed fine, as the wound had already stopped bleeding.
However, in this simple environment, the risk of infection was extremely high. We had to rush to Deyifu as quickly as possible to find a medical clinic. Otherwise, this girl might not survive until tomorrow’s sunrise.
I took out the set of clothes Shui Xin had given me from my backpack. Although I was reluctant, human life was at stake, so I had no choice but to ruin it. Gritting my teeth, I tore the only decent good piece of clothing I owned into rags.
I quickly wrapped the cloth around the girl’s waist to prevent her wound from tearing open again due to the upcoming carriage jolting. Perhaps I just didn’t want to witness death and separation anymore, which made me incredibly anxious.
After putting her clothes back on, I raised my hand and signaled Sixiao to come over. The little guy immediately approached, waiting for my command.
“In a moment, no matter what happens outside, you must hold onto this girl tightly. Don’t let her move from her position.”
“Roger! Big Brother Ji! Mission accomplished!”
I nodded, using the remaining strips of cloth to firmly strap the power bank to my hand, making sure it wouldn’t fall off. Then, I jumped off the carriage and slowly approached the horse at the front. I was a little scared, my hand trembling and hovering in the air as I hesitated.
Finally, I breathed out a puff of warm air and, in a rush of courage, touched the horse’s nose. I was genuinely afraid this horse would get excited and kick me to death.
Who am I? I’m the famous little drama queen of China! It’s time for my acting skills to shine!
Although I was terrified inside, I forced a look of deep affection and made eye contact with the horse. I gently stroked its forehead with my palm, slowly massaging down to its cheek.
“Brother Horse! Meeting is fate, and we must cherish it, right? Just bear with it today, let’s become sworn brothers. You take us to Deyifu, and I’ll get you the best feed and equipment, and you won’t ever have to pull a carriage again! I promise! Do me a solid!”
I patted its forehead again. It shook its head, snorted, and stomped its hooves a few times. I looked around again but still didn’t see any sign of the coachman. Forget it, I have no choice!
Relying on my memory, I replicated the coachman’s actions, grabbed the reins, and deftly sat in the coachman’s seat.
The flashlight in my hand was just bright enough to illuminate a small path ahead. I swung the whip and lashed it hard against the horse’s backside.
“Let’s go!”
The horse reacted to the lash, uncontrollably raising its front legs and stomping several times in place. Then, it actually started running! Since I was a novice, I was literally risking my life. (Minors, do not attempt; prioritize safety!)
Incredibly, the entire carriage was dragged forward by the horse at a full gallop. I couldn’t stop myself from laughing wildly: “Ah ha ha ha ha! I only admire myself when I’m out of my element!”
Alas, the most feared thing is for joy to turn into sorrow. I had been happy for less than a minute when the horse began to lose its rhythm. Shoot! The carriage was moving, but I had no idea how to control the direction.
Now I was panicked too. In my fright, I pulled back on the reins tightly. This was like stepping on the emergency brake. The horse was jerked hard, struggling and swaying for a long time amidst neighing.
I rocked side to side with the horse’s violent movements, grabbing the wooden handrail beside me and shouting at the top of my lungs: “Sixiao! Hold that girl tight!”
“I’m fine! I’m holding her!”
Hearing Sixiao’s reply, I breathed a sigh of relief. Eventually, the horse calmed down and stopped. I sat there in a daze, leaning against the side, watching its tail slowly swish.
My palms were covered in clammy sweat. Trembling with lingering fear, I released the reins and covered my face with my hands. The realization of the danger I had just been in made me shiver uncontrollably.
Truly, a “scared Daddy to death” experience!
…
🐎 Horseback Brotherhood
…
“Big Brother Ji, are you alright?”
Sixiao poked the back of my head, looking concerned. I forced a calm smile and turned back to him:
“Big Brother is fine. How about you? Are you hurt?”
“I’m fine!”
Sixiao said carelessly, but the light from the flashlight in my hand immediately revealed a big, shining, blue lump on his forehead.
“Still saying you’re fine?! Let me see!”
I stabilized his head and carefully examined the large bump, then blew softly on it, asking caringly: “Did you hit the carriage just now? Does it hurt?”
“Aiya, I’m a man, it doesn’t hurt… Ouch!”
Before he could finish, I immediately pressed the lump on his head: “Does it hurt?”
“Why are you bullying me!?”
“If it hurts, it hurts! If you’re injured, you’re injured! Stop being so stubbornly silent!”
“Big Brother, I find you’re really nice to people! It’s just… a little…”
“A little what?”
“Sometimes you’re like a girl… not very manly…”
“Do you believe I’ll actually string you up and beat you!”
I yelled at Sixiao out of guilt, and he immediately covered his head and retreated into the carriage.
Readjusting my posture, I pondered for a while. I had a general idea of how to use the reins now.
Back on the road, I tried to control the horse’s direction with the reins and found that turning left and right was quite simple: pull the left rein to go left, and the right rein to go right.
After trying a few times, I was skillfully controlling our Brother Horse at will. It was surprisingly responsive, and its rhythmic pace made me feel like rapping a “Wilderness Hip Hop” tune.
Since Brother Horse was so cooperative, when we arrived at Deyifu, I absolutely had to buy the most expensive feed to properly reward it and solidify our deep brotherhood! I couldn’t help but marvel that driving a horse was much simpler than driving a car!
Shaking and bouncing along the way, just as the light from the power bank began to dim, a faint light appeared on the horizon.
I pointed the power bank towards the direction of the sun. Fatigue washed over me, and I shook my head, trying to ward off the exhaustion. The little guy poked his head out again:
“Big Brother! Big Brother!”
“Hmm?”
Just as I mumbled sleepily, the little guy suddenly grabbed my shoulders and violently shook me, literally shaking the God of Sleep away from me:
“Big Brother! Deyifu! Look! The Deyifu city gate!”
Oh my goodness! This round of trouble was finally coming to an end!
Three days and two nights of sleeping and eating outdoors, a coachman ran away midway, I befriended a horse, picked up a half-dead girl, and dragged a half-silly son through all sorts of twists and turns.
The Almighty Ji Sijie has successfully arrived at Deyifu in Shangpingzhou and unlocked the achievement of driving a carriage! Bravo!
