I Accidentally Sent a Love Letter to the School's Most Prestigious Young Lady Instead of My Childhood Friend, and Now She's Bowing to Me, Asking, "Please Date Me—On the Premise of Marriage!" - 2
“Morning, Yuu!”
In the morning classroom. Two soft sensations pressed against my back as I was slumped over my desk. The squishy, yielding texture of flesh made my heart jump with a start internally, but since this was routine, I didn’t spring up.
Pretending to rub my sleepy eyes, I raised my head and turned around with feigned calm. As expected, there was the grinning face with semi-long hair who had been hugging me from behind.
“Yo! Full of energy today as usual?”
The one who brought her friendly face right up close to mine was Haru Sakura. My childhood friend since kindergarten, and the intended recipient of yesterday’s misdirected love letter. She’s about the only girl who pays any attention to a mob character like me. Petite with a childish face. But with her charming expression and curvaceous body, she’s popular at school. She’d definitely qualify as a beauty.
“You look sleepy? You need to go to bed early or certain things won’t grow properly. You’re not doing anything weird just because you’re a boy at that age, are you?”
Haru pressed her body against me insistently from behind. With her prominent features making such a strong statement, the impact was intense.
Hiding my true feelings of being happy about this intimate contact as proof of our closeness, I answered bluntly.
“Too close! You’re heavy! It’s hot, get off!”
“Eh!? When a girl greets you with physical contact, that’s no way to respond!”
“Save that for a guy you like.”
“That’s what I’m doing right now.”
“……..”
I glared at Haru with half-lidded eyes. She wore an ambiguous expression – though she’s my childhood friend, I couldn’t tell if she was being genuine or not. It wasn’t that there had never been opportunities to confirm Haru’s feelings. But that serious atmosphere never lasted. Partly because I feared ruining this close relationship, my feelings of liking her always ended up dissipating into our usual banter before I could voice them.
“…I’ll take that seriously.”
Intending to probe further, I spoke those words formally. In response, Haru separated her prominently-featured body from me and began waving her hands dismissively.
“Just kidding, just kidding. There’s no way I’d see Yuu as a man. Yuu, you should properly maintain your awareness of being my childhood friend.”
“Ah, right right. Childhood friend, childhood friend. Speaking of which, what exactly do you mean by ‘childhood friend’?”
“…Hmm”
After letting her childlike eyes that didn’t match her body wander aimlessly, Haru declared to me:
“Someone who’ll do whatever I say when I’m in trouble mentally, physically, or financially – like a handy helper?”
“What’s that? Am I your servant?”
“Come on, isn’t it fine? Being able to get along with such a cute girl, you’re getting way more than you’re giving, right?”
“Don’t say that about yourself.”
“Ehehe”
As we were engaged in this verbal back-and-forth, or rather our usual comedy routine, a refreshing voice echoed from the classroom’s rear entrance.
“Good morning, everyone.”
Like a refreshing breeze blowing through the class. Looking over, there stood a girl with perfectly proportioned figure and smooth, flowing black long hair. Dressed in the navy blue blazer uniform, she was a stunning beauty like an unattainable goddess from the heavens, quietly entering the classroom.
They say “standing like a peony, sitting like a lotus” in the old days… and right before my eyes was exactly that young lady.
A pure white flower raised in warm sunlight and clear water, without a single blemish.
That Shion-san, while politely returning greetings to responses from those around her, came to my side. Then with a smile like an angel, she spoke these words to me:
“Good morning, Kisaragi-san. Starting today, we’ll be dating.”
” “ “Eh?” ” “
Both boys and girls simultaneously looked at me.
“Eh, why would Shion-san… with Kisaragi…”
“Dating… what does that mean…?”
“Princess’s smile… it’s incredibly dazzling somehow…”
As such conversations reached my ears from around us, I was screaming internally.
Yesterday’s confession was actually real——————!!!!!!
No, when I woke up this morning, my room and house were completely unchanged. The commute to school was normal too, so I thought… hoped… just a little that it might have been my misunderstanding or delusion……
Aaaaaah——————!!!!!!!
Though I let out a soundless scream, that didn’t solve the problem.
“What… does this mean?”
Haru, who had been doing our husband-wife comedy routine with me until moments ago, peered at my face with a bewildered expression.
“Why is Shion-san greeting Yuu? She doesn’t usually do that, right?”
“Well… that is…”
“‘Starting to date’ is incomprehensible, what does it mean?”
“……..”
Sweating profusely, I hung my head in silence. Shion-san, completely unconcerned with my state, took my hand saying “This way” and led me to the front.
Then, placing my shrinking self beside her, she declared to the students facing her:
“I, Shion Sayaka, and Yuu Kisaragi-san have decided to date with marriage as our goal. Everyone, pleased to make your acquaintance. This person… is my husband♡“
With Shion-san’s shy closing words, the class momentarily froze as if time had stopped, falling completely silent. Then screams and angry shouts erupted throughout the classroom.
“Eh? Eh? Eh…?”
“Shion-san. What does that… mean, exactly?”
“Tell me it’s a lie it’s a lie it’s a lieeeeeeeee——————!!!!!!!”
Amid the hellish cries of agony, I stepped back in shock and looked at Shion-san beside me. She placed her hands together and bowed deeply to the students. Then she looked at me with an expression overflowing with affection.
“I look forward to being with you for many years to come, husband♡“
As I was about to tell my wildly chaotic classmates that this was wrong, my eyes met with Haru who was standing frozen in astonishment.
Haru’s eyes were wide open, her shocked face rigid, not moving an inch like a stone statue.
In the midst of uncontrollable chaos, we stared at each other… but Haru remained completely motionless as if time had stopped for her.
