Husband, Let Your Husband Treat Your Illness - Chapter 4
Chapter 4
“Damn that Ye Huan. I’m putting this on his tab; just wait until he gets back, I’ll settle the score with him then.” Ye Huan had been sent off to Africa by Ye Mo’s “well-intentioned” project proposal. However, Ye Huan was no pushover; although he was terrified of that little brat deep down, the brat couldn’t reach him while he was in Africa. So, he gleefully departed for the continent, leaving a massive mess behind for Ye Mo to clean up.
“Fourth Young Master, here is the hospital’s quarterly operating report.” The man standing before him was trembling as he dealt with the fourth young master of the Ye family. This Fourth Young Master was a master of “killing without shedding blood” with one simple sentence, he had sent the Third Young Master, who previously managed this hospital, to Africa. He had to be careful not to follow in the Third Young Master’s footsteps.
“Mhm, the operations look decent. However, there were two medical accidents, three medical disputes, and five instances of doctors quarreling with patients. I hope these situations do not occur in the next quarter. If they do, I will have to reconsider whether you are fit to remain as Director.” Ye Mo spoke the data calmly, his tone extremely steady and devoid of emotion, yet it caused the temperature in the room to drop to freezing point. “Yes, yes, it will definitely not happen again.” The Director wiped beads of sweat from his forehead.
“Fine, I’ll be leaving then.” Having finished, Ye Mo rose to depart.
“Please, take care on your way out.” Only after he left did the Director realize his back was completely soaked with sweat.
As soon as Ye Mo stepped out the door, he collided head-on with a man. The man’s chest muscles were sturdy, yet they didn’t make Ye Mo feel repulsed. Standing at 1.78 meters (approx. 5’10”), Ye Mo looked like a “little wife” in front of this man. “My apologies, did I hurt you?” Dongfang Jin asked, looking at the person in his arms who had remained silent for a long time.
“Sir, are you alright?” Dongfang Jin inquired once more.
“Can’t you look where you’re going next time?” Although Ye Mo was slightly dazed, he still answered the man’s inquiry in a voice as cold as ice.
“I am truly sorry. I came to discuss a patient’s treatment plan with the Director; I was in a bit of a hurry.”
As he spoke, Dongfang Jin continued to look at the person in his arms. The black hair emitted a scent of jasmine, and under the light, its luster appeared incredibly high-end.
“Have you hugged me enough yet?” That same cold tone again, making Dongfang Jin feel as if he were in the Ice Age. It turned out their entire exchange had taken place while Dongfang Jin was holding Ye Mo; during that time, he hadn’t let go once. The moment Ye Mo finished speaking, a startled Dongfang Jin released his grip.
As luck would have it, the Director happened to come out of the room at that exact moment and witnessed the scene.
“Director, is this one of your people?” Ye Mo glanced at the man with a strange look.
“Ah, yes, he is our specially invited doctor.” Although the Director was reluctant to admit it, this man was currently the “golden brand” of their hospital.
“Mhm, I see.” With that, Ye Mo walked toward the elevator, leaving behind a surprised Dongfang Jin and a bewildered Director.
“Director, who was that?”
“Why do you care? What did you come to see me for?” Now that Ye Mo was gone, the Director finally regained his authoritative air.
“Oh, right. Regarding this patient, I suggest conservative treatment. Firstly, surgery isn’t very feasible; our hospital doesn’t have a surgeon who can 100% guarantee the patient’s safety. Secondly, the surgical costs are too high and the patient’s family simply cannot afford it. Thirdly, conservative therapy is showing good results, and there are several successful cases abroad.” Dongfang Jin spoke at length, but the Director’s mind was elsewhere, still thinking about how to appease the Ye family’s little young master. “Director, what do you think?”
“Just do as you suggested.”
“Understood, Director.” Dongfang Jin left the office and immediately dialed a number.
“Hello, Athena Law Firm. How may we help you?” a calm female voice answered.
“Let me speak to your Lawyer Dongfang.”
“I’m sorry, Lawyer Dongfang is busy. Could you please call back later?”
“I’ll say it one more time: get me Lawyer Dongfang. If he isn’t on the line within five minutes, tell him to prepare to go back to being a doctor.”
The person on the other end was stunned. Who talks to our cold-blooded, ruthless lawyer like that? Their Lawyer Dongfang was famous for charging by the minute; how did this person dare speak to him this way? “Who exactly are you, and what is your business with Lawyer Dongfang?”
Hearing the lady speak to him like that, Dongfang Jin didn’t get angry. He simply said, “You have four minutes left.” By the time he finished, the lady was losing her patience. “Believe it or not!” Just as she said that, Dongfang Jin spotted the man at the hospital entrance. He exuded an aristocratic aura; the exquisite slim-fit suit fit him perfectly without a single wrinkle. His delicate skin had a faint rosy glow, looking like a freshly peeled hard-boiled egg.
“Hello? Sir, are you listening?”
“Tell your Lawyer Dongfang to prepare to step back onto the operating table.” With that, Dongfang Jin hung up.
Meanwhile, at Athena Law Firm: “Xiao Li, who was that on the phone?”
“I don’t know, some weird man,” Xiao Li replied, feeling aggrieved.
“Who was he looking for?”
“He said he wanted Lawyer Dongfang.”
“A case?” Dongfang Quan walked out at that moment and asked.
“No. He said if you didn’t take his call within five minutes, he’d make you return to the operating table. I thought he was a lunatic, so I hung up on him.”
Hearing this, Dongfang Quan felt a burning pain in his head. He stared at Xiao Li: “You said what?” The surrounding staff looked at Xiao Li with pity. It wasn’t her fault; she was new and didn’t know the Dongfang family all spoke like that. Dongfang Quan could only hope that “Old Man” would show him some mercy.
Back at the hospital, Dongfang Jin saw the man at the entrance and walked out. He saw the man teasing the security guard in a rather childish manner. “I say, what’s wrong with you? Can’t you park properly? Why must you park right at the main entrance?” the guard asked in Mandarin with a heavy Sichuan accent.
“I’ll park wherever I want. Is it any of your business?” Though it was a rude retort, it carried a hint of teasing and playfulness.
“Hey, I say, how can a person be like this? You dress quite decently, but where are your manners?” The guard was genuinely getting worked up.
“This is my hospital. Is it any of your business?” Ye Mo didn’t get angry; he simply told the truth.
“This is your hospital? Well, then I’ll say I’m a national leader, do you believe me?” The guard didn’t believe a word of it.
Dongfang Jin stood to the side, watching this aristocratic-looking man engage in such a silly argument with a guard. He rubbed his forehead and stepped forward, suddenly pulling Ye Mo into his arms. He said to the guard, “Sorry about that, Uncle. This is my younger brother. His head isn’t quite right; he’s always fantasizing that he’s a wealthy young master. I brought him here today for a check-up.”
Ye Mo was already displeased at being yanked and hugged by the man, but hearing this, he absolutely lost it. He punched Dongfang Jin in the stomach. Dongfang Jin didn’t cry out; he awkwardly dragged Ye Mo to a secluded spot before letting go. The moment he let go, Ye Mo threw a kick. Luckily, Dongfang Jin dodged quickly, otherwise he would have been injured. Dongfang Jin moved behind Ye Mo and locked his hands together. “I was just trying to diffuse the tension between you and the guard. Was that necessary?”
Even while restrained, Ye Mo’s aura didn’t diminish. “Who asked you to diffuse anything! You meddling idiot!” These were hardly the words one would expect from a pampered young master, but under the circumstances, no one would have a good temper. “Let go of me this instant!”
“Alright, alright, my fault. Let’s agree: I’ll let go, but you can’t hit me.” Dongfang Jin released his grip. However, our student Ye Mo was not so easily bullied; he charged forward without a word. Just as he reached Dongfang Jin, Dongfang Jin sidestepped and tripped him. Ye Mo began to fall, and Dongfang Jin flipped himself over to be on the bottom, falling heavily. As fate would have it, their lips met exactly.
While Dongfang Jin was still in a daze, he silently savored the taste of Ye Mo’s lips—extremely soft, with a hint of coffee aroma. Ye Mo was also stunned. How did I end up kissing this man? While his brain was stalled, he took a close look at the man before him; there was a rational, heroic air between his brows. Suddenly, Ye Mo realized that he was still lying on the man’s chest. He sprang up instantly, glaring fiercely at the man!
“My name is Dongfang Jin. That was my first kiss.”
Ye Mo was speechless. What did this man want? For him to take responsibility? “That was my first kiss too. And I have no intention of telling you who I am.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll find out soon enough.”
Ye Mo glared at him again. “Boring!”
“I don’t mind if we take our time to cultivate some feelings!”
“I haven’t even settled the score for just now!”
“If you can beat me in a fight, I’m available anytime!”
“You rogue.”
“I’m not like this with others. Only with you.”
“Stay away from me!”
“I won’t!”
“Stay the f*** away from me!!”
With that, Ye Mo sprinted back to his parked car at the entrance. He hopped in, started the engine, and sped off a series of movements so fluid it was as if a monster was chasing him.
Dongfang Jin watched the departing figure, the corners of his mouth curling upward. He felt as though his future finally had a direction.
