How Can Two Scummy Alphas Fall in Love - Chapter 25
Chapter 25
After that conversation ended, Qin Qiao was released after Fu Yan left.
With the evidence still insufficient from all sides, Qin Qiao was temporarily safe from immediate consequences.
Ever since Annie’s attempt to take her own life, the Qin family’s stock market had plummeted. Qin Qiao frowned constantly and often lost her temper with her employees for no reason.
However, Qin Qiao never once raised her voice at Fu Fu.
Watching Qin Qiao’s constant scowls, Han Fufu’s heart was calm. She felt neither satisfaction nor pity.
The closer she got to her goal, the more peaceful Han Fufu became.
Due to the Annie incident, Qin Qiao was still frequently summoned to the police station for questioning.
As Han Fufu sat at her desk processing documents, Fu Yan called her.
“Fufu, Gu Xue’er is planning to invite Qin Qiao to the hospital to visit Annie. She also bribed people at the hospital, intending to kill Annie and frame Qin Qiao for it,” Fu Yan outlined Gu Xue’er’s plan clearly. “Annie’s medication will be swapped this afternoon. You need to report it to the police beforehand. We can’t let Gu Xue’er continue to act arbitrarily. As for Qin Qiao, she will narrowly escape death this time, but her family business will be ruined.”
“She’s not an idiot. She’s already figured out there are problems in the company, and many of them,” Han Fufu chuckled lightly. “She seems to suspect me too, but… she hasn’t made any moves.”
“Who cares what she thinks? I’m only responsible for meeting your demands,” Fu Yan’s voice held a smile. “Then, once everything is over, I’ll properly pursue you, alright?”
“Suit yourself.” Han Fufu was getting ready to head to the hospital. “Let’s talk after I’ve handled things. Goodbye.”
Han Fufu hung up and entered Qin Qiao’s office.
“CEO Qin, CEO Gu has invited you to visit Miss Annie at the hospital together.”
Qin Qiao was staring out the window, lost in thought.
In Han Fufu’s memory, Qin Qiao had never wasted time like this.
“Hmm? Alright, when?” Qin Qiao finally snapped back to reality.
Han Fufu checked the time. “In half an hour. CEO Gu will be waiting for you at the hospital’s main entrance.”
“Understood. Let’s go.” Qin Qiao rubbed the bridge of her nose tiredly as she stood up.
On the way to the hospital, Qin Qiao looked exhausted. She was mostly lost in thought and barely spoke. However, she would occasionally grab Fu Fu’s hand, holding it tightly, doing nothing else.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Han Fufu followed Qin Qiao out of the car.
Gu Xue’er was already there. She blinked when she saw Fu Fu.
The three walked together, entering the upper floor of the inpatient department.
Annie was lying in the hospital bed, still unresponsive. The doctor said she wasn’t in a vegetative state, but her brain’s defense mechanism had activated, slowing her recovery, and she just needed time.
“Sister Qin, the doctor is here. Let’s change her medication,” Gu Xue’er suggested.
Qin Qiao nodded.
The doctor glanced at Gu Xue’er, nodded, and produced the IV drip and medication Gu Xue’er was supposed to receive that afternoon.
Just as the doctor was about to swap the IV bag, the police entered through the door.
“Nobody move. Someone reported illegal substitution of medicine here.” The police demanded that everyone present return to the police station with them.
Gu Xue’er was stunned at first. When she recovered, she shot a resentful look at Fu Fu.
Han Fufu pretended not to see it.
After everyone was taken to the police station, Han Fufu contacted Fu Yan, who immediately handed over all the gathered criminal evidence concerning Gu Xue’er to the police.
Qin Qiao and Han Fufu were released that evening, while Gu Xue’er was detained.
Given Gu Xue’er’s crimes, it was unlikely she would be released for the rest of her life.
According to the evidence Fu Yan had gathered, Gu Xue’er had been involved in many other dirty deeds.
After the matter was handled and they left, Qin Qiao silently lit a cigarette.
“You…” Qin Qiao didn’t look at Fu Fu, saying one word in a hoarse voice before continuing to smoke.
Han Fufu: “What is it?”
“Nothing. There’s just been too much going on lately. I’m worried about your safety.” Qin Qiao put out the cigarette. “Let’s go home.”
The sight of Qin Qiao turning away made Han Fufu’s heart inexplicably tighten.
“CEO Qin.” Han Fufu couldn’t help but ask, “Are you alright?”
Did you not notice anything suspicious at all?
Qin Qiao didn’t answer. She opened the car door for Fu Fu to sit in the back, then followed her into the car.
They didn’t speak the entire way. Upon arriving home, Qin Qiao suddenly hugged Fu Fu, just holding her silently.
“I’d like to take a day off tomorrow,” Han Fufu said.
Tomorrow was the final step of the plan. Han Fufu had left everything to Fu Yan while she intended to retrieve her scent gland and have it re-implanted.
“Okay,” Qin Qiao closed her eyes, slowly falling asleep leaning against Fu Fu.
The next day, before dawn, Han Fufu left the house. The sky was pale, and snowflakes began to fall—the first snow of the year in the capital. The snow grew heavier.
Han Fufu first went to the hospital for a physical examination. Yue Ying accompanied her.
The doctor reviewed the results. “It’s fine. The surgery can be performed. However, frequent stimulation of the scent gland like this is definitely detrimental. Your immunity and stamina will decline, and I must warn you: you cannot change your scent gland again. Not even once.”
“Fufu, are you… really going through with it?” Yue Ying was very worried.
Han Fufu was resolute. “Yes, I am. This afternoon.”
Around noon, the scent gland storage facility guarded by Qin Qiao’s personnel was breached, and Han Fufu’s scent gland was taken.
At the same time, Fu Yan became the ultimate controlling shareholder of the Qin Group.
Just as Qin Qiao realized her family business had been transferred to someone else, her secretly stored Han Fufu’s scent gland was also stolen.
Seeing that the scent gland was taken by someone named Fu Fu, Qin Qiao was unexpectedly calm.
She just smiled bitterly, shook her head, and looked up at the sky. “It was you all along, Fufu. You were with me the whole time… This was all your doing, wasn’t it, to punish me?”
Well done.
Thinking this, Qin Qiao immediately wanted to find Han Fufu. She wanted to admit her mistakes and apologize in person.
Amidst widespread ridicule, Qin Qiao rushed to the hospital where Han Fufu was staying.
Qin Qiao, who usually cared deeply about appearances, disregarded all decorum at this moment. She ran to Han Fufu’s floor, demanding to see her.
Han Fufu, just about to head into surgery, stepped out of her room and saw the dusty, wind-beaten Qin Qiao.
Once, their eyes met across a vast distance and it was destiny; now, they met again in silence.
“Fufu!” Qin Qiao tried to grab Han Fufu, but was blocked by Yue Ying and the doctor standing nearby.
“Leave, Miss Qin,” Yue Ying looked down at Qin Qiao. “Can’t you see Fufu doesn’t want to see you? You harmed her so badly back then, and then you found a stand-in to mock her? She was by your side, acting as her own stand-in for so long, and you never noticed? Aren’t you disgusting!”
“Fufu, I was wrong. I truly…” Qin Qiao’s eyes reddened. “When you disappeared in that fire, I realized I couldn’t live without you, that I had loved you all along. I… I made mistakes in everything. I’m willing to pay any price you demand. I don’t want anything now; I only want you! Please forgive me, and give me one more chance, okay?”
Han Fufu looked at Qin Qiao coldly. “No. I don’t want you anymore. Leave. I don’t want to see you again.”
Qin Qiao’s heart sank. She watched Han Fufu move farther and farther away, yet she could no longer reach her.
The distraught Qin Qiao was escorted out by hospital security. She walked aimlessly.
The snowy ground was slippery, and Qin Qiao accidentally slipped and fell. She slowly tried to stand up, realizing she couldn’t. So, she remained kneeling near the hospital, for a very long time.
She remained kneeling throughout Han Fufu’s surgery.
That afternoon, the tide turned in the capital.
Fu Yan became the head of the four major families, and the news that Han Fufu was still alive spread everywhere that same day.
The sky was overcast, and rain began to fall.
Winter rain is cold and long-lasting, often lasting for days.
Han Fufu finally had her scent gland replaced and walked out of the hospital.
Greeted by Yue Ying and Fu Yan.
“Fufu, everything is over. Come with me,” Fu Yan offered proactively.
Yue Ying scoffed. “Why should you take Fufu?”
“I helped her achieve her goals. I’m just claiming my reward,” Fu Yan stated matter-of-factly.
Han Fufu didn’t have time to listen to their argument. “What’s the situation with Qin Qiao now?”
“Oh, she’s been staying home. Even though I took everything, she’s guaranteed a comfortable life for the rest of her days. But…” Fu Yan smiled mercilessly. “She’s the biggest joke in the capital now. She probably has no face to go out.”
The moment Han Fufu stepped out of the hospital doors, snow started falling again.
“It’s snowing. I’ll take you home,” Fu Yan held up an umbrella. “Wait, you were staying at Qin Qiao’s. Why don’t you come to my place?”
Yue Ying wouldn’t let her steal the advantage. “No way. If she’s going anywhere, she’s coming to my house.”
They walked along, arguing over who would take Han Fufu home.
Just then, Han Fufu accidentally bumped into a passerby.
“Sorry… Ye, Ye Shu?” Han Fufu looked at the person she bumped into. That face…
It was her first love!
Ye Shu was bundled up, clearly not wanting to be seen by anyone. She looked at the face in front of her, which looked somewhat familiar. “You, who are you?”
“I’m Han Fufu. I just had plastic surgery,” Han Fufu countered. “Why are you suddenly here?”
“Someone told me you were here, that you were being discharged today. I… I thought since I hadn’t seen you in so many years, I just wanted to secretly catch a glimpse of you after returning home. To see… if you were doing well.” Ye Shu felt remorseful about what happened years ago. “I’m sorry about everything that happened back then.”
“It’s alright. It’s all in the past,” Han Fufu had long since moved on. She no longer felt the old spark for her first love.
Ye Shu hesitated. “That…”
“Just say whatever you need to say,” Han Fufu prompted.
“Let’s talk privately. There are fewer people over there. The reason I came to see you this time was actually to tell you about the past,” Ye Shu pointed towards the roadside.
Curious, Han Fufu walked a few steps away with Ye Shu.
“That…” Ye Shu hesitated, then finally spoke. “The person you were chatting with on the phone back then was never me. It was Qin Qiao! I, I was just the person she designated to date you… I was never the person you liked.”
“What did you say?” Han Fufu was incredulous.
The person she had loved so desperately was Qin Qiao, not Ye Shu? Was this a joke?
Ye Shu knew Han Fufu wouldn’t believe it, so she showed Han Fufu the archived email messages on her phone. “Look, this is the email Qin Qiao sent, arranging for me to approach you offline. It even has the content of your chats. So, you’ve actually been loving the wrong person all this time. I played with your emotions on behalf of Qin Qiao. It was wrong of me, and I apologize.”
Han Fufu was momentarily stunned.
Just then, Ye Shu, facing Han Fufu, screamed. “Ah—”
The roar of a car, the sound of wind and rain rushed past Han Fufu’s ears.
Just as the speeding car behind her was about to hit Han Fufu, a figure darted out from the roadside, shoving Han Fufu to safety.
Immediately followed by a deafening crash, and blood pooling everywhere.
The person who darted out from the corner was Qin Qiao. She lay in a pool of blood.
The speeding car crashed into a large tree by the roadside, destroying both the car and the driver. The person driving was Gu Xue’er, who had just been released from detention. Due to the extreme impact, she died instantly.
As for Qin Qiao, her lower body was drenched in blood.
Han Fufu snapped out of her panic. Seeing Qin Qiao covered in blood, her face was expressionless, yet tears still streamed from her eyes.
Idiot!
Why did you jump out?
Did you want to die?
Even so…
Do you think I can forgive you?
After the car accident, Qin Qiao’s life was saved through aggressive medical intervention. However, she suffered comminuted fractures in both legs and was temporarily confined to a wheelchair.
Whether she would ever walk normally again remained a matter of fate.
Qin Qiao didn’t care about any of this. She had no job now, an unemployed person. So, she sat in her wheelchair outside Han Fufu’s company building, staying for the entire day.
At first, Han Fufu had people chase her away, but later, she stopped bothering.
The security guards were too rough, often knocking Qin Qiao’s wheelchair over. Han Fufu would then have to go down herself, ask the guards to help her up, and send her home.
After several repetitions, Han Fufu was truly exhausted and simply couldn’t be bothered with Qin Qiao anymore.
Another winter came and went.
Amidst the falling snow, Qin Qiao sat outside in the open, a thin layer of snow accumulating on her shoulders.
Han Fufu couldn’t take it anymore. She walked out into the snow.
“Enough. How much longer are you going to do this?”
“Fufu, can you forgive me today?” Qin Qiao looked up at her, like a stray dog.
Han Fufu said impatiently, “Go home first.”
“No,” Qin Qiao insisted stubbornly.
Han Fufu rubbed her forehead. “If you won’t even listen to me, how can I forgive you?”
“I’ll listen,” Qin Qiao maneuvered her wheelchair to the side of the road.
Just as Qin Qiao moved, a car sped past her.
Seeing this, Han Fufu couldn’t help but recall the scene of Gu Xue’er driving to hit them.
“Qiao Qiao!” Han Fufu, in a panic, dashed to the wheelchair and forcefully pulled Qin Qiao out.
In reality, the car’s lane was a considerable distance from Qin Qiao; it wouldn’t have hit her.
With Han Fufu’s powerful tug, Qin Qiao tumbled into Han Fufu.
The two rolled in the snow. Qin Qiao couldn’t help but blush. “Fufu, do you… still like me?”
“Get off me!” Han Fufu snapped, embarrassed and angry.
She did not answer the question directly.
